Ahhh, great point! Looking into the data more, the Shiv Stage 2 win rate is 73% with 5.5k instances and the Shivinate charm has a 78% win rate and 4.7k instances at GM+ (metatft has charm data). In Stage 3, shiv has a 61% win rate with 7.6k instances and the Shivinate charm has a 63% win rate and 1.4k instances. So for Stage 3 (and prob Stage 2), it's still a positive win rate item, but I might lower it to A tier as a result of this insight.
1 think I found weird when I saw ppl say rageblade is better early game than late game have ppl never actually looked at the items stacks ? It is obviously better late game because it multiplies you damage by giving attacks speed so you get more actives on hit procs etc. and it stacks more and faster later into the game when you have more sources of attack speed from other items or traits quicksilver for example helps rageblade alot.@@LearningTFT
If you have 3 components, you don't have frontline for hardcore backline. Midgame you start building 2* frontline and tank items. No need to change your hypothesis

Only been playing tft for a month now. I’ve have managed to hit platinum, but I’ve been trying to work on my salmin game to continue to climb. This video is a God send, thank you so much.
Another great video. You probably already have plans for future videos but I would love to see tips on how to manage economy or other small fundamentals
Yeah, I've been meaning to aggregate all my coaching notes over the last couple of years. But that's a much larger project. For now, I'm just focused on sharing my current research process. I'll def bump up the priority on that though.
Aesah made an interesting tweet about the low AVP of QSS being skewed because it's often taken by players who survive and pick it up from late game carousels
Yeah, the fact that it has the worst win rate in Stage 2 confirms that it's not good early. Though its high win rate in Stage 4 indicates it's already good at that phase of the game, and players aren't usually dead by Stage 4, so it's not just survivor bias.
@@LearningTFT yeah it's not an item I generally lean towards building unless I need to because of item economy, but it seems to have a solid negative delta on all of the melee carries, definitely something to consider than the more common bruiser items
Hey! I never comment on anything but just wanted to pop in and say it's incredibly refreshing to see your take on breaking down the analytical side of TFT into digestible, teachable concepts for people. This is a side of the game that while relatively well integrated into the average player thanks the abundance of different websites nowadays I think still has a lot of room to be explored - I think TFT is great because at its best it presents itself as game of problem solving and like you said, the amount of information you process and how adept you are at parsing that matters a lot. Please continue to make great content, and if you would like, I would love to study together sometime! I've likewise been climbing infinite this patch with a similar methodology to research and it would be fun to bounce ideas off someone else!
note warmogs falls off because as you get better units the 600 hp is less efficent anything flat (true flats are shiv, bramble, and warmogs) is strong early falls off late
The morello/sunfire/red buff conversation has been a rather interesting one to me, as a lot of players seem not to value sunfire very much this set. As recently as patch 14.17, I've seen players not prioritize sunfire very much, with the idea that even slamming it early for a win streak might ruin your chances of making two powerful items in morello and gargoyle (and maybe even nashors). I've not watched that much gameplay for 14.18, but I still see some players hesitant to slam sunfire. Do you think this is just people adjusting to the patch and we will see sunfire rise in priority?
My guess is most players watch streamers & YT videos talk about how Sunfire is bad. And most players greed for BIS without considering the value of win streaking early game. So unless people learn to be more nuanced in their approach to the game, and flexible if win streaking makes sense, I doubt Sunfire rises in priority much.
That's a great idea, especially since sugarcraft's entire game plan is built around surviving/scaling into the late game. Slamming strong Stage 2 items can help you preserve HP and put pressure on the rest of the lobby.
I’m very surprised that vow is good on stage 2 and has such a high win rate. I’m high currently and have hit chall for 3 sets and I would only slam vow early for win streak or if I’m committed to ad since killing a tear like that is kinda sus for item economy if you are flexing for ap. I also feel like vow is not that impactful as a tank item and I value it more for helping tanks like tk and Diana cast in the late game. Also since it’s not rlly like a main tank item, the win rate might be high just because they are built less often and are more likely to be left over items for players with extra item
Looking at the data in Stage 2, Vow is particularly strong on shapeshifters (Swain 70% win rate, Shyvana 70% win rate). This makes sense since Vow helps them cast faster, which boosts their HP, after which they get a % HP shield from their increased HP. It also has a 64% win rate in Blitz. And then it doesn't fall off that much in late game since you have Tahm Kench, Rakan, and Diana as solid late game item holders.
Maybe giant slayer just overall sucks lmao. But it could be that people who slam GS have to slam because they are going to die and they just die anyways 🤷♂️ meanwhile the people who got rewarded for greeding BIS are upping their item stats
Shiv falls off a lot late, so prob won't be too strong. One shiv and a rageblade together can dish out a lot of damage though in the early game since the AS stacking boosts the shiv procs.
@@nojaodoggo2896 not infrequently. It's not preferred but sometimes you just need to kill components. It's solid on carries that have AOE abilities since there's high likelihood they hit a shielded enemy to get damage amp.
@@nojaodoggo2896 I won't prioritize it but if the components are there and it makes sense I'll slam it. Glove isn't great for AP lines so guardbreaker is a good way to kill a glove. Yeah, solid on karma and ryze.
Very likely the stats on stage 2 shiv is skewed by the shivanate charm
Ahhh, great point!

Death blade isn't flat damage, it's 50% ad. It used to be flat dmaage but riot reworked it a long time ago.
Ah, yes, good point.
I thought armor pen was way stronger early game then what it’s tiered here. Since most of the dmg is AD early on.
While it's true that most damage is AD early, enemy tanks rarely have much armor in Stage 2, so it's not as valuable.
note warmogs falls off because as you get better units the 600 hp is less efficent
anything flat (true flats are shiv, bramble, and warmogs) is strong early falls off late
True. Though Warmog's also gives you +12% max HP, so it does scale somewhat as you move it from a 1-cost to 4-cost tank.
