Wow that's cool to hear and she that somebody like that can have a hot rod and be able to control it I think you doing a good job there Mr Sean and I love this idea I know a guy that I can help get his car up have a great day man
I just thought it would be a good video for vets, accident victims (like myself) or others that may have thought the hobby of cars was not something they could do.
Hey superman doesn't always wear cape and fly through the air! This guy in that wheelchair has to put his pants on take a shower brush his teeth and everything's going to be just that much harder when you paralyzed. Maybe it's because my grandmother was in a wheelchair or my dad ended up in it but I will tell you the time I spent in one and using canes reinforced it. I need help these guys and gals out. Some men with a about a 2018 mustang nice looking car he got out constructed his wheelchair like none I've ever seen hopped out on it he had no use of his legs. We're at the auto parts store. Another guy come over and start chatting with him about his car. Now how good you think that guy felt each time somebody I talk to them about his cars and not his legs.?! Somebody wants to put forth the effort I think it's fantastic. Great episode and public service announcement
@@thomasshields4369 Thank you for responding. When I had what I call a bad day at work. My kids were really small. My oldest could remember me a Superman. My youngest always did draw me with a cane. You know when he doodled. Well even long before I had kids I always was a friend of mine that my kids may never love me but they were damn well going to respect me. That isn't harsh. It's hard to have love without respect. See my kids develop both. Anyway I remember one day looking at a fella. Thought man he looks a little messed up. His kids was helping him get into his van. You can draw the picture. Honest kids simply said love you dad. My oldest boy tapped me on my shoulder and said Dad time to go. And start pushing that wheelchair and he goes love you Dad. I realize the other guy and me had a lot in common. Anyway we'll cut through a bunch of stuff. You know incline leg press 1100 lb three sets of 10 repetitions. And some other stuff. I have a pretty good size guy. You know that oldest boy never did think of me as anything less. The youngest boy said I sure wish I could remember you that way. Well the guy in the van and me with the same places and I watched him. I told my kids that I saw that man move something they said that he couldn't move. I said he's Superman. He never stopped trying and on top of that he never stopped working towards his goal. The doctors showed me on my MRI and some other stuff this is why you can't ever walk again. Had me thinking they were right. Even pretty recently especially from across the country called me and asked me how do I do it. I used to tell them I laid off with my right foot and follow with my left. Sometime I switch it up. When they took notes and they were wanting help others I realized I need it to be a little more serious. Honestly my back was so messed up I just judged it by the pain of how hard my foot was hitting the ground. Less pain in my back and I was getting it right. Now the man in the van I lost track of him but to my knowledge he never did walk. But he made some impressive gains. Skip ahead many years to just a week ago. My youngest son and me were at the auto parts store. I got one of them rental tools and use it to parking lot so I could return it right away. we had brought that part of the project with us in the back of the pickup. I looked over at this very late model mustang. This man open the door and start setting things out and it flopped open and etc into the if I can use the word impressive wheelchair I've ever seen. Right level with the seat only a few inches off the ground. The man was in his mid 30s I'm guesstimating 28 at the very least. My son said look at there's A Superman. Well that brought back a lot of memories. I don't claim to be Superman. But my kids understood and I wish others would too that Superman doesn't always have a cape anal is a man. Man or woman given circumstances keeps plugging way at it chipping away at it get to where they can get. Then I thought about my Superman. Yeah the man in the van and a few others over the years. I used to run with Olympians kind of like a sparring partner with boxers. My all-time best was 4 minutes and 13 seconds for the mile. And I was a big guy everybody was just amazed. I never really thought of myself as a big guy. I just realized maybe that's why my youngest who's bigger than I ever was and doesn't think of himself as a big guy. You know they kind of big guy pushes his way through a crowd. Instead of saying excuse me. And waiting. Anyway I thought about my eldest boy he turned out to be my biggest Superman in my life. Yeah I can walk I have difficulties. I'm not likely I'll run again. I am I still says I can't walk. I'm at that little wide eyed boy that well let's just say there's not always a happy ending to every story. See two men and sharp press uniforms everything's perfect and a nondescript government car one evening pulled up behind us and part at the curb and walk down our driveway. That's oh no not my son. So he tried to save somebody else. Probably more than one looks like it but I'll never know and that's been a few years now but it was just last night as well. So that little boy that grew up quite a bit. Never will have a chance to have his own little Superman and raise him. He will always be my biggest Superman. I share all this because I want you to know anybody else who reads it I meant it. And you short description of buying a number of sets of hand operated conversions handles for your vehicles. Forgive me I don't know what they are called. You'd had one car then you have this one. When our host on the channel asked you if you had somebody else install them and then quickly followed up with or did you install them yourself? At least he did not ask you how you did it yourself. Because you installed it how everybody else would you worked at it. You may have had a little more difficulty getting the job done. But in some ways since you had already installed it on at least one other vehicle then this one might have been easier for you than a walking person doing it for the first time for their relative. Don't get me wrong I think the host of this channel is a real good guy. He's like the rest of us just getting out there trying to get something done and he doesn't pretend to know everything. So you can see why I said and that I meant it that Superman doesn't always wear cape. And I think whether anyone else does or doesn't think that applies to me. I'm not claiming that title for myself. Superman or Superwoman, I often wonder how many of those who run across and never know it and everyday life? On a lighter note because life isn't about all of our setbacks and challenges. There is a man that has maybe 20 first generation Camaros. If there's something that you're looking for on that very nice car, then he probably would have it. I can put you in touch with him through a third party. If something you need to want for your car. But I will tie all together with a hand written sign I saw a couple of years ago at one of those everything used to be a dollar store. Give that person a break. We never know what kind of day that person's having. It was just attached to display as you walk up to the cash register. And I'll add to that sign. We don't know how many days it took to get that away either. Thanks for replying. And to anybody who reads all of this and especially takes it to heart to one extent or the other. And you see a person. And you treat that person in a positive way irregardless of whatever might be present or not. Then you too may I found a Superman that doesn't wear cape. Okay I didn't mean to go on and on like this it just seems to happen.
First. Mine are DOT approved TNT Controls Takes no tools. About $300 I have a set of those that you are installing in my 93 Fox Mustang Coupe. Mine are mounted with the lever on the right side of the column so I can shift the 4R70W transmission manually. I thumb down and upshift with my pinky. For burnouts I attach my full throttle actuator (and old, shortened aluminum cane) for burnouts. I recommend putting a towel over the rocker as to not scratch it up. There exists a system that is for clutch driven cars and it's around $12k I'm a 34 year paraplegic myself.
Thanks Calvin for all the info and comments, maybe there is a vet or other disabled person who watches the channel and wasnt thinking it was something they could do! You are an inspiration, Brother!
That's awesome! I'm an amputee. My prosthesis won't fit under the dash. Driving is freedom!!!
Glad you enjoyed it, wish you could fit it under, but hope you are able to drive Colleen!

Like I said Sean thank you for showing us that that a person that's got a disability can also enjoy cars and car shows
You know that man simply responded back to me the owner of the car. Saying thanks that was me. He's just another car guy in that respect.
Interesting stuff, Thanks Sean !!
Glad you enjoyed it
