    Thanks. Spent a lot of my bass fishing free lining whenever I could with some great results tbh. Since moving down here it's been all walk back and chesil...................will be nice to get the old daiwa bass rod and whisker carp rods out again.......love light line/low lead fishing.....even watching your line start moving away from you.....Exciting!

      Free-lining is a fantastic way to fish when conditions allow. It’s about having fun, in my book! Tight lines Graham🎣🙂

    A great selection of recent videos, which shows your knowledge and angling skill off very well. This bass one was spot on. In a moment of madness I sold my gear except for a bass rod and reel! The cod seasons seem to get worse and worse, so after 2006 i gave it up, but there is plenty more bass about these days. TH-cam is great way to feed the passion - I might just rig up, thinking Mod might work for the same tactics as the river floods?

    • @thegamblingangler
      @thegamblingangler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any of the creeks that fill up on the flooding tide here will produce bass to these tactics. It’s also very probable that you’ll catch codling, with good bags of fish possible under the right conditions. Good luck and enjoy!🙂🎣

    Does that spot produce many thornys? Looks ideal place to get tucked out of the wind . Nice vid makes a change to see some bass fishing in the BC🎣🎣🐟

    Brilliant vid thank you! Would you also use braid on a surf beach, fishing the surf tables? Do you think bait runners are a good idea for the bass too?

    • @thegamblingangler
      @thegamblingangler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Tomos. I would use braid for any short range bait fishing for bass and other larger species of fish🎣

    Great vodeo, would just have liked a little bit more detail, weight, hook size braid & leader breaking strain, but still loved the video

    • @thegamblingangler
      @thegamblingangler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks Martin, it’s often a job to squeeze it all in or it slips my mind at the time! Here goes-
      2-3oz lead, 4/0 circle hook, 20-30lb braid, tapered shockleader🙂🎣

  • @kevinnewbury9911
    @kevinnewbury9911 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jansen, enjoyable watching - delighted to see you returning the bass. Is crab essential as it is not easy to get hold off ? What size weight did you use ? Regards, Kevin

    • @thegamblingangler
      @thegamblingangler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crab certainly works well, but local lugworm is a close second. I should’ve mentioned the weight- I usually use around 2.5oz, but I went up to 4oz on one rod during this particular session. Sometimes just the weight of a crab on the hook is enough though🎣

  • @tallguy3310

    Enjoyed watching thank you , please could you recommend what braid / lb for that type of fishing ?

    • @thegamblingangler
      @thegamblingangler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anything of between 20 and 30lb is perfect, Phil. Daiwa J-Braid is one of my favourites though🙂🎣

      @@thegamblingangler Thanks , x4 or x8 ? , do you use a mono leader ? if so what length/Ib please , im assuming its used as it has abit of stretch and is more abrasion resistant ? thank you .

    • @thegamblingangler
      @thegamblingangler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tallguy3310 The X4 is more robust than the X8, so probably better for this style of fishing. I use a mono tapered shock leader, but cut it back a fair bit so it’s not quite so heavy at the end. The mono makes it easier to rig the end tackle too.

    Top production Jansen, very clear and like the idea of being mobile. Though local knowledge vital as with most tides and exit routes. Your prep of that crab had me thinking about weedless style baiting.
    Do you think they came on because of the dark? Thanks for sharing.

    • @thegamblingangler
      @thegamblingangler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Day or night seems to make very little difference here, Paul. I think it was more a case of the fish feeding at the top of the tide, which on this occasion happened to coincide with darkness. I have free lined crab baits on old school weighted jelly hooks with some success too.

    Hi there - interesting video.................not a very inspiring question............what reels are you using?? Sorry! Graham

    • @thegamblingangler
      @thegamblingangler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Graham. One reel is a Shimano Baitrunner and the other is an older version of this-

    What’s your favorite bait of all time?

    • @thegamblingangler
      @thegamblingangler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tough call, but probably squid. Easy to source, easy to store and catches a ton of fish🎣
