Hope looks to the future and the believer keeps going forward because of the hope of eternal life and the promised glory of God. Even if there are trials and tribulations, God is with us, strengthening us and teaching us to cling to Him. Have a blessed day and may our God and Lord Jesus Christ strengthen you.

Peace to all my brothers and sisters in Christ. Another amazing message by Alistair Begg a loyal servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. When we consider God's wrath and understand that we all deserve it, His goodness, grace and love become more pronounced and undeservingly wealthy. The goodness of God is really synonymous with His saving grace, mercy and redeeming love, specifically the goodness of God toward those who are helpless and in great need of His help. We're all sinners deserving God's wrath but He demonstrates His love that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

It was a challenging message delivered with Pastor Begg's usual sincerity.
However what do we mean by the wrath of God and what are the Eternal results. Is it eternal constant torment (not a biblical concept as far as I can see), or annihilation (as proposed by John Stott) or ultimate restoration after a period of purgation (not Purgatory) as espoused by many of the early Church Fathers. To threaten the wrath of God without attempting to to define what it is and what it's purpose is leads to more darkness and fear but not necessarily to repentance. Rom 11v32-36 Grace and Peace.

      @@stephengorman1025
I believe the sermon is about Romans 1:18-24 +28 and God's wrath being against all ungodliness and unrighteousness that suppresses the truth. God's wrath is (present tense) ongoing and continuous against ungodliness (sin against God) and unrighteousness (sin against humanity) whether people reject God or disrespect His creation. God is clearly seen in everything and is present everywhere (even in hell, Psalm 139:7-8) and deep inside people know that God created everything. Although people know God they choose not to glorify Him or even thank Him. Reprobation is God allowing people to have what they want and desire because it's the natural inclination of humanity since the fall (Eph. 2:3) People also know that they all must die and meet God and face judgment. (Matthew 25:41; "Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the EVERLASTING FIRE prepared for the devil and his angels.'") States clearly it is everlasting/eternal/never ending place of torment where there will be (Matthew 25:30;...weeping and gnashing of teeth) How does one weep and gnash his teeth if he is annihilated? Or (Mark 9:43-44; "If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell into the fire that shall NEVER be quenched - where "Their worm DOES NOT DIE and the fire is not quenched.'") Notice as Jesus Christ Himself quotes Isaiah 66:24 to underline the eternal, unending, conscious punishment being the lot of those who do not believe the gospel, reject Jesus Christ, and trample the Son of God underfoot (Hebrews 10:29)... Hell is not the absence of God or simple annihilation, for the wicked would love nothing more than to have no contact whatsoever with the Lord or live a fun, godless life just to simply vanish.

@@konstantinmorgunov196 Thank you for your reply and this is what I concluded for many years but have recently come to understand is a distortion (not deliberately) of the Gospel and comes as a result of starting our narrative at Genesis 3 and not Genesis 1. God's original purpose (which has never changed because He does not change) was to create Mankind in his image and at the end of the 6th day He said it was very good. My understanding is that we (Mankind) is living in the 6th day but the Father, Son and Spirit are/is leading us to Sabbath.
The Gospel so presented ending in ECT or annihilation is not Good News and distorts the character of our God and Father who is Good (not simply perfectly moral).
Aionias kolasis is poorly translated as eternal punishment as it should be 'the chastisement of that age' which indicates the purgative, restorative nature of judgement and punishment not simply retribution.
The Cross, Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus is central to all this - Sin is dealt with on the Cross, Death defeated by the Resurrection and Christ is seated at the Right Hand of the Father until every knee shall bow and every tongue confess (willingly) that Christ is Lord to the Glory of God the Father 1Cor 15 & Phillipians 2v9-11.
Undoubtedly there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth on our path to this final outcome (telos) but God, who knows the end from the beginning will get us there through repentance and faith. Romans 11v32-36 & Colossians 1v15-20.
The Gospel is indeed Good News for All people. Grace and Peace.

Thank you for taking your time to humbly explain how you came to the conclusion you have. The temporary (present tense) "weeping and gnashing of teeth" while we're on this temporary earth does not equate to the future event of eternal lake of fire that is prepared for the devil, his angels and all those "sheep who don't hear the voice" of our Lord Jesus Christ (John 10:26-27) and choose to reject the free offer of salvation thus trampling the Son of God underfoot (Heb. 10:29) and WILL BE (future tense) cast into the ETERNAL lake of fire where there WILL BE (future tense) weeping and gnashing of teeth.
When the last book of the Bible describes the flames of hell, it does not speak of annihilation but says the lost "will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night" (Rev. 14:10-11) Not just eternal but constant ... The phrase forever and ever in Greek (eis - into, toward) + (aionas - eternal) + (aionon - eternity) = "toward eternal eternity" is the strongest descriptive language used of eternal suffering (not temporary suffering while here on earth but "eternal eternity" in hell)...
If the Holy Spirit didn't stop me from ending my own life, that's where I would have ended up and if somebody told me "hey, you'll just cease to exist" I probably would have done it even quicker to escape the temporary suffering I was going through here on earth just to end up in hell. Therefore as we see all throughout Old and New Testament's that Hell is an eternal place of everlasting torment and not all go to heaven (John 10:26-27)(Mark 9:43) for there are those who blatantly reject the voice of God and His free offer of salvation. How you want to interpret the Bible to fit you standards is completely up to you, but the thought of spending all eternity in hell and that we ALL deserve it yet God displays His mercy by giving us the choice to accept the free offer of salvation is far better news than the unbiblical Universalist nonsense that we all go to heaven otherwise just cease to exist, which results in people living a selfish lifestyle and disregarding God all the way to hell.
I regard the arguments for annihilationism and universalism as rewriting the biblical story, something we have no right to do. I say this because the Bible's final three chapters present the eternal state of affairs. The resurrected saints will be blessed with God's eternal presence on the new earth And each of Scripture's final three chapters presents the fate of the unsaved. The Bible's story does not end by saying, "And the unrighteous were destroyed and exist no more." Neither does it say, "And in the end all persons will be gathered into the love of God and be saved." Rather, when God brings His story to a close, His people rejoice in endless bliss with Him on the new earth. But the wicked will endure never-ending torment in the lake of fire and be shut out of the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, which is the joyous dwelling place of God and His people forever. Have a blessed day and let the Holy Spirit guide you in truth.

@@konstantinmorgunov196 Obviously we have both studied the Scriptures and NT and come to different conclusions and are unlikely to change each others' minds. My hermeneutic is that God is good and his love never fails which. The Lake (poor translation) of fire and sulphur is a purification metaphor in which God consumes sin through restorative punishment (kolasis as opposed to timoria).
The good Shepherd will look for his sheep until he finds them all and ultimately reconcile all things to Himself. When the last enemy (Death) is defeated the Son will offer up all things to the Father and God will be all and in all.
Hell is not a word found in the Bible but a poor translation of a number of different concepts which should not be conflated (Sheol/Hades, Gehenna & Lake of Fire).
We read the last 3 chapters of Revelation differently but I believe we will meet in the age to come and pray God's richest blessing on you as you follow Him in this age.

Are you reaching out to non-believers?
