'Jimmy' is the first song in the Judith story. About his feelings as an 11 year old when his mom was paralyzed and reconnecting with that child to deal with trauma, integrate and move through.

I hated the idea at first, but while watching I could see the appeal.
Judith is on her death bed: wings 1
      Maynard is upset: Judith
      Judith passes away: wings 2
I see the appeal, but really it should have been Judith, Wings 1, Wings 2. Wings of Marie are meant to be played together as they are one song. Still, great reaction, it was a journey. Wings for Marie is just such a special song that most of can relate to. We've all lost someone important to us. It's the honesty of the words, the incredible musicianship. It's a masterpiece.

I don’t know what it is, but after almost 30 years of listening to Tool, your videos give these songs so much more meaning to me. Not sure why.
But that “10000 days in the fire is long enough, you’re going home” and “fetch me the spirit the son and the father, tell them their pillar of faith has ascended. It’s time now, my time now, give me my wings.” Always brings tears.
    Brutal

I've cried so many times on the EXACT parts you mention...and very few songs have ever made me cry. I feel like I love his mother like he does. He puts aside his personal biases and meets his mother directly in her faith, using "this little light of mine" that she instilled in him through her faith, to meet her where she is at and to let her know that, according to her faith, she saved him from eternal damnation. So beautiful how he then argues for her to be treated as a saint to the holy trinity. Just amazing.

I enjoyed them before but I had never felt loss like that until now. Judith is my current emotional state. I've told him I've hated him (God) then begged him to forgive my anger.

Killer Saturn reference!! Saturn is mentioned in TOOL’s song “The Grudge”
Perhaps when he mentions Let Go, he’s referring to the pain of losing his mother

@@JimmyIronballs the reference to "Saturn comes back around" is a nod to astrology. There's a belief in astrology that the return of Saturn is a sign of a person moving from their youth into adulthood. It's a period of passing from youthful ignorance into maturity. When you take that definition and put it within the context of the lyrics in The Grudge, it totally makes sense.

Wings Pt. 1 and 2 has so much raw emotion and heart to them. I feel that this is truth being told to us, the listener. Maynard has been very open and honest about his distrust of the congregation. The acknowledgment of his mother’s faith and want for her to have eternal peace from her “10,000 days in the fire” hits home for many I think. I'm christian, and this song breaks my heart. I don't consider this blasphemy, Maynard is just being totally honest which is something we all should strive for. The 'F your god' hurts me everytime I hear it, and yet... He's honest, you know... And if I were in his position, I'd probably say the same words. There's just so much raw honest emotion in this song.

Parts 1&2 make me tear up in about 5 different places... Such love and compassion, definitely a song I feel as much as hear. It's one of his other bands, but check out Agostina by Puscifer. A song written about the first time he saw his daughter. It's a gorgeous song, and as a parent fully sums up that feeling of meeting your child for the first time. Keep going man, your reactions are always spot on, you're taking a journey on that treadmill.

Said I wouldn't cry this time...crying, sigh. My mom died Nov 2013, we always had a huge family gathering at her house every Christmas and so now, right before Christmas, I really miss my mom. This song just brings it out even more, let's me grieve my own mom and wish her well on the other side. She fought multiple myeloma cancer for over a decade.

Edit: First and foremost THANK YOU for sharing your journey with us through your reactions. It's amazing watching somebody who truly appreciates what Maynard and Tool are capable of doing through music alone. Watching you these past months or so has been the highlight of my year. It literally makes my day better when I see you have posted a TOOL reaction. So from the bottom of the TOOL ARMY's hearts THANK YOU.
(now my original post) I have been waiting on this lineup for a over a month. The anger that Maynard has in Judith, compared to Wings for Marie, is just amazing. Their ability to tell a story through music is just incredible. I'm so glad you reacted to this today. I know I've said this on one of your reactions but this one actually brought me to tears today. I haven't listened to these songs in order in quite a few years. I couldn't imagine going through all of that, especially from a young age. Keep up the great reactions Sebs.

When “The Grudge” says “Saturn comes back around to show you everything. Let’s you choose what you will and will not see and then drags you down like a stone or lifts you up again; spits you out like a child, light and innocent” I always think of these songs. “10,000 days in the fire is long enough.” 10,000 days is long enough to hold a grudge, as well.

Great job man. Its sad that people will alienate others with their ignorant words, like those who blamed his mother for what happened to her. While it’s obvious that our decisions have consequences, many of our trials, especially health challenges can’t be blamed on a lack of faith. I think this story in particular shows the opposite, that she was so strong she could endure it. What a powerful influence for Maynard.

Sebs, great reaction! I too consider myself more spiritual than religious but I have always liked a particular passage from the New Testament in the Bible. 1 Peter 4:12-13. I believe that trials in life can help us come to a better understanding of not only God and Christ, but also those around us. Keep up the great work!

Nice, I do think it proceeds more in the order of Jimmy, Judith, Wings and 10,000 days. Love your Tool reactions though, I think many reaction channels have doubled down on doing Tool as they notice the following of the army produces views but you can tell off riff most don't really 'feel' it. You've been the closest in terms of how the music has always made me feel, the emotions it evokes and the need to grow and be better.

Do you know how difficult it is to be cleaning my snake cages, and listening to this reaction, and your reaction, whilst crying my eyes out? It aint easy, but was so worth it. Thank you for allowing us to rediscover these TOOL tracks with you, and giving your true thoughts and insights. I havent heard this song without crying in years. My mother died 6 years ago from ALS. Her name was also Judith. She was also a very devout Christian, as was my Father, who died last September. This song really hits home everytime its played, but it is a wonderful masterpiece, and has helped me to deal with the death of my parents. Its OK to be mad at God. It happens. We are human. But He has a plan that maybe we arent always meant to understand. God Bless You, and Spiral out!

Just remember that her faith never faltered. This story is told from the point of view of Maynard. It was his doubts and anger expressed. Reminds me of when my Grandmother passed. The nurse said that she was gently singing right until the end. She had buried a husband and 5 children. She was ready to move on. Faith is strong my friend.

Dude your reactions to this video were hard to watch for all the right reasons. It's a gut-wrenching song and I had the same reaction when I was listening to it for the first time. Took a while for me to just kick back and enjoy the music on this one but I eventually did.
Almost anyone can relate to a lot of what Maynard writes, especially with how you interpret it. My mom is a devout Christian and wants nothing more than to see me baptized some day. However, my faith has always been on uneven ground but my spirituality has not. It's an uneasy feeling that many would never understand.
Great reaction, dude.... Patiently waiting for what you have next.

As mentioned throughout the comments check out “Jimmy” for Tool and also “Momma Sed” (live version) by Maynard’s 3rd band Puscifer. The live performance is more haunting/sobering than the studio version

I seen one of your live streams and a guy kept referring to you as Jimmy! Fallon lol but it reminded me you had reacted to Judith with Wings 1&2. That was the right way but the song Jimmy from Tool is the only other song & the prequel to the entire story of Maynard and his mother Judith! So it's a must if you want the entire experience!!!! Again your an amazing reactor! 👏

Awesome reaction dude. You can feel the stages of grief in Maynard’s music. Jimmy is pain and guilt, Judith is anger and bargaining, Wings for Marie and 10,000 Days is reconstruction/working through and Horizons (by his other band Puscifer) is acceptance and hope. Maynard’s mother’s illness had a profound affect on Maynard’s life. She couldn’t look after him anymore and he had to move state to live with his father and step mother. His book “A perfect union of contrary things” is a great read if you ever have a chance. He wrote poetry before he became a musician. I’m glad he did. I’m sure his songs have helped countless people on their journey.
