As an Australian I find it really interesting to see how other countries view us as a people and a nation. A lot of these phrases aren't nearly as popular in modern day Australia as the rest of the world seems to believe with most having faded out before crocodile Dundee hit cinemas across the world. However 'cakeage' is a relatively new term used in restaurants to describe the fee of cutting a wedding or birthday cake and providing plates and cutlery with which to eat it.
Haha, love this. I am a proud Australian, but we don't take a trip TO THE woop woop. We take a trip OUT woop woop. The other way sounds soo weird guys.
YES that is true ive counted at least 4 mistake in this video and that was one of them! I know to anyone who not auzzie it dosnt make sense but trust me To us it does
Gracie Owens Kiwi is another word for a New Zealander. They pronounce things differently to us. It's only a very slight difference in the pronunciation of certain vowels but it's enough for us to correctly distinguish between an Australian and a New Zealander.
Where is my Aussie squad who were cringing the whole time also a paddle pop is just one of our frozen treat brands we have like 50 more paddle pops aren't the only one.
Some restaurants charge Corkage when you bring your own wine etc and it can be expensive. Mainly BYOs ones. I guess some charge for bring your own cake. Its got to do with supplying you with plates, spoons etc that they have to clean after you leave, so there is a charge.
Not gonna lie, I mostly looked at the comments to see reactions to Rhett and Link giving money to a refugee charity. But the Australians seemed to have taken over. xD
I know what cakeage meant (as an Aussie), although unfortunately I don't go to fancy restaurants and/or eat cake enough to use it in common conversation.
none of the woop woop answers were right, but you were close. Woop woop isn't a real place. It means "out in the middle of nowhere" or "Really far away" "I bought something online and had to drive all the way to bloody woop woop to get!"
FUZE depends what part of the population you are from? I'm from Victoria where we call potato scallops - potato cakes, poppers - primas, cheerios - Frankfurts or little boys or cocktail franks and the list could go on lol
Rhett your Aussie accent is hilarious also a paddle pop is not slag it is just a brand name (with a lion as a mascot) we call other ones ice blocks or iceypoles
My family has a problem tho With zooper doopers we buy 5 bags then freeze one at a time and eat them then freeze the other and this has been happening for a long time
thats likely because its not a common thing.. and the reason we bring a cake in is for celebrations, birthdays and the like.. only some places charge and they are usually expensive places
I'm Aussie but I've never heard of cakeage or deadhorse for sauce...but then I've never been the same since that drop bear got me at the park that day....
Minty gaming and more yes and no depends on how you look at it mainly a joke because they look like bears and drop out of trees, have sharp claws and can be dangerous
This was hilarious for me because I’m actually Australian 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺. Also everyone I know says tomato sauce or just sauce not ketchup also with we call shrimps prawns.
Australian. Never heard anybody say Cakeage. We have Corkage for if you bring your own drinks to restaurants that allow it, but I'm not sure cakeage is a thing.

Hi! I'm Austrailian, so I'm just gonna say a few things: 1. Rhett's "spot on" Aussie accent is amazing (sarcasm). 😹 2. I didn't think any of this were Aussie slang. I thought it was just English, and "Paddle Pop" isn't slang, it's a brand (I think). 3. AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!!! OI OI OI!🇦🇺😼
Rhett sounds more kiwi than aussie. And it's go to woop woop. There's no 'the', woop woop is not a physical place, it represents somewhere far away. ie "where did Sally go camping" "out woop woop".
Hi I’m Australian and if your wondering, no I don’t ride a kangaroo to school, I also don’t say most of this stuff with an accent like them😂and no one says “ go put the shrimp on the barbie” btw it’s called a prawn! ( Paddle pops are sooooooo good I love the rainbow flavour😍)
I am Australian and around half of these words/statements I have never heard another say before. Although some do use these slang words, especially bogans. Also Rhett I love your attempt at the Australian accent, I can't tell you if you're spot on though. Us Aussies never really hear the accent until you meet a full fledged bogan, (or someone who has a strong aussie accent). Where I live I rarely hear these terms spoken. Maybe it is different in other areas but again where I live I rarely hear this slang used.
idk i'd disagree, i reckon it's all about where you live. Heaps of big cities generally have fewer people who use slang on a regular basis in my experience, plenty out in the smaller towns and cities use slang on a regular basis in comparison
you don't say the woop woop. it's just woop woop. And it's not specifically a little town in the middle of nowhere. It can be used generically for anything that is isolated and far away. For instance, when I used to live an hour from school I would tell my friends I live out in woop woop.
I'm Australian, This is hilarious to watch other people try and guess this stuff😂😂😂 BTW no one speaks like this in Australia except for the BOGANS MATE!
Method no kangaroos are still quite an unpredictable animal and far too clumsy/large to have inside. The mostly just roam in the backyard/paddocks with the other animals.
OHhh noooooo, RHETT NO HAHAHA. Okay, I gotta say, I've heard of CORKAGE, but I've never heard of CAKEAGE. I do know there's a fee to bring your own cake to restaurants, but I didn't know we had a term for it!
It's funny watching this from Australia :P
Hound Life Vlogs an Aussie vlogger! Subbed ❤😊
Hound Life Vlogs Yeah he's accent sounded pretty bogan haha 😂
Hound Life Vlogs I'm watching it from Mexico
Hound Life Vlogs yep same Victoria
Agreed, except he can refine his Australian accent though
Tomato sauce not ketchup if your trying to be an Aussie!!
Hamish Lithgow glad someone else was thinking it!
Hamish Lithgow yess
apparently tomato sauce is actually different and healthier then ketchup
We dont speak English but here tomato sauce and ketchup are totally different 🤔
Abir tamim ikr where do you live like what country I live in Saudi arabia
I'm Australian and when they said cakeage I was expecting it to come up saying: when a girl puts on to much makeup
Potatoe Man same here
Potatoe Man oath
Same. That would be way more appropriate. I didn't know half the stuff in this quiz. Why is every "Australian" thing so weird
Potatoe Man too*
cakeup
I'm Australian, paddle pop is a brand, it's not slang and I've never heard anyone say cakeage before in my life.
LJ this aussie hasnt heard of cakeage either
LJ Nah it's slang cause the brand is so common that people just call ice cream on a stick a paddle pop.
THANK YOU!!
LJ cakeage is like bottleage. Like having to pay to byo... bottleage is more commonly known because... well as an Australian you should know why 😂
Who? where? those people need some help.
And we don’t use paddle pop for everything, only paddle pops
As an Australian I find it really interesting to see how other countries view us as a people and a nation. A lot of these phrases aren't nearly as popular in modern day Australia as the rest of the world seems to believe with most having faded out before crocodile Dundee hit cinemas across the world. However 'cakeage' is a relatively new term used in restaurants to describe the fee of cutting a wedding or birthday cake and providing plates and cutlery with which to eat it.
kylie mac I know right I just find it interesting what people think about our country and culture
THETS NOT UH KNEYEFE
kylie mac like the whole throw a shrimp on the barby. ... wtf is a shrimp it's prawn and why bbq it?
kylie mac i know countless people who say all that on a daily basis.
Haha, love this.
I am a proud Australian, but we don't take a trip TO THE woop woop. We take a trip OUT woop woop.
The other way sounds soo weird guys.
YES that is true ive counted at least 4 mistake in this video and that was one of them!
I know to anyone who not auzzie it dosnt make sense but trust me
To us it does
Laila Ashe I appreciate you saying this so much!!
Laila Ashe yep haha I cringed so bad when they said that
Laila Ashe i say "we take a trip out to the boonies" but i guess its different for everyone
I think Woop-woop is out the backa' Bumfuck somewhere. Near Wheelabarraback, just up the road from Kickaginalong.

Every time an American attempts an Australian accent, they always end up sounding Kiwi.
Gracie Owens Kiwi is another word for a New Zealander. They pronounce things differently to us. It's only a very slight difference in the pronunciation of certain vowels but it's enough for us to correctly distinguish between an Australian and a New Zealander.
Gracie Owens a kiwi is the best nationality ever
+Mischabella Frederick yeah a kiwi to an ozi is what a canadian is to an american (specifically a yank)
Mischabella Frederick IKR
Mischabella Frederick ikr
Im from australia and I only like knew 3 of these and i only call something a paddlepop when its from the paddlepop brand.

Icy pole on the other hand... is also a brand but I reckon if I would call all the other brands icy poles too. Is that just me?
MissyPaiPai no, me too
3 right? You're a joke mate
Where is my Aussie squad who were cringing the whole time also a paddle pop is just one of our frozen treat brands we have like 50 more paddle pops aren't the only one.
Yea here and same with 7 other people who like your comment
Plus i counted 4 mistakes in this video
Also cringing at 'the woop woop'
It's_ Kelly year I just call it ice cream or ice block
It's_ Kelly I cringed every time he said paddle pop. Lol us Aussies don't say it like that
I highly recommend the usage of commas, friend.
also, what the hell is cakeage, no Australian uses that...
Red Drift Gaming I live in WA and I've heard it but its not that common
Red Drift Gaming happens at weddings a lot.
Or Dead Horse.
Born and raised and I’ve ever heard of it
Red Drift I’ve been to restaurants in Brisbane that charge cakeage
Rhett's 'Australian' accent sounds more like a New Zealand accent to me. Coming from an Australian
Emily King no it does not
kiwis don’t open their mouth as much
Emily King exactly especially when he was saying paddle pop
true
the way he said paddle pop was 100% kiwi sounding though
I'm Aussie! Any other Aussies out there? 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

Dinosaur Dude I'm here!
Dinosaur Dude yeah mate

Ari Britton ikr
Ari Britton yah
Ari Britton i feel like you would cry if you attended an english class.
born and raised in aus and i have never heard of cakeage? we bring coles chocolate mud cakes to every occasion
Some restaurants charge Corkage when you bring your own wine etc and it can be expensive. Mainly BYOs ones. I guess some charge for bring your own cake. Its got to do with supplying you with plates, spoons etc that they have to clean after you leave, so there is a charge.
Cakeage is definitely a thing just when you take a cake to a nice restaurant!
5th generation Aussie born, Yeah I've never heard of it either, I reckon it's a pommy line.
@@Mav_F isn't bringing a wine bottle called corkage fee? Then cakeage is just a play on that word
@@Jimbolbian yes I think that is what I was trying to say
Can I just say, paddle pop isn't slang, it's an ice cream brand. Also, bogan is like, a real stereotypical Australian.
He said it's a brand. Just like Popsicle

Natalie Greaves lol that's very adelaide though that everyone in elizabeth is bogan, seen way more bogan people out here in the Far North
Jacob Ottesen I hardly know any of these and I'm Aussie lol
As an Australian I can confirm that absolutely no one has ever said cakeage.
MrPotatoLegs hahah nah! I thought maybe as the term "cake it on", was heaps of food on a plate. was bloody wrong 😂😂
MrPotatoLegs as another Australian I can confirm that I have commonly heard the term 'cakeage'
I know what cakeage meant (as an Aussie), although unfortunately I don't go to fancy restaurants and/or eat cake enough to use it in common conversation.
MrPotatoLegs also as an Australian I can agree with you
Yer never heard of it.

So glad Link apologised for Rhett's horrible accent
Same...
I wasn't that bad..
Jimmy Bagz lol. He sounds more British than Australian.
NO WAY. nah man that sounds more out back to me.
It was pretty bad tbh
They should do a southern slang challenge. I would be very happy since I live in Texas
Rowan Purifoy They're from NC, so they most likely would get all the answers right.
Upvote from Tennessee
/\
I was born in AL, have lived in England, and now am living in MO, where I have lost my accent... ;(

Me too bud
As an Australian, this excited me immensely.

Sorry guys you're wrong! Paddle pop is actually a brand, look it up! We call frozen treats icy poles 🇦🇺
FUZE depends what part of the population you are from? I'm from Victoria where we call potato scallops - potato cakes, poppers - primas, cheerios - Frankfurts or little boys or cocktail franks and the list could go on lol
OutNumbered Family Yeah, so is Popsicle, but Americans call all sweet frozen treats on a stick "popsicles". Hence, slang.
OutNumbered Family some of those are brand names
Oh no... I'm Australian. I've only seen the intro and concerned.

Alpha Fetus m8
i swear he just saw a kiwi speak, and just butchered that so much it ended up up sounding slightly Aussie
Alpha Fetus what if scooby dies? im imagining shaggy tightly hugging his buddy crying and saying. ''hey buddy.... wake up buddy''.
Alpha Fetus Haha, I don't know if I should be offended or laughing😂😂😂
HOW COULD HE GET PADDLE POP WRONG
Lyss Jane maybe because they don’t have PADDLE POPS IN AMERICA
Tony To don't need to be so angry
He pretty much did a Kiwi accent instead of Aussie
Paddle pop is literally a brand of ice cream in india
Rhett your Aussie accent is hilarious also a paddle pop is not slag it is just a brand name (with a lion as a mascot) we call other ones ice blocks or iceypoles

It's awkward whenever anyone tries to do a foreign accent tbh
I agree cuz I'm Australian
Why do Australians seem so awkward in American movies? It sounds so fake to me.
Aaron Jake ikr it's so bad xD
"Paddle pop" is a brand of an "ice block" (the actual Aussie slag for it)
But better luck next time
would you call it an ice block though because it's so different!
I've never heard anyone ever call it an ice block 😭 where I am, it's just an icypole or an ice cream 😂
surfie007 icy pole mate
Stydias Romitri Thank goodness I'm not the only one!

Australian. Never heard anybody say Cakeage. We have Corkage for if you bring your own drinks to restaurants that allow it, but I'm not sure cakeage is a thing.
Deet Cologon cakeage is real.
+Abigail ELEZOVICH I'm suprised they didn't use "have a sook." I was surprised when I learned that nobody knew what that meant when I went travelling.
Me neither. But that might just be because Ive never brought a cake to a restaurant.
Deet Cologon it is definitely a thing! When people bring their own cakes/desserts to a restaurant, it takes away potential profits. The restaurant I used to work at charged $2.50 cakeage per person
I feel so represented😅😂
ok I take that back

All these guys need to do for April fools day is switch sides. Everyone would be shook.😂

It's called the scariest story or something from season 2
EDIT: Spookiest story ever told
Wow, harshness out of nowhere
Hi! I'm Austrailian, so I'm just gonna say a few things:
1. Rhett's "spot on" Aussie accent is amazing (sarcasm). 😹
2. I didn't think any of this were Aussie slang. I thought it was just English, and "Paddle Pop" isn't slang, it's a brand (I think).
3. AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!!! OI OI OI!🇦🇺😼
Tauri Cat also add, wtf is a cakeage
paddle pop is a brand and our accents is horrible once spent 2 months traveling Europe and heard an aussie and nearly vomited
Flog
Can I just say, I don't think it's really English, I didn't know any of them and I'm English.

Ive never heard of it either, and i work at a restaurant 😂
Rhett sounds more kiwi than aussie.
And it's go to woop woop. There's no 'the', woop woop is not a physical place, it represents somewhere far away. ie "where did Sally go camping" "out woop woop".
thank you! Our slang has a very precise lack of grammar that needed to be fixed in these questions
As a kiwi I disagree, New Zealanders are not this enthusiastic.
Hi I’m Australian and if your wondering, no I don’t ride a kangaroo to school, I also don’t say most of this stuff with an accent like them😂and no one says “ go put the shrimp on the barbie” btw it’s called a prawn! ( Paddle pops are sooooooo good I love the rainbow flavour😍)
sorry to dissapoint... rainbow is actually just caramel flavoured
jonathan rademaker O_O.. my life is a lie..
it's ok, use this information to educate...
Shrimp and prawns are different animals. It’s a size difference. Shrimp are native to the us. Prawn to Aus.
I like the chocolate one!
PinkMuffinGirl12 I love me slang, use most of these on the daily. Granted I grew up in a country town. Hah
Which ones haven't you heard of? these were all pretty common apart from Cakeage.
PinkMuffinGirl12 it's because all of them originated in new zealand
Nope you've been to americanized just like most of the younger generation.
you don't say the woop woop. it's just woop woop. And it's not specifically a little town in the middle of nowhere. It can be used generically for anything that is isolated and far away. For instance, when I used to live an hour from school I would tell my friends I live out in woop woop.
And there's a place called Ship Creek there too! ShiP Creek
R U JERRY FROM TOTALLY SPIES?
So Woop Woop in American would be "the boonies", "timbuktu" or "bum-f*ck egypt" lol
yeh pretty much.
You two and your crew should come down here one time 😂
Up the duff lmaoo gets me every time 😂
A paddle pop is not slang it's a company and they have them in New Zealand too, they r usually called iceblocks
Rachelcookie321 yeah thats true
Rachelcookie321 yeah he explained that it was a brand name that become the "norm" much like Band aid is actually the brand not the item.
Rachelcookie321 Wrong, Paddle Pop is a product which is made by the company Streets
yeah but we don't use paddle pop synonymously with iceblocks
I've always used Paddle Pop for milk-based ice creams. Anything water/ice based is an Iceypole.
I'm Australian,
This is hilarious to watch other people try and guess this stuff😂😂😂
BTW no one speaks like this in Australia except for the BOGANS MATE!
William Roberts I only speak like that when I'm imitating a bogan 😂
William Roberts so all the cultured Aussies then. You are living a sheltered life.
maaayyyte
Rhett's "Australian" voice sounded nothing like an Australian. 😂😂
And I have never heard anyone use most of these. 😂
he sounds more like a kiwi
You would probably know them if you actually listened out for them. I hear them a lot.
When link said "I want a dingo to eat to of these babies..." I spat out my drink 😂
Here's a little background on us Australians...
We don't all have a Kangaroo in our backyards ;)
I have a tree kangaroo
Liamem mmm try again sweetie, I ride my kanga to work everyday. It's the best way to avoid drop bears 🐻
So are they like in your house now as well? Like you've domesticated them?? sweet
Kangaroos are just like american Deers. you don't see them in the city.
Method no kangaroos are still quite an unpredictable animal and far too clumsy/large to have inside. The mostly just roam in the backyard/paddocks with the other animals.
I'm Australian and I have never used the word "cakage"
Who else came here to see what the aussies were going to say of this video? 😂
Jh CS:GO me
Jh CS:GO lmfaoooooo frrrr like I felt like the comments were gonna be crazy
Jh CS:GO well, I can say that we don't use all of those slang words! Discovered two of them by watching this episode!
Jh CS:GO Shut up im Australian we are just like Americans except we don't give our children guns
Hailey K. im from europe :
11:17 one of the funniest link moments ever 😂😂😂😂
OHhh noooooo, RHETT NO HAHAHA.
Okay, I gotta say, I've heard of CORKAGE, but I've never heard of CAKEAGE. I do know there's a fee to bring your own cake to restaurants, but I didn't know we had a term for it!
