If so that I know exactly what you're talking about. to clarify my previous comment, I'm not going to try to pretend that police never do that sort of thing because that would be an absurd claim. that is why I have serious moral objections to people being prosecuted for possession of just about anything, if it just comes down to the cops word against the word of the person accused of a crime then the case should be thrown out every single time, particularly when you consider the fact that the cop has a vested interest in getting prosecutions in order to advance his career. because of that I honestly believe that police testimony should carry even less weight than the testimony of any other civilian, absent any actual evidence to back up their testimony. All of that said, I am pro cop, I just happened to care more about Justice. I do my best to live by Blackstone's Formulation; it is better that 10 guilty men walk free then one innocent man hang. Unfortunately we have lost sight of that principle in our legal system which tells me that it is time for a total and complete overhaul.

If so that I know exactly what you're talking about. to clarify my previous comment, I'm not going to try to pretend that police never do that sort of thing because that would be an absurd claim. that is why I have serious moral objections to people being prosecuted for possession of just about anything, if it just comes down to the cops word against the word of the person accused of a crime then the case should be thrown out every single time, particularly when you consider the fact that the cop has a vested interest in getting prosecutions in order to advance his career. because of that I honestly believe that police testimony should carry even less weight than the testimony of any other civilian, absent any actual evidence to back up their testimony.
All of that said, I am pro cop, I just happened to care more about Justice. I do my best to live by Blackstone's Formulation; it is better that 10 guilty men walk free then one innocent man hang. Unfortunately we have lost sight of that principle in our legal system which tells me that it is time for a total and complete overhaul.
