This is really pertinent to me. I was severely traumatized as a child, and further traumatized as an adult when I tried to get help and make people aware of what happened to me. It’s resulted in a total severing of my awareness of my body. My body is hollow and non-existent. I’ve done so many things to try and help, but often I have days where I want to give up because the experience is so painful and I haven’t had a moment of mercy. It really makes my awareness of self and god difficult.😢

There are many angles of the self and ways to speak of the heart.
It helps to alter between them.
It is important to distinguish understanding from memorizing the conclusions of others and modern from secular.

    Assalamualeykum
This lecture reminded me of another I watched recently by Hakim Archuletta - a traditional healer - he talks about society at large being traumatised by our modern lifestyles. Among other reasons for the trauma is that overall we've become very cerebral, and not experiential - we imagine the world as made of atoms / chemical equations / etc - not experiential at all. We imagine math / science / etc. We learn at an early age to process 2D images and imagine them to be real... learning to live in the abstract, and lose sight of the difference between reality and fiction... An effect is that we become disconnected even from our bodies: We stop feeling - we lose sensation / awareness of our bodies, living just in our heads... A fly may sit on our skin and we may not notice. Or we may eat more than our hunger but not be aware of it.
I never thought of archery / horse riding / swimming etc as ways of counteracting this disconnection from the body - I can imagine those being quite beneficial.
    Jazakallah khair
