There are two ways you can travel across the sea. You can either take a plane, or you can take a boat. Planes might get you there faster, but if you want to enjoy the scenic route, you jump aboard a ship! A well-made ship can stay afloat for fifty years or more, and when they're retired, they usually go to a breaker's yard to be taken apart with dignity and respect. Not all ships make it that far, though. Some of them end up being abandoned, each one of them with a story to tell!

i'm not a travelling person, but i really like this type of stuff. abandoned cities, shipwrecks... that's the kind of stuff i'd actually want to visit.
Same!
Titanic was run under is of post
U must be really boring if u don’t like travelling what about holidays
@@MarkJMonaghan that doesn't make someone boring Mark

The last clip makes me appreciate even more how accurate James Cameron got the sinking sequence.
I have never seen a ship made from concrete, but I would love to see one. The idea that concrete can float is a hard one for my brain.
There are several preserved ones.
I was thinking the same thing
Why? Most ships are made of iron and they float.
I’ve been on a 13t sailing boat made of concrete
is to 21 i'm baby
Never knew of concrete ships. Well you always learn something new.
And that's a concrete statement. ;D
The “shabby hospital” was either built amazingly well or has been maintained over the years judging by its condition.
There's also the SS Selma, another concrete ship in Galveston Bay. She struck a jetty shortly after launching, and was towed to a sandbar, and is still visible today. I always used to look for her while taking the ferry, as I was fascinated by the idea that a ship made of concrete could float.
I just mentioned that ship too! It's worth taking a harbor tour if you want to get a good close look at her, she's also visible from Pelican Island.

cool piece of information i did not know thanks for sharing that
I live in Houston I’m definitely going to check that out.. idk how I never noticed it on the dolphin tour in Galveston!

Wonderful!
I went to the Arizona memorial when I was 7 it was one of the coolest vacations I’ve ever been on
was it... memories?
"Klein Kurack-ow" ? I can see the level of research that has gone into this is just AWESOME.
Same with the butchering of "ballina quay"
I really love looking at abandoned places/things like shipwrecks. It's just so fascinating how it looked then and now and what happened to it. Big example: the titanic my favorite shipwreck. How it split into two and how Stoopid the captain and creators were to not put more lifeboats on and to not listen to iceberg warnings, and how if the titanic would have hit the iceberg head on, it most likely would have survived since that would have only hit 1/2 watertight compartments. Also all the pictures underwater it just looks so cool, but the stern got the rough end of the deal. (Sorry this is long)
I have snorkelled in the shipwrecks of Tangalooma..... absolutely majestic and such an experience 😍
Now I’m just getting ready for the weekend
I want to run from the ships but also wish to go back in time and wander through them in their glory days
"there are two ways you can travel across the sea, you can take a plane, or you can take a boat."
submarines: am i a joke to you?
The submarine was already included
Submarines and u boats are technically the same.
There boast but go under the water though u sillys

1:39 - it's not 'Curakow' - the C has a cedilla at the bottom, which means it's pronounced as an S - hence 'Cura SA ow'. (Like the drink).
Quay is also pronounced 'key' not 'kway'

Thankyou! It was irritating to hear 🤣🤣
When we were sailing near the solomons we actually ended up seeing the world discoverer in person!
Lucky you :)

Titnic
I like how seemingly every concrete ship ever constructed became one of these weirdly immortal wrecks.
bro the titanic was crazy
To whoever painted that ship jet black, who the hell hurt you?
It was the respectable thing to do. The Duke’s heyday was when it was a passenger and car ferry, not a rotting canvas for vandals.
Well known shipwrecks include the catastrophic Titanic, Britannic, Lusitania, Estonia, Empress of Ireland, Andrea Doria, or Costa Concordia. There are also thousands of wrecks that were not lost at sea but have been abandoned or sunk.

Funny that most of these ships have out lived the ships that didnt get abandond. Most of the ships were scrapped and these ships still exsist.

You can also find a concrete shipwreck off Galveston Island TX. The SS Selma.
Nice vid
TSS Duke of Lancaster was painted black as she was going to become a zombie themed experience, but that fell through in 2019. As of 5/7/2020 there was talk of it becoming part of a tourist attraction, featuring berthing for houseboats, a fitness boot camp, water sports and other activities.
Now it’s the Duke of Landcaster haha
Good News is this Ship is being used for special events.
Can't believe there was no mention of Truk Lagoon
The Lancaster has good news as it is being reopened for special events in 2021 this year. Love this ship. The ship is moored at Llanerch-Y-Mor Mostyn in North Wales.
Thanks
Thank you
I’m surprised the Ghost Fleet of Mallows bay isn’t one here. It’s on the Potomac and it has over 260 warships. It’s the largest sunken fleet in the Western Hemisphere
I only wanna visit abandoned ships or buildings when there's alot of nature appearing (like alot of leaves and trees) and there's a ton of sunlight when inside, just looks cool
Visited an abandoned building on block island that had vines with leaves growing all inside of it, it was extraordinarily beautiful.
I accidentally came across the Duke of Lancaster several years ago on a walk. She's quite impressive in person, and each year since then I check online to see if she has any updates
I love it
wow so good
Cool boats
I keep going up-and-down Into the water.
I am proud of the guy He have a lot of scribers that’s cool ships I want one
What about in Coron, palawan in Philipines :) there are also Shipwreck there
How Bout MeezWebolz from Mikawhk
Now it’s the Duke of Landcaster haha
Duke of the Lancaster is still there today in 2023
The first Ship was very cool.
Another interesting abandoned ship is thd Royal Iris. It was one of the two “Ferry ‘Cross The Mersey” ships in Liverpool. The Beatles performed to the passengers on their way to fame. It was taken to London years later, where plans to restore and use it were abandoned. It’s still in London, abandoned except for squatters living onboard, listing atop a sand barge, with water pouring in a hole in its hull during high tide.
Notice how many of the ships , have had the brass portholes stripped , off of their hulls.
Why?
@@TheKarateKid2021 Why ?Due to the fact that the portholes and many other fixtures are made of brass. They are of great resale value , to restaurants and other establishments that have a nautical theme .
@@Jay-vr9ir damm that’s pretty cool
@@Jay-vr9ir And for the pure scrap value.

Nice
The Memorial needed repairs, not the ship, if you want an interesting fact, look up how long it's leaked oil, and how much longer they think it'll leak oil. If you get a chance go in person, well worth it. The air base hanger doors still have bullet holes from the attack.
I went on a detachment to Iwo Jima which for anyone who doesn't know was a WW2 battleground between Americans and the Japanese. Tiny little island in the middle of the Pacific between Guam and the Japanese mainland. There's a beach on the southern side of the island past the invasion beach and mount suribachi with multiple shipwrecks, I think they were Japanese cargo ships, they resurfaced as water levels dropped due to volcanic activity. It's extremely chilling to see these concrete goliaths broken into pieces and washed ashore, especially since I am a sailor myself.
I have a beer bottle from iwo imma
Alright guys time for a trip :) ima see most of these wrecks
Take me with u

World Discoverer ship on her side in shallow water, rusting and being taken over by nature. Nice photo of her in tact
I used to work this ship by radio, the last time was late 80s - early 90s.
I am really in to this stuff!
I didn't expect The USS Arizona to be on here, my two 2nd cousins are still aboard. JB and GD O'Bryan were both FC3c's.
I visited the Arizona on the 50th anniversary, I’m sorry for the loss of your cousins, may they always be remembered and forever Rest In Peace !
The ss broomstick is right next to it
Rip
USS Arizona is not abandoned. It is still a commissioned vessel.
8:31 Ive been there it was so cool but kinda traumatising as a kid because it’s possible that there’s human remains down there
There is or at least was. They’ve all probably rotted away by now bless them
Love Nice
Shout out to the ppl in st.louis i love going to that boat i stay right down the street
Just got down there myself the other week. I can't wait to revisit her in the winter when the water is going to be nearly 2 feet lower.
When he was talking about Hawaii I immediately thought of Pirates of the Caribbean- Shipwreck Cove on Shipwreck Island.
Cool😍
Weirdly I was at the Duke of lancaster the other day. Not quite abandoned, but not cared for either.
Over by some islands somewhere near Hawaii holds an entire underwater graveyard full of foreign WW2 warships and holds the Prinz Eugen and a few other famous and scary warships.
Operation Crossroads, they are still radioactive
True
Most are in Bikini atoll, but Eugen made it to Kwajalein and her stern is above water.
That’s at Pearl Harbor if I’m not wrong
@@Karma92008 Bikini atoll and Kwajalein atoll are part of Marshall islands, couple of thousand kilometers west of Hawaii islands.
Why is this so haunting to me
This one time on this cruise to Mexico, while we were going to this beach for the cruise we saw this abandoned ship. It was pretty small but looked like it was there for like a a couple years. Not sure where in Mexico it was though.
think of the safe bird nests that can be built on those wrecked ships!
Thank
Jesus is with us right now he will return don't be scared just believe repent and spread the gospel God bless amen
I remember driving the bridge over the ship in StL
The KMS Admiral Graf Spee in Montevideo would've been a nice addition to the list
The fun ship in PRESTATYN NORTH WALES and it's still there today 🇬🇧
Is that the one where it's like by loys of other boats next to the road
I saw a few days ago it's due to host a food festival or something similar. It's been there as long as I can remember. It's in Mostyn, not Prestatyn, just past Abakhan, by the market.
fun good ship ghostship
Who else was really excited when there was a shipwreck in their country mine is Australia
Shipwreck at the island of Zakynthos Greece. You should check that out.

What about the ship that gained the nickname “The Cursed Ship Of World War II”
I THINK DIS IS COOL
I went to Hawaii 2019 and I love perl harbour
I was really hoping to see Mallows Bay here. It has ships dating back to the Revolutionary War.
Don't forget the 9 cement ships at Kiptopeke! :)
Eastern Shore of Virginia .
Did you find wreck that keeps going individual like completely similar to an elderware itid1878 s in Lanzarote.
The lady Arizona is not abandoned she is a sacred burial space for the men that went down with her.
DC: Agreed. p.s. No need to rush to see her. She won't be going anywhere, cracks or no cracks.
You are right David Crowley
A concrete ship? Bring a Geiger counter!
I love you
I was on one of these ww2 bomb ships and it was abandoned but still kept afloat, it was also being rebuilt
