- Could this be Australia's best nano reef tank? Julian has recently hit the three year mark with this impeccable Cade S2 Reef 600 system and it has to be up there with the best Australia has to offer.
From the amazing livestock in the system, through to the jaw dropping infrastructure and filtration - it is a system not to be missed.
Massive thanks to Pet Alliance for making this video possible, be sure to find the details for the giveaway featuring Sera and Hikari foods at the end!
Follow the tank on instagram @reefjules
😊 Thanks again for documenting the tank so professionally Sam, I had a blast chatting to you and going through the journey and all the details!
Really enjoyed the visit myself! Thanks for the invite and for the chance to share this amazing tank with the world
Best nano ever, congrats !!!
Well done, that's art
Amazing tank! Well done!
An incredible work of art. Julian is so meticulous in his approach to not only his hobby but also everything he does. It’s the reason why we chose him to develop our international website.
And what a site it is!! A master at work
So he's a web designer? I may need him!
@@queencityreefs indeed he is! Check out his site here: www.julianalexander.com.au
Great video and awesome tank! As a fellow nano reefer from the U.S. Love the channel!
Awesome! Thank you!
One of your best vids Sam, brilliant, Julian your tank is amazing, watching and listening to you both seemed so in sync, i enjoyed this immensely, Awesome work boys, would love to see an update on this tank in the future and see which way you decided to go Julian, tough decision, i have my thoughts on it, will be interesting to see, thanks for the vid guys🤘
Glad you enjoyed it mate, I was really pleased with both how the video turned out but also how amazing Julian’s tank is. Agreed that it is one of the best vids on the channel!
Another cracking tank! I'm in for the comp. Loved the purple stylo! Indeed a coral we need to bring back! Plenty of great tanks on the Gold Coast for you too @Sam.
All the best on the pride draw! Thanks for watching :)
I have the same tank and wow I love how he made it work with the bigger sump. That’s my main complaint about this tank- the lack of storage for the equipment. I would absolutely pull that bio media out (I removed mine and noticed no positive or negative effects at all). A little waterproof Tunze Eco Chic light down in there could support some frags perfectly and minimize light spill to the rest of the sump! Just an idea ✌🏻
Lovely idea! Thanks for watching
Absolutely Beautiful and impressive and very well built and beyond inspiring
It sure is, such an epic build!
Gorgeous tank, and absolutely a huge hats off to Julian. Definitely something we all need to aspire to.
My favourite would have to be that smooth skin purple acro, but the millis are also stand out to me. I'd love to be considered for the competition. I am in Australia.
Fantastic stuff! All the best in the draw
Top of the mountain indeed! What a stellar set up, thoroughly knowledgable and dedicated aquariaist and masterfull grow! +1! Yeah, if it were me, I'd start another cube and try to get something quite different going, another masterpiece, though I am not speaking from experience, I actually don't have and have never had a reef tank, not possible really in rural Thailand, I have run some freshwater aquariums with some unusual small fish like lampeyes, various East African Nothobranchius killifish species like eggersi, rachovii, palmquisti), Badis species, tiny Jewel gouramis and small sunset gouramis and many others, if they are small and richly or interestingly colored I've probably hosted them. Big up to Julian!
yeah that is a pretty cool idea, nice one
Entering the comp. I know it's old school, but I love the Bonsai acro because of the way the fluro polyps pop. Also bought a 200 lph pump to blast the rock work a couple of months ago. Wish I'd done it sooner!
I need to give this rock work pump method a go I think! Good luck in the draw!
Not at all a shame to start over. It's the process and the journey that is the most enjoyable for many of us. Not the end result. Amazing tank.
Fantastic way to look at it and you are 100% right.
Great tank. Watched through almost all of the video but couldn't see what the bloke was doing for nutrient reduction other than filter roller and skimmer. Does he carbon dose and any idea on nutrient levels?
thanks for watching! Yeah just skimmer and filter roller (plus water changes obviously). I think the coral density in the tank would be sucking up nutrients at a huge rate too
Great video !! All your videos are good detailed and video is great. Thanks for the time you put into these videos.
Appreciate that, glad you’re enjoying them!
What a joy to watch and hear you guys chat - you should both do a reef podcast together, you both bounce off each other well!
Glad you enjoyed it!
How much does it cost to run and maintain a tank like this?
That’s not a straight forward answer. But it wouldn’t use a heap of electricity being such a small system
Got to be the strawberry shortcakes 🐠🤘
It sure is nice stuff!!
Blues clues looks so flacid.
Great video 😅
Haha thanks mate
@NRKA Blues clues? 😅🤔
Entering the comp from Melbourne. That blue and green smooth skin really sparks up the sps bug,
All the best in the draw, thanks for watching!
😍😍😍
It’s a nice tank!!
Great tank but how on earth could you call that a Nano tank?
I guess it depends on your definition of a nano, for me it is 2 feet or less
Not a nano...
So some of have said, yet everyone’s answer for what a nano is varies greatly…
What a masterpiece 👏😍💯🔥
Bloody nice tank isn’t it?!
Entering the competition and from Australia. My favourite was the Birds of Paradise birds nest - need to get a hold of it now!
Good luck!!!
Entering the competition, from Australia. Fave coral is the pink milli
Have just started my own 150L cube and been cycling for a few months deciding where I’d like to go with it. Was thinking I’ll go sps dominant, and this has sealed the deal 🎉
Sensational!! All the best in the draw
@parkersreef hey can he not use a browser like chrome for his Apex interface? I think he said the app requires newer, but what about browser mode? He really had fun building that under the cabinet.
It’s certainly a possibility, but I’m no apex user so couldn’t say for sure
Thanks for the idea! I did try using the safari browser to load fusion with no luck, I will download chrome and give it a try though!
Entering competition from oz
Definitely that red acro 😮😮 I’m gonna need a frag of that !! 😊
Haha I know right, it’s gorgeous! All the best in the draw
Entering the competition, from Australia 😊
The birds nest at the front of the tank I just love. A 'beginner' sps I know, but the growth pattern is just awesome (and the colour is pretty great too)
nothing wrong with a "beginner" sps, it's a cracking piece! Good luck in the contest!
Amazing tank
Surely he's just going to rip out the fast growing ones (that are not his faves) - not entering ;)
gotta tell us your favourite coral if you're entering!
lol I'm not - not for this one - thx Sam!@@ParkersReef
haha no worries mate!
So good!
Spectacular tank!!
as behind as this comment is, i think its time for him to move house and get some bigger tanks :) great work on this one mate
Haha yes, would be good to see what Julian could do!!
Im in for the comp. Not sure what its called but at 53.15 you show it. 👌
Haha no worries, all the best in the draw!
Not sure how you got me for a whole hour but you did that tank looked awesome.
Hahah glad you enjoyed it
Stunning tank but a 2-foot tank is not a nano. Nano is generally less than 50cm
Fair enough, thanks for the opinion 😬
Hello, entering competition, from Australia, absolutely love the red table acro amazing color. another great video, particularly enjoy your videos at deer park and williamstown as they are my go to places been on my side of victoria.
Glad you’re enjoying them!! Good luck in the draw
Entering the Competition. From Sydney!!! Bird of Paradise and the Poci.
What an Amazing Vid Sam! Great in depth show case of Julians Tank.
Julian...... WOW well thought out. keep it up buddy!
Thanks mate! Best of luck in the draw!
Proper nano that is .. I just got a 350L cube and I’m upstairs on wooden floors, got me nervous about filling it up now
Hahaha yeah it adds up to a lot of weight!
@@ParkersReef it’s 70cm cube so 280l ish plus sump and stand, so I’m guessing around 350kg (is what I meant in first post) bit of an upgrade from the 90L in my picture
If his name is harry, you might be on to something…
Entering comp from Australia (if it’s not to late 😂). It’s definitely hard to pick your favourite coral in there, call me crazy but the pink Goni that was retracted had my eye for most of the video and would put that pink ball in my tank even if it never extended back out 😂
Hahaha nothing wrong with that! Good luck in the draw!
Thanks for the videos, I’m only new to reefing ( about 4 months in ) and have taken a lot of valuable information from them
My pleasure, thank you for watching!
I never understood the concept of a Nano tank. If you live in a nice warm stable weather country then fine, but if you live in the UK (like i do) the weather can be -4 or lower or up in the 30's, and water temperature would be unstable the smaller the tank is. I have always been led to believe, the larger the Aquarium, the more balanced the water temperature etc will be. The concept of Nano + Marine tank = odd.
thankfully our living spaces usually do not reflect the vast temperature scales that are witnessed outside and even less so within the aquarium itself.
Cracking tank. One could only dream to see that every day
It’s amazing that’s for sure
I know you guys touched on the Tropic Marin salt he uses, but do we know if he makes his own water? If so, what RODI system does he use?
Yeah solid question, will have to see if Jules replies as I am not aware sorry mate 👍🏻
The best interview and tank walk through I've seen on TH-cam!! Thank you for creating and sharing such a great and informative video! Cheers from Florida❤
Our pleasure! I was really pleased with how this video came together!
Masterpiece nanoreef ❤.
Agreed!!
Absolutely epic!!!!
Agreed!!
What a great set up! well thought out, planned and executed in limited space. Love the purple Stylo, don't see much it around, and entering the competition Thanks Sam.
Yes I agree completely!! Many thanks, all the best in the draw
amazingly stunning tank but no way this is a nano. Just a small tank!
Fair enough!! Nano in my eyes, but the key is, it is stunning
Brilliant tank to watch a walk thru on! Definitely inspiring, as just starting out on my own reefing journey. Love the red cap monti it just scream ‘reef’ to me… also love that deep blue in the blue acros!
Love visiting Reef Galleria too, one of my fav stores to check out in city. Good to know some frags end up there!
Fellow reefer based in Melbourne too, would like to put my hand up to enter the competition too.
Thanks again for sharing this awesome tank with TH-cam!
Awesome, thank you for watching and good luck with the prize draw!!
That’s absolutely incredible.
It’s pretty nuts hey?!
@@ParkersReef absolutely. Definitely deserves Australia’s best nano title.
I recently found your channel and have been watching a few vids. I love how thorough and detailed each of the videos are you can really tell these tanks are these people’s passion and their babies. The knowledge in each video is outstanding and thank you for not just going to tank asking the same 10-20 questions and then be done that video style is so played out and boring. Keep it up and thank you for the hours of content!
Thanks for the feedback, glad you’re enjoying the content! I’ve got no shortage of backlog for you to enjoy :)
Entering competition, I am from Australia. Love the Green Monti Cap. Enjoyed the video, beautiful tank!
Good luck! Thanks for watching
Stunning reef tank! Best nano I have seen by far. I have always been a sucker for bird of paradise bird nest so that’s my fav for sure. Chance to win some goodies - yes please!
Woo hoo! All the best in the draw!!
Not sure if I’m allowed, but my entry to the comp would be my favourite coral - the blue/green smoothskin acro!
Hahaha you can enter 😅
Great video! Was captivated start to finish. Thanks for sharing Sam and Julian!
Love the growth of the monti cap.
In Australia and entering the comp :)
Glad you enjoyed it! All the best in the draw!
In for comp Aus resident another amazing tank and video loved the bright blue smooth stag welll done Sam and Julian .
Thanks for watching mark, all the best in the draw!
Simply amazing well done!
It’s a pretty special tank that is for sure
Hats off to Julian! Beautiful tank amazing set up. Great video Sam thanks mate!
Glad you enjoyed it
that's definitely in the top 1% of sps tanks out there
Yeah it’s pretty amazing what Julian has been able to achieve!
Dream nano if you willing to stay at that size. My first tank was a cade pr400, it lasted only 4 months before I upgraded :). My favorite coral was the scroling monti. Thanks for the video
The upgrade is a real threat 😅
This is a gorgeous tank, it’s hard to describe with any other adjective
@@ParkersReef videos or phothos are not making justice to many of the tanks out there, including mine :). Seeing in real i m sure is spectacular
@@viatameainaustralia7752 for sure

Imperial
@@ParkersReef Thanks mate. Great video. Liked and subscribed!
@tylerzimmer2212 appreciated!!
Meticulously setup.heavy duty lighting too😂 im torn between a cade or a nyos for my next tank
Nyos make tanks???
@@ParkersReef NYOS opus.they got some flak initially for stands but it's been reworked & looks great!
@@aquariumaddickuk ah yes I have heard of those now you mention it. Yeah nice, will suss it out!
The tank is like 45 gallons, how is that a nano tank?
What’s your definition of a nano? To me, it’s less than a 2ft cube :)
@ParkersReef for me, it is anything 20gal or less. I could be wrong.
@ezra3735 yeah fair enough! I don’t think there is an official size the determine. I see some tank brands claiming nano for things well over 30 gallon of display tank size :)
Nice job. Great colors.
Agreed. Not easy to make SPS grow like that whilst also being that colourful in a tank this size
I'm curious whether he runs blue full time or does he have daylight turn on
With the radion it is a curved spectrum, so it has a ramp of each channel throughout the day
Blues morning and night and whites during the peak of the day (because it’s a radion “blue” the whites aren’t as white as other lights out there)
Very nice setup, well done
Glad you like it!
Entering the comp bro
@@eliasdagher481 ok no problem - which coral did you like the most?
That would be the blue/green smooth skin
Amazing tank! I love my reefbrite XHO’s!
They look great!
Wow, that is an amazing system! Look at those colors and the SPS on that baby! Great job!
it's an incredible system hey?!
Lovely setup and a nice guy. Perfect combination.
Absolutely!!
I am shutting down my tank after seeing this!!!
Hahaha the idea is to inspire!!!
In Oz where its pretty hot, do you find your reef tanks heat up your houses, working against the Air Con?
The tanks definitely contribute to the warmth in the house, but we make sure our air con’s are sized appropriately :)
@@ParkersReef Interesting! I'm here in the UK (but lived in Oz for ages) and they are quite welcome in the winter but in the summer they do heat up the house (and we don't have aircon!)
yeah we definitely need AC here!!
47 gallons is considered a Nano tank?
I think if you look through the comments, you’ll find lots of similar questions.
I personally consider any tank that is 2 foot cube or less a nano.
You can have your own measurement if you like, I don’t believe there is anything official 😅
@ParkersReef I Googled it. 5-30 gal is what I found. It's really not a big deal it just caught me by surprise. Reed looks freaking awesome. It's inspiring me to get back into the hobby but my wife will kill me.
Awesome tank!
Just wondering where you sourced the Octo Waste container in Aus or if there are any alternatives for a skimmer waste container available in Aus.
I'll see if Julian replies, but from a quick google search I did find a couple of retailers in aus that list it
From memory I had reef galleria order it in for me from the aus distributor!
