For Hagia Sophia's murals, Ottoman didn't erase but covered them. That's why murals are protected and could be visible to the eye with small intervention. If you say "erase" it will be thought as Ottoman damaged the murals which is not true. Just for praying reasons they're covered. Let's not cause misunderstandings.
