  • This woman has been screaming outside the entrance for the past hour... she is one of the many people they won't let inside the shelter for behavioral issues. I don't blame the shelter as much as I blame thrCity of San Francisco for allowing people like this to frequently disturb the peace with impunity.

What should the city do so you won't be bothered?

First off let me just clarify that this is not an issue that affects just me.. I have one of just 20 partments directly across the street from the shelter and im actually a bit more sympathetic then my neighbors.
For the most part the people that stay in the shelter are good people struggling to get their lives back on track and they have my full support.. the shelter itself is not the issue.
However, there are many many people living on the Streets of San Francisco that are suffering from behavioral issues,, such as the one in this video, who are usually refused service from the shelter or they are ejected from the shelter at any hours of night.
So.. I guess I would have a few suggestions as to what the city do to help ease this burden on the fine tax-paying citizens of San Francisco.
So if I had to just give one answer to your question , I would have the city prioritize getting elicit drugs like meth and heroin, off our streets. The drug dealers are predicating on the homeless people and exasperating the negative conditions on our streets. I see it all the time oh, I know who the drug dealers are and I know that the police officers who are on our streets daily, also know who the drug dealers are, but nothing is done!
I actually live in what is considered good part of this neighborhood, just a couple of blocks away you can witness people shooting up heroin or smoking crack/meth on the sidewalks.. sometimes right in front of children!
Those same people often stay up two or three days in a row and then try to gain entry to the shelter while in full mental meltdown!
So I guess that would be part one of my answer....

The short answer to your question, increased police presence in the neighborhood.
Foot patrol would be really nice, an officer just walk around and tell people to turn their boomboxes off at 3 in the morning...that would be really nice

@@SteveinSanFrancisco try white noise, a fan, earplugs, a smart pillow that wakes you up on your ideal circadian rhythm. Enjoy the wild nature of that neighborhood, it's special, and once it's gone, there will be no soul left in the city.
Middle class people don't make anything interesting. Wealthy people are even worse. They just show up to see something interesting. Well, you live in the neighborhood of interesting. This is where the last of the artists live that drew out all the stuffy boring people from boringville USA who want SF to be safe and comfortable and quiet. If this is hitting you a certain way then I'm sorry for hurting your feelings. If that's you, I would recommend moving to Monterey where everything closes before 10pm.
The TL is a shithole, but it's a special kind of shithole, because it still contains the life, the buzz that most of SF used to have before the rents went crazy. But try those things and see if they help you feel a little better at night. Hopefully they help you coexist better.
If I seem bitter it's because I am, I miss the old city and hate what it has turned into, and watching your video got me looking at you as one of many people who changed the city from fun to meh.
I know you tried to give me a reasoned answer to a slightly condescending question, and I appreciate your tolerance, hopefully you can appreciate some brutal honesty coming back to you. It's for the spirit of old SF, for all the amazing people who got pushed out so the very special young people could come Yelp and walk around the city avoiding eye contact.
Steve: good luck to you out there. I hope this comment was more entertaining than offensive.

@@phablejvc2801 no offense taken, ive been in the city since the 90s, and living across from the shelter for the past 15 years, so im mostly used to the public disturbances, but sometimes it does get frustrating.
I think they really need to start by focusing on tackling the street drug epidemic. These dealers are predators and they are taking advantage of the homeless population...
The good news is, this afternoon there was a major drug sweep of the tenderloin dealers! Maybe that'll help keep a sense of calm in the neighborhood for a few weeks 🤞
