    I love that you made this in a “tiny” batch. When I make things, especially for the first time, I really just want one or two! So, thank you for that 👍🏼

    I'm going to try this recipe. If you cut the end off a pipette it fits over the syringe nozzle - lengthening the nozzle and you can get right to the bottom of the container to fill the lip gloss.

    Hi Marie , Happy Birthday to you. Can you tell me if the glitter and mica is the same as I would use in soap, please. I do make soap so I have that on hand, I would love to try some . By the way , I love your book Make it up, only just received it , can't wait to try some of the goodies. 💕

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Sue! Yes, stuff used for soap is typically cosmetic grade or food grade, which is also what we use for cosmetics :) Thank you so much for buying my book and happy making!

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only thing to add to that would be to make sure any specific pigments or micas are safe for lips/eyes/wherever you're putting them; some are and some aren't :) Doesn't mean they aren't cosmetic grade, just means they aren't good for use on that particular part of your face.

    Hello! I love your videos, and was wondering if you knew if whole cochineal can be ground and used for lip colorants?

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No; "To prepare carmine, the powdered scale insect bodies are boiled in an ammonia or sodium carbonate solution, the insoluble matter is removed by filtering, and alum is added to the clear salt solution of carminic acid to precipitate the red aluminium salt, called "carmine lake" or "crimson lake" (the lake here deriving from the word lac, referring to a resinous secretion)." (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carmine). So... not unless you have the chemistry know-how to do all that!

    Hi there! Thanks for the fabulous video! ♡
    I have a question for u, so the lip gloss without the color, how does it look on? Is it fairly clear or does it have a cloudy white-ish look to it?
    I am going to attempt to dupe my fave lip gloss that is actually clear with super fine irridessent glitter & the recipes I see online are pretty basic for the base.. the one I'm duping has vitamin E oil & other lovely things so its nourishing for your lips & it isnt sticky either. So it's a lot like your recipe. I just want to make sure this gloss shows up as clear with the glitter and not "white-ish", if that makes sense?
    Thanks love!
    I'm also going to buy your book, cant wait to read it!
    Blessings ♡

    It just seems that you need a thinner syringe. The reason you have to shake it so much is because you can't fill the bottom and move upwards because of its thickness

    I just recently find your video and it so good. I’m a new business owner and there are so much way to make lipgloss and lot of people always use versagel but in your video I notice you leave out that ingredients, so what I’m asking is if I use Cera bellina was or yellow beeswax and mix it with my oil can I add it to my lipgloss base- versagel. Cause I get the concept of the beeswax to thicken the lipgloss if I’m not mistaken. I made some few glosses myself and I just add versagel and mix it with color of my choice and add the mica, but the texture of the color wasn’t showing much once apply onto lips even though it was pigmented. If I’m making lipgloss and mix the oil with the beeswax and let it melt all together can I add it to my versagel or will that be too thick. Sorry for the long message just want to get clarify .

    U neva apply the stuff u make after making it so we don't get an idea how it looks or how long it stays or is it smudge or water proof etc

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For something like lip gloss I can guarantee it's never going to be waterproof or smudge-proof-lip gloss is a pretty soft end product and soft products are never smudge-proof, at least not with the ingredients we can get at home.
      For products where wear and application are more important I usually do, or instead of a video tutorial I'll have a tutorial showing the product in action. Also, make sure you are clicking through to the blog!

    I read your blog post about carrier oils, and I was wondering if, for as this recipe, we could substitute safflower oil with canola oil?

  • @VENUSEH
    @VENUSEH 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Marie! I was wondering if I use Cerabelina, Castor Oil, Coconut OIl and Vitamin E and skip the Safflower Oil and Benzoin, Would that work? Or can I use Vegetable Glycerine to replace Safflower or Benzoin? I can't wait to use my just arrived Cerabelina from Safire Blue!!! I wasn in Canada and ordered a buch of stuff!! I am soooo excited!! Let me know

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't skip the liquid oil-it is over 40% of the recipe! You can't just eliminate 40% of a recipe, haha, that's like dropping the flour from a cake recipe :P You can skip the benzoin, though. You cannot use vegetable glycerin instead of either as it is a completely different thing and it's water soluble (sort of like using water instead of butter in a cake recipe). Please click through to the blog to read the big list on substitutions in this recipe :)

    • @VENUSEH

    Hi marie hope your move went well.anyway I'm just wondering the recipe below the vid are different measurements than what u say in the video.for instance u say 3.3 grams cera bellina
    and below u have 15g|0.53oz 4.4g castor oil which is diff below.is it because u made a smaller batch on the video? sorry maybe a stupid question lol i really wnt to make this :) thx in advance for answering.

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      From the post: "I made a much smaller batch of this-100g is a TON of lip gloss, but smaller batches gave very odd numbers, requiring a scale that measures down to at least 0.1g, if not 0.01g. I made a 20g batch. You can easily re-calculate this recipe by turning the “g” in “%” and then scale up or down as required! My 20g batch used 1/4 tsp glitter, 1/32 tsp silver, and 2 drops carmine dye (though the carmine was just for half that, so more like a 10g batch-watch the video to see what I mean!)." :) This is also mentioned in the video, right around 1:40.

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm with M on this; it's pretty gross and messy to do the bag route, and you lose a ton of product + have to throw out the bag. I'd use a small funnel if you don't have a syringe.

    Hello!
    So, this might actually be a weird and whacky question... so if you say “no”, it’s fair enough. Haha!
    But can I technically repurpose this pretty much INTO an ointment of some sort?
    The consistency is what a friend of mine loves compared to lotion, so say I put EO of Lavender or something and use it on the arm... could that work? Or am I just “wishful thinking”?
    (This is before adding anything after its cool down - but with the added Vit E, since it’s nice to have.)
    Also. Just a note. I do need a lip gloss. So whether I can repurpose or not, doesn’t really phase me, ☝🏻this is happening! 🙌🏻

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You definitely can re-purpose this as desired! I would personally find this to be more oily/tacky than I'd like in something for general skin application, but if you like it, go for it. I'd also recommend searching "ointment" on my blog for other ideas :)

      I'm not sure if you're talking about the different variations of this particular lip gloss in this particular video, or multiple videos.
