I remember 1976 when I first entered the Naval Academy. It was a very difficult and painful time, but it made me who I am today.

Thanks for your brothers military service. My son also is serving the Navy flying the F18 Superhornet. We’re proud of them. I’m originally from Philippines.

Awesome, That's what my daughter wants to fly too. But we know it's always "the needs of the Navy" first. She actually wanted Naval Intelligence Community, but we found out that graduates of the Academy are commissioned as Unrestricted line officers ( SWO, Pilots or Marine officers) unless NPQ or not physically qualified.
Did your son get the F-18 right away out of flight school? Or did he do a lateral transfer from another aircraft platform?
I joined thru Subic bay in the 90s. I can't believe 30+ years went by pretty quick.

@@JASCdmolay yes he got selected on the F18 right after he got the pilots wings from Kingsville Texas in Sept 2019. He’s training on the F18 was in Oceana NAS, Virginia. He is now assigned forward deployed in MCAS Iwakuni, Japan with the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan flying the single seat F18E.

There were 6 of them in his group in primary training in Pensancola. And he’s the only one got selected for the jet training. It’s tough to get the jets unless your number one in class. Advise your daughter to try her best if she’s definitely wants the jet. Compitition is very high.

@@xris5697 She's fine with Helos too. Or whatever the Navy gives her. I believe they can do lateral transfer after their initial sea duty. Thanks

It's tough to get in. But if they offer you NAPS- Naval Academy Prep in Rhode Island take it. If you successfully finish the 10 month training you have a guaranteed spot in the academy the following year. My daughter is graduating this May and will be joining the brigade for the class of 2026. Good luck!

@@skittle9946 Did you also consider USAFA or the Coast Guard Academy? I assume you already have your congressional appointment. Most, if not all who went to Naps succeed in the Academy. They are already prepared mentally, physically and academically. They basically just repeating it. Never give up! Hope you make it this year. GL

Another wonderful video. Maybe the usna is something that you might be interested in. Your parents have done a great job with you also and it’s definitely within your grasp. As you probably know many of our greatest leaders were academy graduates. My favorites are president jimmy carter and admiral James Bond Stockdale Medal of Honor recipient. They became good friends and great leaders at the usna. Continue your studies and you’ll do great things also. Best wishes to you and your family.
