If you’ve seen his whole filmography, you see over the years he’s played pretty depressing characters. I think he’s only had one first lead role( correct me if I’m wrong) and most of the time he plays a character that has a messed up background. I’ve been slightly following him since ‘my strange hero’ and his background ever since has been filled with these character with sad backgrounds. He was the disowned son in ‘it’s okay to not be okay’ and then Vincenzo and now big mouth, it seems like he’s the nations tragic, and trauma filled childhood character However from what I’ve researched after posting this comment was that he sometimes gets a funny cameo in dramas however he usually plays a character with a sad background
Kwak Dong-Yeon is such an amazing actor! Too bad that he doesn't get more leading roles. Such a shame really. Will watch this drama just because of him

A lot of u saying that he only plays depressed, fcked up characters (there are some where he gets smaller happier roles, but these are more memorable) For example: Vincenzo, Big mouth, It’s okay not to be okay, not well known short movie called “Slow” w him being the main…depressed character. Then there is “monstrous” where he played an evil, fcked up character. It’s bc he is an amazing actor u can’t deny. I’m very sad he didn’t get a real happy lead role, but it’s bc it would be weird seeing him in a romance happy drama and wasting that talent he has if he can portray beautifully these characters, that are hard to play. He is young, his time will come to shine even more. We just have to continue support him ;)) Check out btw these dramas
