  • Too many people have opinions about tips & tricks on the Camino de Santiago. This is NOT one of those videos. This is the pilgrim CRASH COURSE to help you prepare for this epic adventure. Don't forget to share with fellow pilgrims who are gearing up for this unforgettable experience.
From essential items to insight on what to expect, we've got you covered.
Deciding what clothes and how much to bring on the Camino de Santiago can be an overwhelming task. With so much information online, it can make your head spin. This is the bare minimum. A starting point.

Yea I should’ve mentioned it was different for women. But I left out the first aid and toiletry kits on purpose.

On August 19th I fly from Edinburgh to walk my 12th Camino starting from SJPDP.
My pack weight is 3.6kgs with everything I need.
I take two longsleeved t-shirts, one collared UnderArmour t-shirt for evenings, one pair of Craghopper trousers, a pair of shorts to wear for when my trousers are washed and also double up as swimming shorts, three pairs of underpants, two pairs of toe socks and two psirs of thin Bridgedale socks.
I take a summer Berghaus jacket and a poncho.
I have my phone and a powerpack plus Spanish charger and cables.
I take a head torch with a red light so as not to disturb people sleeping.
Phone lights are far too bright.
I use a cotton liner for sleeping in and have a very lightweight Berghause sleeping bag for early spring or late autumn use.
My backpack is 25L with an extrs 5L if required.
I wear Altra Olympus trail runners which are perfect for Caminos.
My feet never get hot even with double socks.
They are super comfortable and best of all I never get blisters.
I use a cap with a flap which attaches easily when sunny.
I don't bother with first aid stuff as there are plenty of pharmacies if I needed something.
I carry an ordinary toothbrush, small toothpaste and bar of soap that is good for showers and washing clothes.
Last thing is a set of plastic cuttlery which has also lasted me for years and works great.
