I’ve been an avid X1 fan since they came out. Unfortunately they discontinued the 4K display which is a must for me. Their reasoning is that the believe most road warriors have an external monitor to connect to wherever they go, but I believe the opposite is true. I rarely have a monitor in hotel rooms, etc. so, I like the high def display. Lenovo, please bring it back.

Only two USB-C ports in 2024?? And with one used for charging, that essentially leaves us with just one available port. That’s hardly sufficient. I wish Lenovo offered a ThinkPad configuration with at least 3 USB-C ports. USB-A ports have become nearly obsolete, though I wouldn't mind having just one. And also a better compatibility with Linux systems.

I got the oled screen version before they replaced it by the WUXGA screen in the US. I thought it was a steal since I found a coupon for 1TB and 32gb ram version for just around 1600USD. However, I find the noise from the fan is very loud. I have been using it for three days, even only browsing on internet watching some videos, the fan goes loud! The main reason I am getting this G12 x1carbon is because my old laptop (Latitude 7400 from 2020) is getting slow and noisy when I ran analysis in R. I chose x1carbon Gen12 because I had the Gen2 of it since 2014 and it lasted until 2020, it was the best laptop I ever owned. Now this Gen 12 is louder than the Latitude 7400...TBH I am disapointed. I live in Canada and bought the past two in the States to save money, this one at Costco. But this Gen 12 is going to cost a fortune, especially with C$. Costco isn't carrying the X1 now.
