    You can see the storage pits very clearly from above.

      You can. It helped that it was winter time and the foliage was bare.

      +Mandy Campbell It's an eerie place, (or I felt it was) so that sombre music hit the right note.

    Nice one Andy makes me want to see a full documentary on this, especially if shot so sleekly and with such emotive sound!

    Thanks for sharing Andy, only a drone could get these shots! Thumbs up ere' - love the music :-)

      +Shaun Matthews thanks Shaun, not without drama this one... I clipped the top of that lone pine at the start and fell from the sky, it was very nasty. Repaired and airborne again though.

      Andy Ballard It happens, glad you got airborne again!

      Thanks! All done a few years back, and without FPV! (Phantom2 with GoPro4)

    Well done Andy and thankyou for doing this. The opening shot of the tree made me laugh as you said you hit a tree! I bet the Archaeology society are very happy with the effort you made to do this. Thanks again for taking the time and for a good cause. Hey show us the crash lol

      +UAV HDTV Cheers Lee, yep, I cringe every time I see that tree. I may do a crash compilation... I have had a few in the last year.

    Wow, when did they remove the trees? Haven't been there for a while. I wonder how they got the tree roots out without collapsing the holes.

      I'm not sure Dave, I've never been up there when there were trees.. This was a few years back now. I know that an archeological group spent a lot of time digging there.

    A load of rocks with holes in. Prefer to see trees

    • @MrAndyballard
      @MrAndyballard  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well... it's an historic site... those holes are actually ancient grain & food stores from the iron age.

      @@MrAndyballard although there is some debate about the holes actually being part of the original Fort! The drone flyover footage is spectacular however. Would you ever do one over birnbeck pier?

    • @MrAndyballard
      @MrAndyballard  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dean9235 Cheers. Birnbeck's a tricky one... I did take a successful still of it, which is on me IG page. It's tricky because there's no spacious take off and landing spot, it's all v congested. Unless you get onto the beach of course. And then there's the 500m lateral limit on the distance you can fly a drone out too. I passed my PfCO recently and don't want to put that in jeopardy flying outside of VLOS (visual line of sight).

      @@MrAndyballard I understand. If you ever do get to you will have a unique perspective of an old girl who is about to undergo some change. It will never look the same again. Best of luck.
