    Thank you for this! For me the call/microphone quality is by far the most important and I don't care about noise cancelling or audio quality so much. I find it weird the review are not focusing on it more. Based on this I will now probably buy the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 over the Jabra elite 10 which I had in mind, as it seems Jabra did not so good job on the microphone quality after all.

      Yes, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 are probably the best but least reviewed or talked about TWS Earbuds. Definitely most people (and other reviewers) are sleeping on these and don't realize how good they are in ANC, Sound Quality, Transparency, and by far the Best Voice Call Quality, that no other TWS Earbuds come close to!

      @@weekendgearguide Yes absolutely agree with you. I was skeptical about them and never thought of them. But ur reviews are probably best.straight to point and not like other reviewers. Think watched all ur reviews when compared twith freebuds pro 3 and got them. 1+ month now and not a single issue. use just one ear bud for teams calls as well. No one hears anything apart from my voice :)

    Thank you for this and other videos, amazing job!
    Given your wide experience with earbuds, could you share your thoughts on the following, please:
    1) What is your impression of sound quality and ANC for Jabra Elite 10 (latest firmware) vs. Huawei Freebuds 3 vs. Denon Perl Pro vs. Technics AZ80?
    2) Is Elite 10 really the best TWS from Jabra overall? I know they are positioned at the top of their product line, but I've heard opinions that some older/"lower" models are better.
    I used to have AZ80 for some time, I liked them a lot. But I hoped to find better call quality and comfort with the same sound quality, so I've returned them.
    I have then tried and rejected Apple Airpods Pro 2 - their sound signature and sound stage turned out to be a noticeable step back from AZ80. Of course, ANC, Transparency, and mics of APP2 are better than in AZ80. But that was not enough for me to justify the sacrificing music-listening experience.
    Now I have Elite 10, Pearl Pro, and Oneplus Buds 3.
    I guess Buds 3 have a slightly better sound signature than Elite 10 but still a bit smaller sound stage. The mics performance does not seem to be as good as it claimed by a few reviewers - I'd say Elite 10 do their job better. Of course, for $100, Buds 3 are great (I haven't tried anything else in this price range though). But I ordered them only because of some high recommendations for outstanding call quality. Apparently, that's not the case, so I'm going to send them back.
    Elite 10 are a bit disappointing from the sound signature. They sound a bit dirty. To me, they lack resolution in highs. And the equalizer in the app did not help me to tune them better.
    But overall they are pretty good - especially given their comfort and lightweight.
    Perl Pro are amazing in sound signature and stage (after the personalization). I wish I could compare Pearl Pro face-to-face with AZ80, but from my memory (which is not a super reliable thing of course), they sound ar list slightly better than AZ80. But their mics are disappointing. And ANC/Transperancy is worse then in AZ80. Besides, I'm not sure about the fit comfort. Still need to try foam tips. Case size and experience of taking the buds out of the case are also beaten by AZ80. So I'm not sure about them. Looks like AZ80 are still better than Perl Pro overall.
    To summarize, as a perfectionist, I'd be happy to find something sounding like Pearl Pro or AZ80, with the comfort of Elite 10, the mic performance of Huawei Freebuds Pro 3 (given your test results), and ANC/Transparency of AirPods Pro 2 :)
    But the reality is different, so I need to find some compromise. Your videos are super helpful with that, so really appreciate your effort!
    And thanks to you, I'm going to place an order for Freebuds 3 to give them a try.
    If you have any thoughts to share based on the above (additionally to the questions I asked), please do :)
    If I'm not mistaken, you also (like me) put Pearl Pro and AZ80 on top of the TWS list in terms of sound quality, so I assume our sound taste is similar, that's why I guess your opinion (which is subjective, of course) would work for me.

      @@Tiger1016. Unexpectedly, I ended up with Jabra Elite 10. I still think their highs are not as crisp as I wish. But. They have an amazing sound stage - and this is something I realized later than I wrote my initial comment. And I realized that means to me a lot as it really changes the perception of music. Also, they are pretty good from mic perspective in my conditions. I mean, Huawei are better for sure in mics but Jabra is good enough no doubts.

    Are you using Huawei phone for the test? Read online that for the mic to sound this good the phone will need to be Huawei or same chipset as Huawei phones (i.e. Kirin).. Personally using a Samsung so not sure if I will benefit from such good mic quality on phone calls if I were to get the Huawei Freebuds Pro 3

      As shown at @1:50 time mark which briefly shows my test methodology, I use the iPhone and Zoom App for iOS. Note the firmware version, App version and OS versions are also shown for each of the Earbuds in each of the Comparisons in the video.
      The HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 work on any Android phone the same as it would work on any iPhone, since it uses the same standardized Bluetooth HSP/HFP Profile and mSBC audio codec. So what you hear in this comparison on iPhone is exactly the same microphone voice call quality as what I get when I test on my Android phone.
      If using a HUAWEI Smartphone (which needs to be the Mate 60 or newer) there are no benefits in terms of voice call quality vs what you were hear in these videos on iPhone (or if I used my Android phone). The only benefits you would get when using the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 with the latest HUAWEI Smartphones are Spatial Audio, Lossless L2HC codec and super wideband one way audio recording over Bluetooth when recording a selfie video for example (which is not the same audio quality you would get for phone calls and video conference calls, since these use standard Bluetooth HFP/HSP profile and standard Bluetooth mSBC codec)
      Cheers!

    I'm concered with audio quality when connected to Windows PC since these products use Bluetooth HFP. Does your testing account for this? Ie sound quality in both directions while mic is active like on Zoom. Looks like the Elite 10s advertise TMAP profile via a future update which should help address this, have you tested TMAP successfully on any devices?

    • @weekendgearguide
      @weekendgearguide  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello and thanks for watching.
      For testing and comparing, the Earbuds are connected to an iPhone using the Bluetooth HFP/HSP, and using the Zoom App for iOS, as outlined in the Test Methodology @1:50 in the video and linked at the top right corner @1:50 for more details on the Test Methodology.
      Although connecting these Earbuds over Bluetooth to a PC would use the same Bluetooth HFP/HSP, the problem with using the PC is the Zoom Application for the PC, which adds some automatic background noise cancellation to the sounds coming through the microphone being used, whether it's the PC mic or the mic of the Bluetooth Earbuds connected to the PC.
      Since we want to test the native voice call quality performance of the Earbuds, it's best not to connect them over Bluetooth to the PC using the Zoom Application for Windows to avoid Zoom from adding it's own noise cancellation.
      This is why Zoom App for iOS is used, since there is no noise cancellation available on the Zoom App for iOS.
      As for TMAP, there are no Bluetooth Earbuds or Headsets that I know of that support this yet for voice calls, although EPOS Impact 1000 series do support their own proprietary Super Wideband 16Hz implementation but only when using it's USB Dongle connected to PC.
      Finally, supporting TMAP or higher frequency bandwidth, does not necessarily mean good audio in all situations. As you can hear, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 have a very good Noise Cancellation Technology which gives it an edge in every comparison when there is loud noise in the background, even beating some Professional Headsets from Jabra with a boom mic (eg. Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex) in loud noise scenarios.
      Cheers!

    Hi, I have purchased the Huawei freebuds pro 3 based on your reviews 2 days ago and I couldn't agree more regarding the phone call quality. But the battery run time is terrible and I am struggling to find the battery run time during phone calls in real life tests. Could you kindly help me with this, how long do they last when used for only phone calls? I am getting hardly 2 hours, I use one earbud at a time and no ANC or transparency modes. I have done the hard reset and still the same. It can't be right to have under 2 hours of talk time. Please, I really appreciate your hands on experience and look forward to hearing your real time call run time. Many many thanks.

      Hello and thanks for watching and good to hear at least the voice call quality is working out for you.
      As for the battery drain you are experiencing, they should last longer than 2hrs, at least they do for me for my Zoom calls.
      I will try to monitor my battery life for cellular voice calls, but I expect it should be better than Zoom calls since there should be less transcoded kbps of data pushed through the mSBC codec than in Zoom calls.
      One area I have tested from 100% battery to full drain is music streaming + video streaming audio playback.
      Here's my results:
      ------------------
      Right Earbud -> 4hrs 27min
      Left Earbud -> 4hrs 19min
      Here's my settings:
      -------------------
      ANC set to General
      Apple iPhone - AAC codec
      40% volume level
      95% of the time within 5ft of phone
      Mostly Spotify Music Playback and TH-cam
      30 min driving with Constant Loud Noise + 25 min in Dynamic Loud Noise + Quiet surroundings rest of time
      Cheers!

      Hello and thanks for watching!
      I'm not sponsored by any manufacturer or retailer, honest to God! I purchase all the products I review using my own finances.
      Check out my previous videos where I had ranked the Sony LinkBuds S as having the Best Voice Call Quality. It doesn't mean I am sponsored by Sony? No, it means that at that time, Sony LinkBuds S, based on all the TWS Earbuds tested at that time, was the Best TWS Earbuds for Voice Call Quality.
      If you have any suggestions on what TWS Earbuds would beat the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro for Voice Call Quality, I am very interested to hear what that would be.
      I am predicting there will not be any TWS Earbuds this year that will beat the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3, and we'll have to wait for the Apple AirPods Pro 3rd Gen which at that time will have the Best Voice Call Quality of 2025.
