  • Heritage Day is dedicated to honouring our country's diverse culture and heritage, looking back at our past and the sacrifices made by those who laid down their lives for our democracy and freedom.
To heal the wounds of the past injustices, the South African government will tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Waterkloof Airforce Base, receive the mortal remains of former liberation heroes and heroines who passed away in Zimbabwe and Zambia. This is part of a broader repatriation and restitution programme to honour their struggles and bring closure to loved ones. To reflect on the significance of this process and how it has contributed to our country's heritage and national identity, we are joined virtually by Professor Pitika Ntuli, Cultural analyst and the CEO of the National Heritage Council of South Africa, Dr Thabo Manetsi. Good morning.

Our languages are fading away under ANC government. Schools were modified to be engines of our values. Homelands then, regarded us as living beings. Where are those cultural villages? Languages are our personal identities.

Connect the dots - from Colonial destruction of our cultural heritage to the bones of the departed souls being brought home. the road to healing is longwinded and the political will has but been hollow. RIP Hlengiwe Mkhize former commissioner of the highly inadequate TRC.

SA past injustices you say???? Does it look like we are any better off nowadays without that "injustice" ???? We are in the worst grip of "injustice" since "apartheid" with our "first world" democracy

National identity, without personal identity is only about symbolism....a lot of activities but no value...
