This sandwiching trick is a classic technique. Great explanation, Jim!

      Don,
I've used this technique in other tutorials, but I often look for a fresh opportunity to showcase it as it is very useful in a number of situations Thanks for the feedback, Don! Hope you are doing well. --Jim

Always great videos, Jim. I have an unrelated issue that you can hopefully help me with. To explain it simply, I have situations where I have a image on a time line by itself below a track that may have a video or another image in it and want to transition from the higher track video/image to the image on the track by itself. In my latest case, I was using a swipe transition. I can place the transition at the beginning of the image by itself and when the playhead reaches that image, it uses the transition to that image. The problem is, I can't change the length of the transition. I thought I used to but when I modify the transition to say, 3 seconds, it doesn't make the transition last 3 seconds. It makes the transition start 3 seconds into the image, then still plays the transition quickly. I can't get the transition to start at the beginning of the image and play more slowly. Like I said, I THOUGHT I used to do that but maybe I'm wrong. Is there any way to fix this that you know of? Thanks again. You've been helpful with other questions so I know that if there's a fix, you'll find it!

You mention the swipe transition. I don't have that in my collection. Here's what you might try. put a color board or video of any kind on the track next to either clip. Then turn the opacity of that color board or clip down to zero. It's just acting like a placeholder. Then put the same transition on both tracks at the same place. You can change the duration of both (as long as they are identical) and thus vary the speed of the transition. --Jim

I do something similar but I have the title come "out of hiding" then move to centre-screen enlarged. I'll provide a link to a video I did recently that shows what I did. I'll then explain how I achieved the effect.

It's fun to make a title show up unexpectedly, isn't it? --Jim

@@SharperTurtle Yeah. The tricks you can achieve, you can add a comic touch to videos!
