I've made it, eventough the surface of my pancakes not awesome like yours, but it's taste creamy, the texture is soft, and thick, and dense. I liked it. But my niece doesnt like it much because unsweetened, less sugar.

Your recipe looks soooooo good but I swear, every time I make any kind of pancake and follow each recipe exactly as it says my pancakes still don't come out. Either they look good but are still raw in the middle or they just don't come out right. But I am definitely willing to give your recipe a try and I sure hope they come out.
    Thanks♥

Good recipe, however, skip the whole milk. Separate the eggs 1 whole, 2 whites. Whip the whites into peaks then fold into batter, much fluffier. Also, cook pancakes in a thin layer of bacon grease. Trust me here.

+BandoRando make buttermilk at home - works great - 1 1/2 c milk, 1 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice - mix together and let sit 15 min then use as buttermilk. Great flavor and works well with her recipe for 1 1/2 c buttermilk. For one cup use 1 c milk and one tablespoon lemon juice!! It's not the "cultured" thick buttermilk but has same taste results. I used 2% milk and it works great. The pancakes turned out WONDERFUL !! Great recipe.

+Sakwayi Martin I also substituted the sugar (I'm diabetic) for truvia baking mix (in groc stores) using their chart on package to equal the measurements in her recipe.

When I was a teenager I got a Charlie Brown cookbook and it had a recipe for American pancakes. I'm Danish and our pancakes are like the French ones (thin). As a child I lived in the US for 3 years but never tried the pancakes. The recipe was with buttermilk and whipped eggwhites. so for all these years (40) I have been making them because they may not get as thick as these but they are so light. During the years I tried American mixes but they were awful. It's like sawdust in them. I hate the texture. Then 6 years ago I went to New York for a vacation and off course had to get pancakes. I tried some in different Places and to my surprise they all tasted like the mix ones. Sawdust is not the right way to describe it but it's like a cake inside. While my own are just not like that. I use buttermilk, melted margarine/butter, 1 egg, flour, baking soda, baking powder, a Little salt and a Little sugar. I know yours has milk too so I have to try them out to see if they are any different. They really look good. And you may ask yourself if my own recipe is so good why don't I stick with that:) Well I hate whisking eggwhites:) And to be honest I just can't figure out why whisking the eggs should do that much to the texture. Do you have any thoughts on that? Oh and the cookbook is American. Thank you for sharing this delicious looking recipe:)

Sugar is necessary. It helps bring out the flavor. But not too much, like she did. Maybe a teaspoon.
