How do you stain wood filler --- if you don't want to stain the entire floor? There are gouges in my hardwood floor. I want to stain wood filler so the color matches, then insert the wood filler.

wood filler sucks. I would rather us water putty wood patch or glue in wood to fit the void with the same grain then sand.

Do you mean regular wood glue like Elmer’s or something along the lines of liquid nails?

Wood glue or super glue

@@troyezell5841 regular wood glue to mix with fine sawdust from the wood your filling in for surface scabs. For filling in small dings use the fine sawdust to fill the ding and add few drops of super glue. For deep screw holes, drill it out to the size for plugs to fit, make plugs with the same grain pattern with a plug cutter, glue and tap in. saw plugs with a Japanese flush cut saw, sand flush. For long cracks rip 5 degree slivers, glue and tap in.
