A sort of obscure mod i discovered that's been a huge game changer for the sims 2 is the "shiftable everything". When you were struggling to find the right mirror you can use the {} to raise and lower ANY object in the game and i think the best part is even if you remove the mod the stuff you place with it still stay where it was so it's great for putting interesting houses up for download. You can get it free from Mod the sims.
