Good day, I tried this application on the treadmill motor and it failed. Can you help me, where is my mistake? engine information 200v 2.0 hp 3600 rpm 8.5 A. I used a 500k ohm potentiometer and a 320 ohm resistor on the legs, the IGBT malfunctioned.

(dissap.)...250W..WITH an adequate heatsink......so @40A load current...Vce max.allowed is 6V or lower..... @100°C...approx.max.pwr. ( dissap.)..100W.. WITH an adequate heatsink.......so @40A...Vce max. allowed is 2V5 or lower...... In saftey matters it is the device power handling capabilities that matter..... For 10000W many such igbt's have to be driven in parallel... Here 10000W is the total power drawn by the load....& not power loss of devices...
