Castiel was just John Constantine's goody two shoes copy, and Crowley, aka Mark Shepherd, was the perfect Kipling which was just a creation because Grant Morrison couldn't put Constantine in Doom Patrol due to continuity concerns by DC and Vertigo by extension, so an alternative character was made to provide the same kind of character which ironically the creator of supernatural also made doom patrol and included Mark Sheperd as the best on screen Kipling we will probably ever get, in great quality I might add, so bacically everything always goes back to good ole John Constantine.

The producer and writers were jackasses to him behind the scenes wanting to write him out of the show for about 2 years. He was one of the most smartest, wittiest, classy and charming villains and antagonist on the show and they took him for granted, makes me so mad, Crowley/Mark deserved better.

The difference between Lucifer and Crowley’s characters was incredibly fascinating. Lucifer, behaved exactly the biblical description of him did; that being that he is entirely motivated by pride, considering himself above god, which is what got him cast out of heaven in the bible. In every scene he acts like every angel, bluntly and directly, the only difference being that he serves himself. Crowley, however, acts more like the american folktale version of the devil, a manipulative cheat. One must outsmart or outperform him to beat him, like in ‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia’. He can be bargained with, another major tie to american folk tales that the biblical Lucifer does not share. It’s a shame we didn’t get to see more interaction between these two.

After Ruby, he was a breath of fresh air. Rather than trying to make them believe they should trust him because he was "gud" (DW fans, where you at?) He was completely honest that they shouldn't trust him, even if they are frenemies. It made his friendship with them so much more realistic
I was just watching Mark in a podcast. He's pretty awesome and I wish he could have stayed with the show all the way to the end. The Crowley's version of Hell where you just wait in line cracks me up. It would actually be very horrible.
