You are not only the best bike channel on YT, but my favorite channel in general. Your videos have inspired me and many others in our journey to feel the joy of working on bikes. And for this, I just want to say THANK YOU!
Many thanks RJ. I have enjoyed your videos for many years, you have helped me resolve problems with my bike and other peoples for a very long time. Your videos are very well delivered and informative, no fancy cameras, editing or lights, just one man in his garage with years of acquired knowledge willing to share with others. You are a legend in this field and hope to see more of your videos. I have been watching your videos for so long now that you have become part of the family. Thanks for all the years of education.
Ah, I was just think about you and your channel yesterday...you've helped me a great deal with a restoration project of mine...glad you are well and still wrenching away!
Nicely done, just wrapped another season at free bikes for kids and we get lots of donated bikes like this. We can only save so many of these adult bikes, many get scraped because they take too much work or no one wants them. Someone even dropped off some brand new tubular tires I ended up giving away to an old racing buddy. I still have a tubular tire bike but I already have a spare. Take care.
I bought a 1995 trek 730 multitrack about 1.5 years ago for $20 think I could take parts from it for other projects. Then I made a trainer out of it after replacing a few things that didn’t have to be replaced for what I made it into. It is road worthy which was my initial goal when I bought it. I really thought when I bought it I had it sold if I got it road worthy. Great to see another video from you. Merry Christmas.
Best wishes for the holidays from your #91 subscriber! You had exactly 90 subs when i found you. My life is so different now it doesn't feel like the same life. I'm sure you can relate. Merry Christmas RJ! 🎄
Can we see your next video of you cleaning up the bottom bracket & the other parts you removed from this allez?,best wishes for christmas & the new year 🥳🥳
You really inspired me to build my first bike by myself from old pieces I had in my garage. In the end i messed up and brought it to a bike shop to fix it... 😂. But in the future I wanna try it again
I don't like wasting good stuff, and although I was under the misconception that all Allez were Aluminum obviously in the earlier years Merida made them steel :) Specialized only made a small fraction of what was branded Specialized, now only rare ultra expensive S-Works. I would weld that seam up after drilling two holes at the ends of the crack, grind out the rusty paint around it, then make a stationary bike out of it by welding a frame that holds it up, maybe at the crack spot and head tube. Just high enough for toes to clear floor, tilted forward with a high bar, wrap an alternator belt around a kids bike wheel with 130 spacing, and an alternator to charge up your ups/car battery/ies. 300W*hr for an hour of exercise is 300Wh charge, on 2 x 12 batteries that is 12A charging. You can run a PC and monitor all day with that.
Rj some great components to reuse on further project s buddy all the best good health merry Christmas to you the good lady and family from John and family in the uk.😊😊😊
How about getting that repaired? And your thoughts of getting old steel bikes getting repaired? I’m literally interested in fixing up old steel frames but I don’t have anyone close in my area who specializes in bikes, I’m afraid of going to commercial machine shops cause I might just get laughed at. 😅
Wow that frame was definitely gone! Such a bummer. If you have to leave your bikes outside try to bundle them up so they're out of the elements. Even a moving blanket and a tarp could have saved this frame from the trash.

RJ is the originator of bike repair IMO He doesn't have to be the best. He is a legend. 😊

Happy Christmas to you RJ, hopefully you’re getting there on your recovery, nice to have you back.
Educational, no nonsense, straight to point. Thank you, and Merry Christmas.
I live in North Queensland Australia and we don't have the problem of water freezing inside bike frames and splitting them. 😉
This is an american channel. Noone cars about australia.

Very useful, good to see you back online. Merry Christmas.
Always a pleasure to watch one of your videos and a good rehearsal since I don't have many occasions to dismantle an old road bike

I just realized RJ has a very similar voice tone to Trumps, doesn't he? 😁
Nope. I can actually listen to RJ.
Wow that frame was definitely gone! Such a bummer. If you have to leave your bikes outside try to bundle them up so they're out of the elements. Even a moving blanket and a tarp could have saved this frame from the trash.
Thank you, I have learned so much from you. May God bless you.
RJ - I’d like to help you recoup your cost - are those Mavic 196 rims?
Frame repair would of been easy. Just stick weld it with some low carbon rod
What is that crankset?
Lets see a custom build with those parts
Great!
nice video if you work on that bottom bracket post a video :)
Only parts i don't really like are the cranks are a little ugly. Really like the wheels, downtube cable stops, and rear derailleur.
The parts were worth more than what you paid for the whole bike 😊
Are all chromoly frame bikes so susceptible to rust? I want one,but don't want to buy a junk
Steel is susceptible.
@RJTheBikeGuy Never had an issue with hi ten frames rusting, riding through harsh winters
Best to remove the wheels after the bb etc etc etc.
You’re fortunate that the stem and seat post didn’t freeze inside the frame…super pain in the butt to remove.
Those are fun!!!
Bad frame? Well, now it's a Specialized N'allez Pas, not Allez. No more "go" for this bike!
The frame can be used for an art piece to someone’s bike cave.
shame the frame got frozen. a white allez would be pretty fully restored. white tape and saddle...
50 bucks is way too much. The seller should feel lucky to get 15
Audio track in French and it doesn't work when I choose English!
The bottom bracket is sealed im sure you know. Theyre $8 on amazon. Not worth it
Think beyond yourself. There are people in other countries that don't have access to Amazon, and live 500 miles from the nearest bike shop.
👍🫂🫡
Ew, that bottom bracket 🤮
