why do you use a plastic model as a template for the original? Normally it would be the other way around. Why don't you get the original service instructions for the 2.8cm anti-tank rifle online from the Federal Archives in Germany?🤔
As a German working for the IFZ (Institute for Contemporary German History) here in Munich, Bavaria, Germany i love your Channel a lot! My Grandfather who is a WW2 Veteran is now 104 Years old and i showed him your Videos and he said and i quote: "Why are there Australians taking such good Care of our History?" He's flabbergasted by it but absolutely loves it! He was conscripted into the Wehrmacht after his DAF Service just before 1st September of 1939 and still jokes that he had to go to War on his Birthday (which is the 1st September). Then later in the War when the Waffen-SS ran out of Men they conscripted him and he fough with the 1st Waffen-SS Division "LAH" in the Battle of the Bulge and then just before the End of War in Hungary. Luckily he managed to get to Bavaria after the Defeat in Hungary, so he got into an American POW Camp instead of a Soviet Union one. After the War he was hired by the US to give Speeches for US Army Rangers regarding Anti-Soviet Partisan Warfare Experiences and Strategies and i grew up having US Soldiers stationed in Bavaria, Germany coming over each Summer together with my Grandfathers Comrades doing a BBQ! They got along very well despite having been former Enemies. Either way, just wanted to share that and my 104 Year old Grandfather and myself are very happy to watch your Videos keeping and restoring these Vehicles from our past alive! Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
@@chartreux1532 If you are interested in non-propagandised history on Germany around WW2, may I suggest the You Tube channel ‘Zoomer Historian’. His work is amazing.
Think there are many of us who have uttered some not very kind words when it comes to assembling 1/35 AFVs, but to take that little piece of a model and make a 1:1 replica without any of the colourful Aussie language, just amazing.
Curious what the model company used to create the kit. Spent a huge part of my life building plastic model kits, mostly armor, back in the 70’s in my parents basement. Great hobby.😬
Amazing work Daryl, that man is an absolute master of his craft. The level of work being put into this armoured car is just fantastic, from a box of scrap metal pieces to this, is incredible!
A compilation video of Kurt saying "Workshop Wednesday" would be a nice christmas present for us viewers. Yes I know I am weird, I watch blokes building tanks after a full day of working on cars.
Thanks for the explanation of how much "footage" you need just to make a 13 minute video for us lot!!! Knowing about the extreme ratio of footage shot : final video massively increases our appreciation of how much work everyone puts in just so we can have our weekly "fix". Thank you !!
Daryl is the best modeler/fabricator I have ever seen! I only make this stuff in plastic in 1/35 or maybe 1/16th...he makes it all in real steel at 1/1 and it is amazing! And so fun to watch him work!
Wow! lost for words that's some amazing metal work right there. I've built the Bronco 1:35 SdKfz 221 with Panzerbusch and to see this being recreated in 1:1 is amazing. Keep up the great work guys!
I've been welding and fabricating at various times in my life, spent the last few years totally rebuilding a Bruce Roberts Offshore 38. Hat's off to Daryl. Outstanding work, especially since he used a 1/35 scale model as a pattern. It's going to be a work of art when it's done. Also have to compliment you all on the wonderful work you do, keeping those bits of history alive.
@3:04 Daz is welding around the breech block and he makes a few welds then spins it around and welds somewhere else to spread the heat out evenly. Excellent technique! These guys are so good at what they do!
Top shelf ... absolutely. It's awesome when you have original parts, but you know, it's awesome when you make parts that look original as well. Keep up the good work!
Phenomenal job Daryl. Your work on the gun, and fenders has been nothing short of art work. The work you boys have done on that machine is incredible. I hope some day it will be driving around your lot. Thanks Kurt for the video, and of course I am going to say "See you on fix it Friday with Steve, or on maintenance Monday."
Daryl, you are the master! Super work transforming a 1/35 barrel and mount to a 1:1 scale masterpiece. Kurt, thanks for the great closeup photography. Feels like you are right there working with Daryl. You can tell he's chuffed by the results.
If I ever get the chance to fly down and visit your fantastic museum, I would love to meet everyone in the restoration shop! I think I would enjoy that as much or more than seeing the tanks! You have a great group of folks working there. Daryl is my favorite! But high respect to everyone for sure!
Another great one Kurt! Dazza your fab and welding techniques are right up there with the best, I went to shield my eyes a couple to times to prevent flash 👍👍👍
With these updates we all love to watch, I'd like to suggest a bit of a walk around (video) the featured project so as we can see the progress before the featured segment comences. For example this project has advanced quite considerably since it was last featured. I simple walk around showing how it has progressed would keep us updated and add tremendously to the feature. It's just an idea Kurt. Love your work, Regards Bill
Amazing engineering skills at making a mockup gun, pure ingenuity, I love it all. I think if I contribute some money to your cause, you should use it to buy a magnifying glass in order to look at those damn small plastic kit parts! I hope you guys pick out a very unique paint scheme and markings to apply to the vehicle that makes it stand out even more so. I have no recommendations on what paint scheme to choose from because an early model 221 armored car equipped like this was so rare, someone with better reference access to TO&E and OOB information would have to help you out on that. The SdKfz 222 version armed with the Panzerbuchse 41 was the more common one, so you've got a rarity within a rarity version that you're working on now. 👍👍💯❤
Incredible, Spectacular, Insane!!! I lack words to describe a work like this...even more so for me who does not speak fluent English...thank you automatic translator that allows me to speak with you!! Congratulations from Brazil!!!
Are there any plans to build the 1/35 scale model and display it side by side the real one to highlight the struggle to rebuild the “Original” and tell the story of the incredible craftsmen of Aus Armour. Their story along is worth telling for posterity.
I was in awe and giggling watching this video. Daryl has endless skills and surprisingly good eyesight as well. I had to pause the video and walk up to the television to get a good look at that little model piece. Very well done. 😎
Q&A on this episode HERE >>> th-cam.com/users/shortsTPoNpP5M05c?feature=share
What 221 model kit are you using as a reference?
Is there a danger of over scaling the new parts due to the limitations in reproduction in the 1/35 scale model as they are not always accurate
Is it possible to made it running condition using spare parts from other vehicles? Whould you do this in future?
What is the traverse?
why do you use a plastic model as a template for the original? Normally it would be the other way around.
Why don't you get the original service instructions for the 2.8cm anti-tank rifle online from the Federal Archives in Germany?🤔

I bought that 1/35 model. What a challenge! Tiny little parts! And full interior!

There's one bloke who we can't question his skills over, Daryl you are a hell of a fabricator.
