@@QuestionQuestionMark No when critics have to deal with a new show they must rate it with the current scales. GOT is a show almost everyone remembers and it set the standard of the industry right now. It's the natural way to easily rate The Witcher. And I don't know why The Witcher should be unique in any way. It's just a new try to get viewers in the grand scale fantasy show target group like Lord of the Rings will soon be. It's a good show with many flaws and comparing it to GOT reveals those flaws in a way everyone can comprehend quickly .
@@iceTime999 Honestly, at the moment I think there are more creative folks trying to learn from the mistakes of GoT than those who are trying to replicate it. It's a good lesson that can warn you not to botch your characters and story mid to late game, not to lose your faithfulness to your material even when you have to be looser in your adaptations, and most importantly, to avoid dishonoring your characters by having them betray everything they stood for back when the show wasn't a dumpster fire. I find the world of the Witcher, its characters, concepts and overall lore far more enticing than GoT, and it's actually funny how much GoT consciously or unconsciously took from the books in terms of characters, villains and themes, though it seems Witcher will always be seen as a copy cat, as if GoT invented fantasy storytelling, themes or drama on the TV screen, which is beyond laughable to me.
@@Bad_At_Parties I don't think there is much to learn from the mistakes of GOT. The only mistake is that they rushed the last seasons which lead to a hasty ending. Of course this is a big mistake and ruined the endings of most character arcs and the main plot, but it's not on the artistic level, that was a business mistake. And I don't exactly agree with GOT taking much from Witcher. As fantasy series I think both have pretty different focuses. I personally like Joe Abercrombie's _The First Law_ much more than _Song of Ice and Fire._ Those series have more similarities. But I wouldn't worry with the copy cat thing. I've never heared of anyone who thinks that. WOuld not make any sense looking at the original book series anyway.
