Com'n guys, little scientific precision to those opinions :-). And I have to stress out one thing that was forgotten (even with your stream with Gene) - the test shall not be that much about audible differences but mostly about how much of the "parasitic" noise/sound modulation the cables introduce to original sound/signal (in other words, a cable could sound objectively better however it might be worst since it brings things to sound that should not be there ). And there is the thing about false marketing and lying just to sell a cable for ridiculous price. Hope my comment is understandable (forgive my EU English).Take care 👽
By the time you all find out that anything beyond 10 ga stranded copper from Lowe's is a total waste of money for speaker wire you will have already depleted your 401k. No hate...just facts.🙁
I have all Kimber Cable for my main system. I have much cheaper cables and interconnects for the system in my home office. I have switched them out, I have used the same rack mount Furman power conditioner and I can honestly say that it’s not so much about the sound quality or clarity in the two systems as it is about noise or the lack thereof. When using my Kimber Cables I noticed a cleaner sound in each system but not some amazing sonic soundstage differences. This is the age old debate that really goes all the way down to the wiring in your home, the type of circuits you have installed and the power conditioner you are using. In conclusion, if you have the money to spend on a proper power conditioner and high end speaker wire and interconnects, then go for it. But if you are on a budget, spend your money on preamps, amps, speakers and your girlfriend or wife. You will be better off in the end.
I have been an audiophile for 30 years. Different cables do sound different. Kimber 8TC is a legend. It has been around for over 30 years. I started with 8TC. Audioquest is also good brand. Monoprice is great value., Matching cable to your system is very important. I wonder if these cables were broken in before the test.
When I watched this video, the first thought I had was, "So, this is what the placebo effect looks in real life when vocalised as audiophile jargon." No-one in the history of HiFi has ever demonstrated sonical differences between cables. In fact, in a blind test audiophiles cannot even tell a coat hanger from an interconnect wire (has been tested) -- so irrelevant is the wire as a piece of equipment. It need even not be copper or silver to be indistinguishable from a high end cable. Autosuggestion is amazing. People can hear anything -- till the effect is controlled, in which case the differences magically disappear. Always, inexorably.
@@mechantl0up You're lying. How do I know? The tests you're referencing don't exist. You can't produce one well done test to back up one word of what comes out of your mouth. Every single word is made up BS. Prove me wrong and I'll be happy to take it all back and apologize.
@@dynamicallychallenged You're giving him too much credit. He's lying. I know for a fact he can't produce any of those tests he's talking about. Here's a story you'll find entertaining. I used to set people like him up back when I had my store. I took 2 identical cables that were exactly the same with the exception of the conductor. The copper cable was AQ Panther, and the silver one was AQ Cheetah. If you look at the specs, they're identical. I put both pairs on a CD player with 2 sets of identical outputs, and each cable got a channel on the preamp. To A-B them, you just switched channels on the remote. It was instant, and any difference had to be the cables. Nothing else was changed. Every time I played the demo, they said they can't hear the difference. The look on their face always said otherwise. Depending on the how they were acting, I would say something like, "Well, maybe you just don't have an ear for this type of thing. You probably couldn't tell the difference between 2 amplifiers." I was baiting them into a challenge. Of course, they all said they can hear the difference between 2 amps. That's easy. So I went behind the racks and made like I was changing something around. I didn't touch anything. I played them the exact same cable demo and told them they were listening to 2 different amps. Now they can hear the difference and gave me an exact description. When I told them they just described the difference between silver cables and copper cables, they got so mad. But it was funny to watch. "You tricked me!!!", "Yes I did." They're always screaming for a blind test. Well, I gave them one. And they passed.
That Guy is Snake Oil salesman! IF you can not hear the change in cables GET OUT OF PURE AUDIO!!! lol He is calling people who do hear correctly how cables effect sound WEAK MINDED people who let there mind trick them BUT HE is the one TRICKING YOU ALL......
The Kimber cables measure much better than the Audioquest. The Audioquest cables have a lot more distortion. I recalibrate when changing cables. That gives you a better idea as to what is possible with each cable.
Actually, there's no debate. If you think that it's well worth every penny, buy expensive cables. Personally, I don't. I just ask for the right diameter (4mm2 in my case). Dito for turntable or CD player. No tangible difference between a 1000€ or 5000€ one for me. That's why I concentrate on, first, speakers, where the difference is significant to my ears. Secondly amplifier for its technical features. In my case, Yamaha connected amp ⅓ - Focal Speakers ⅔ and just 200€ for 3m speakers cables. Apple Music online. Period. But it's only me.
When a cable carries the signal properly, you are getting all the information. So If your ears are hurting with the monoprice, it has to be the system?? By saying the other two cables do not hurt your ears, I will take that with a pinch of salt. I have AQ, Chord, Atlas, QED cables. The differences are extremely small - to the point one might do slightly better with dynamics, another cable might do slightly better with timbre or timing. A cable hurting your ears! Not sure about that one. My LS50's are very detailed. My Cambridge CXN V2 is tonally smooth and rich sounding. My Marantz PM8005 amplifier has a good tonal balance. All three components synergy well together. So even when I plug in the freebie interconnects or coaxial cables my system never once hurt my ears. I recently purchased a Zen Dac that has a nice Burr-Brown chip inside, and I can listen to the Zen Dac for hours without any fatigue. I pulled the trigger on a AQ cinnamon USB Type-A B cable, but after watching this video! I will buy a Monoprice USB to compare..
Two kids talking nonsense about what cables can do, cable foo that has been repeatedly proven as bullshit in the proffesional world and by proffesionals who's field is cable and data. All that magic you hear on those recordings with high end gear, was recorded with cable costing cents per meter. So when you make claims about any high end cable, you contradict the point. If your hearing all that magic, it proves the budget cables used to master are just as good as the most expensive cables, otherwise all a $100'000 cable could EVER do is replicate the information passed by the control master, IE what was used to transfer the data onto the recording. If your contesting that then your basically claiming cheap cables cannot reproduce such detail, therefor it can't be on the recording, and your cable is either adding detail or remastering a copy of a recording made 30 years ago just for you. And we all know you cant take a black and white recording, and make it a colour recording simply by changing a cable. Which is pretty much just how dumb audiophiles who wax on about cables are being.
