    The true competitor of the Accord in the US is the Avalon, which Toyota replaced with the Crown. This new Accord is then one of the only true sedan, though it's very stylish. Since other sedans have been retired, they can still produce quite a lot of them. I'd be curious how many they will sell outside the US.

      @@AWMJoeyjoejoe yes sadly, I noticed they stopped selling the Camry in the UK, but they hardly promoted the car in the first place! Also it was too expensive because only the top trim was offered in the UK, not the more basic models, with more basic models, they could have competed with the Skoda superb or VW Passat. Also it didn't make sense for people to buy the Camry when the Lexus ES300h was closely priced with the Camry and they are both using the same platform

    This is a nice update. I have a previous gen Accord Sport, and the only thing I don't really like is the body panel gaps are very large and not consistent, especially around the hood.
    I'm also sad to see the 2.0 turbo is gone. I have it and the torque is outstanding. The hybrid seems to be a downgrade with a trade off for more fuel economy, which is probably a good idea.

    I drive a 2018 Accord LX. One small feature that I appreciate in the 2023 Accord is in the climate control knobs, where they don't change colors when you use them. With my 10th gen Accord, the knob will light up with blue if you bring the temperature down, and red if you turn it up. Which sounds okay, however, it gives you a false sense into believing that blue necessarily means that the car is cooling the cabin, while actually this isn't always true.

    Honda, just perfect...

  • @pulixpulix2420
    @pulixpulix2420 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Wow, everything looked perfect .... until the engines.
    Great quality materials, finally a great entertainment system with google and no lag, comparable interior with Audi and BMW (because Merc's is lower quality). But, only those small engines and no diesel?
    I have the comfort, the looks, the technology, but I can't do a decent overtaking.

      Honda's hybrid system is pretty peppy. The new Civic hybrid in Europe received great reception. Real world 0-100 under 7 seconds with great fuel economy.

    • @pulixpulix2420
      @pulixpulix2420 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Frost1758 Yeah, but can it compete with a 2.0 diesel from 2007 of BMW, Audi or Merc? I'm not saying that I want a diesel, I am just saying I want also top range engines to choose from. Ok, the small engine delivers, but still, it can't compete.
      Why not have a big engine, powerful engine to choose from? Because Honda is eco? Give me a break. It's because they are harder to build and difficult to maintain.
      Big engines remain on the lost ONLY to the premium brands: BMW, Audi, Merc

    • @Frost1758
      @Frost1758 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pulixpulix2420 yeah I think it hurts Honda when they narrow the engine selection so much. Also when they offer only CVT transmission. They should have kept the 2.0T dct variant for the accord.
      When it comes to other manufacturers, everyone is downsizing engines due to emissions now. A large SUV like Volvo XC90 uses an overstressed supercharged 2l engine. Latest C class is all 2l 4 cylinder engines, even their top of the line C63 is now a phev.
      But if hybridization is the only way to keep the ICE, Honda should start developing some more performance oriented hybrid versions. For example there was an Acura MDX performance hybrid, but it seems Acura decided to skip the hybridization phase and jump straight to EV.

    Honda really needs to figure out how they are going to market their cars and then make cars for that basis. I seems like it's hard for them to make cheaper cars, and it's pretty clear that in many markets people aren't willing to choose Honda's there. So what should they do? Go more upmarket and cancel Acura (which in pop-culture is called the poor man's Audi/BMW, etc) and be more of a luxury/style brand? Or try to compete against Hyundai/Kia and the mid-market European brands and base their succes on Civic and Accord-sales in the US?
    Right now, their new design line get pretty positive responses, but whether people will buy the cars is a whole different thing.
    We can tell that in Europe, the simple answer is that people will not buy Honda's. They didn't sell when they made a lot of sense and had some of the best mobility solutions in a very popular segment (the previous Civic), and this isn't going to chance now. And leasing companies don't like the statistics so the monthly amount will be as high or higher than even that of premium brands.

    Hondas use to have a top 3 shape in the industry. I think this is a step I. The right direction. What made Hondas look so good was that no other car looked like them. They literally had their own shape.
