The Anime is so bad..
Kinda sad bc 1st Half of S1 was pretty much good, went downhill from there. And tbf, Alicization was decent but cut off a lot of things (I think were important) from the LN. Alicization anime really disappointed me bc of how good the LN was.

Ordinal Scale Movie isn't canon but in anime they are making it canon and an introduction of tiny bit of things in Alicization.
Although not adapted the best it can like most lightnovel adaptations.
The author's writing is more improved and polished in Alicization.

IMO calibur arc (the arc after GGO) was pretty boring but the rest of the arcs (rosario, alicization, etc) after that started getting better and better. I also stopped watching after GGO at first because calibur was so boring for me, but i regained my interest after watching rosario (especially because of yuuki, love her)

To be honest, SAO is not even bad. Story is fine, not the best, but not the worst, and is not even in the realm of "bad" bad. There are tons of worst anime compared to SAO. Maybe people hate it so much because it's one of the popular shows while being mediocre at best.

I don't think so, the sexual harassment scenes are intense, but I don't think the anime can be called ecchi.
Compared to animes that's actually considered ecchi in genre and has fan service every episode.
SAO isn't ecchi at all though, the closest it gets is the author's over-reliance on making the villains sex offenders as a cheap way to increase their hateability. Outside of that the series is about as tame as it gets.

Not surprising Towa doesn't know SAO, she's a pretty normie member. Not sure if she's on the level of Botan or Subaru but I've seen seen her talk about anything relating to nerd culture, other than FPS games.
This is not uncommon though, many Vtubers including many Holomems, became Vtubers more as a trend than any real passion for the anime culture.
Towa's passion lies more in singing, dancing and gaming rather than anime. Saying it as mere trend chasing seems unnecessarily rude.
