Great that you did this one with max bonding! Funny thing, my dark bay Shire has never, ever bucked me off around wolves or cougars. With wolves she just rears and lets me take my sweet time killing them, that is if she doesn't stomp them herself lol. Same with cougars, they circle her and she just stands there! It's amazing. She never bucked me off with a grizzly either. With gators she does ok for the most part but if I push her too hard she will throw me off. Haven't tried with a panther yet. But overall she feels a lot braver to me than my Ardennes.
I wonder why Rockstar made two Ardennes coats with much different stats, on the other hand they made shire breed only two coats with same stats, I just wish that they put the black raven shire in online with better stats cause they look tough horse but with bad stats, just bring the black raven shire in online and increase the speed at least 1 also the acceleration and make them max health with max bonding. I hope you see this Rockstar. gosh am in love with this breed but totally disappointed with stats as they look ;(
Three coats for shire the black shire(the one that hosea gives you)has 4 health and stamina and it's beautiful! It's black and soon big if you ride with Lenny in any mission his horse looks like ant

I lost my beloved shire in the story, had a ton of sad tears, when I heard there was a strawberry roan coat for the adrennes, I had to get it in memory of Marty Robbins, the adrennes reminds me of the shire, time to start a new story
I think if you use the black raven shire, he'll have a chance to keep up with the Ardennes because the black raven 1 have a better stats than the common ones (the dark bay & the light grey)
I have a max bonded Overo American Paint and he doesn't react at all to gunshots. Pistols, shotguns, rifles he doesn't move at all with me on or off him. He's the first horse I've gotten who is this brave. Reading all the comments and from personal experience I really think how stable a horse is depends on the horse not the breed. This paint out performs my foxtrotter and my turkoman in bravery.

You think the stamina core has any effect on stableness? They were both drained during the test. You notice when a horse gets agitated it's core flashes red, suggesting it is based on stamina?
my friend is using a white shire in online mode..with superior saddle and the best stirups. That horse out runs my thoroughbred and standardbreds very easily.

I think their reactions have a lot to do with their energy cores. I find my horses to become more agitated when they are low. I could be wrong but it’s what I have found. I love the Ardennes horses have to be my favorite. They seem to be more level head compared to most breeds and I barley get bucked off. I love doing mounted combat so I find that the Ardennes health stats to be better for what I need it for. I wish the raven black shire had better health stats then my favorite would definitely change. I just love the size of these horses!

Comment if you agree, the shire should have had huge amounts of health.. like the fact that a tiny Arabian has twice as much health as an enormous shire horse is so wrong. It least then it would have some advantage of using it.

I personally think the shire is the best looking horse in the game but sadly it's one of the worst horses in terms of stats. The Ardennes is practically a top tier version of the shire.
I wouldn't say it's one of the worse but it's definitely unimpressive. I see no good reason why the Shires shouldn't have considerably more health at the very least. But they're ballsy in combat and can run down most anything. If they had top tier stats they'd easily be one of the best breeds in the game.
I have played the game multiple times with different horse breeds and what I feel is that bravery is generated random for a horse...in my 1st playthrough, I got that black Arabian from Saint Denis in Chap 2 and it was afraid of its own shadow...in my 2nd playthrough, I got the same black Arabian but for some reason, it was much braver than the previous one( both I tested with level 4 bonding) It would buck me off eventually but the endurance was very high compared to the first one...same goes with Turkoman, the Silver Dapple Pinto Missouri Fox Trotter(hell of a name) and other breeds. With that said, I do agree that it is somewhat generalized too, Generally an Arabian would be less brave than a Turkoman or Andalusian or even a Fox Trotter.

i went on shopping for perfect cougar pelt with my black arabian and ardennes. Arabian, even though there is road available, it still stopped, buck me off and left me on my own. Ardennes stood with me while i hunt the courgar down. I liked arabian for long distance journeys and for hunting ardennes is good.
You have to have done the story mission with Hosea where yubhunt down the legendary bear he will give you a horse for the mission you either stable it or sell it I stabled it
I also have a mustang but i prefer the shire cause the size and it feels more powerfull when you trample people or predators And when i was on my shire a bear ran towards me but my shire kept standing (i was on my horse) while my mustang would have bucked me right off
I love horses, and one of my favorite breeds are the Clydesdales and Shires, and I was really happy when I saw that shires existed in rdr2, but so disappointed that they are such a bad horse... I have finished the story mode and I can only have 4 horses. I have Buell, white Arabian, Missouri Fox Trotter and the tigger stripped mustang, so I can’t really get more horses :( I just wish that u could buy more space on the stables, cUz I find myself wanting other horses, like paint, Kentucky cUz they r cute, Appaloosa, Andalusian...
I have not tried it out but i think that if you bring a horse to camp and hitch the horse there you can remove the saddle and it will stay in the camp. If you have the upgraded hitching post at camp you can then recall a horse from the stable to the camp. It is something i have wanted to try out but never have. I want to try it with horses that im not too attached to in case it doesnt work.
white shire (male) is the most stable vs crocs ATM love the swams and the fact night folk stop spawning for me for like 2 weaks my last encounter now they freaking spawn 15 of them no joke but for horses and pc version shire male white is more stable had 6 of them testing them out 3 females and 3 males and the male is more stable around pred like gators and it seems like its a RNG for every horse same type how calm/braveri they are around pred and gunfire witch is disappointing for accurate testing purposes in rdr2
For your ardennes in the video im pretty sure the stableness was just really low, though most times ardennes are strong and stable. Like mustangs, one time I had a male Mustang that could ride over gators and kick wolves like footballs, then I got another because mustangs are cool and that once couldnt even stomach riding next to a gator let alone a wolf. The stableness for horses is pretty whack
I think the raven black is bigger than the other shire coats for my opinion..bcoz that damn nag is a fucking TANK..by the time i ride the raven black..im feeling different...its like bigger than the light grey and the dark bay..just sayinn:)
I hate when I crash into something then it falls and runs, so o go to it and wot it to say it’s ok then somebody kills the horse and then me. It makes me so mad I can’t stand when my horse died cuz then I have to sit there and ride the scrawny nag 🤢😤
ardennes are crappy for the price you get much better this horse takes off right away and is not reliable the only thing he has is life and stamina but the shire doesn't even throw me away if a bear is next to me on my own wegek the price is the shire 100 times better

The ardennes is more compact and thus bulkier/heavier in comparison. The shire is the tallest. Still heavy. Both are around 1000 kilos.

There’s actually another Ardennes coat. It’s called the iron grey ardennes I believe.
i don't think any horses do well around the gators
Mustangs can hold up for a while, but they'll still drop you eventually
Cougars are worse. Horses would immediately buck you off within a second when they see a cougar coming towards you

The calmness of the horse will vary by model they all have a different personality apparently
When you get time you should do Tennessee walker vs Kentucky saddler or Morgan. I think some of the low stat breeds are underrated.

Yes indeed
For hunting always go for a war type (and have a temporary horse with you), for battles anything with high health and for travel use a work type.

white shire (male) is the most stable vs crocs ATM love the swams and the fact night folk stop spawning for me for like 2 weaks my last encounter now they freaking spawn 15 of them no joke but for horses and pc version shire male white is more stable had 6 of them testing them out 3 females and 3 males and the male is more stable around pred like gators and it seems like its a RNG for every horse same type how calm/braveri they are around pred and gunfire witch is disappointing for accurate testing purposes in rdr2
the ardennes horse is more muscular so its faster+(its my favourite.)

For your ardennes in the video im pretty sure the stableness was just really low, though most times ardennes are strong and stable. Like mustangs, one time I had a male Mustang that could ride over gators and kick wolves like footballs, then I got another because mustangs are cool and that once couldnt even stomach riding next to a gator let alone a wolf. The stableness for horses is pretty whack
I think the raven black is bigger than the other shire coats for my opinion..bcoz that damn nag is a fucking TANK..by the time i ride the raven black..im feeling different...its like bigger than the light grey and the dark bay..just sayinn:)

I hate when I crash into something then it falls and runs, so o go to it and wot it to say it’s ok then somebody kills the horse and then me. It makes me so mad I can’t stand when my horse died cuz then I have to sit there and ride the scrawny nag 🤢😤

ardennes are crappy for the price you get much better this horse takes off right away and is not reliable the only thing he has is life and stamina but the shire doesn't even throw me away if a bear is next to me on my own wegek the price is the shire 100 times better
