  • Welcome to our channel, we are a small christmas tree farm located in western Ky. We planted our first tree in the spring of 2018 and have been learning ever since. Come along with us as we continue to grow!
    Well the tractor is sold so i go over a few of my likes and dislikes. Plus a look at my firewood business start up inventory.

    I'm a proud owner of a L2501 and continue to be impressed with it's capabilities. The torque makes all the difference. I agree with the fuel, but at 6'4" I'm not as hindered by it. The rops bolts are a stupid design for those of us who need to lower them to get it in the garage, especially in my Wisconsin winters. I'll stand behind this statement, the L2501 is by far the best bang for the buck!

    • @therichisonstreefarm6085
      @therichisonstreefarm6085  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I couldn't agree more! It was a beast for sure and it's capabilities far outweighed the original thought of what could be done with it! I never dropped the rops but always wondered exactly how. The setup was very confusing because of the worst running through the bolts

    I have a 2019 L2501. I'm coming up on 200 hours and it has done a complete renovation of a 10 acre property, taking it from totally wild to 5 mowed acres plus nature trails, some ditches, ponds, grading, about 300ft of new gravel driveway, removing an old pool deck and masonry patio, tilling a 100x75 garden, and processing about 25 large trees into firewood. I too have nothing but praise for this machine. It may be small but it punches way above its weight class. Congrats on your 39! I can't wait to see how it performs.

      I honestly can not say enough for the machine. I would recommend it to anyone from novice to experienced. Ill be filming a video with the new one this weekend to see what it can really do since the latest upgrade!

      Howdy Doug, Are you still happy with your l2501? People tell me I would be sorry not to go bigger. They say its underpowered for a tiller and mower. I have same acreage size and process our firewood too. I want to get a tiller and brush hog. Didn't want an engine that has to regen and such.

    • @therichisonstreefarm6085
      @therichisonstreefarm6085  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey WD, I may not be Doug but I can tell you what I used with it. It handled a 50 inch tiller no problem. A 60 inch bushhog in thick tall grass, you had to go slower but it still handles it no problem. I also have a 72 inch finish mower and it was a tad heavy for the tractor. I probably should've went with a 60 finish mower. Otherwise a set of pallet forks, boxblade and chainsaw is what I used to clear some of my land.

    The gas filling on the top can easily be solved by using a $15 battery powered fuel dispense that fits in your 5 gal diesel jug. I put my 5 gal jug on top of an inverted 5 gal bucket and the hose reaches the filler hole.

    To lost everything and that Kubota L2501 I have 33 acres farm and I took it over every hill that I thought it would roll over and it never came off the ground but my new one I can’t keep the rear tires on the ground and I can take Garden crashers I put them right in my building and they never rolled this when I can’t keep on the ground. They made it light a lot lighter than the other one. You might wanna try a new one for you. Bye. Have a good day, buddy. Thanks a lot.

    We are getting a l4060le. I posted a video this morning that has a pic of it in the shop getting put together. I'm editing the first impressions video tonight as it was delivered a couple days ago. I like the idea of the small transfer pump. That would also solve the air lock issue in cans nowadays.

    I don't recommend the HST there's nothing the matter with the stick. you have the wrong tires You should have got that AG tires. You also need ballast in the rear tires. The HST transmission whines All the time, and is annoying.

    I’m glad to see these reviews. I’m in the process of getting a 2501 HST (I hope), lol. Have you ever thought of using the small hand pumps like we used to use for Kerosene heaters back in the day? We lost power for 11 days during Isabel, no electricity, no gas stations for a while. I put a piece of hose on it and used it to syphon gas out of my old truck but gravity works in your favor. This way it would be uphill so might be exhausting now that I think of it but I’m only 5’7” so I need to rig something up, maybe sitting the can above the tractor on a small platform or if it would stay, on top of a step ladder, then the kerosene hand pump would work like a dream, no scratching, no spillage, etc. thanks

    We almost got a L2501 watched some vids saw one where A guy said we’ll just signed the paperwork and 20 hours in he needed more power and well at that point it’s a loss depreciation you know . For the same 35k we went with the L3901 and shit I live on 20 acres and it’s more then enough maybe to much but for the price difference of really not much why not you know I hope you like your new 💯🙏🏽

      @therichisonstreefarm6085  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was one thing I should've done was get the 3901 but I didn't. So the new one is 40 hp so that should be plenty and it's more tractor all around. Thanks for watching!

      @jerrytalley802 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like your new L4060. Regarding the L2501, do you think I could pull the rcr1860 brush cutter (600 lbs) with my l2501 FEL removed ? Thanks

    • @therichisonstreefarm6085
      @therichisonstreefarm6085  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a 1260 which is just shy of 500 lbs on it with out the fel. I could almost bounce the front tires off if i dropped it too quick and stopped it before it touched the ground. With the additional weight spread over the the entire brush cutter it probably wouldnt make much difference.

    What new tractor are you getting?

  • @user-3tf67bk46u

    For you guys that have an L2501 HST, could you please measure your hydraulic level for me? I need to know the measurement on level ground left to right and front to back but even if sorta level would still help me. I need the measurements using a clean straight wire down the fill hole at the back below the seat back. You'll need a wire at least 17" plus more if you leave a big hook on end so it can't go anywhere if you dropped it. On mine I played only a bit taking gentle jabs until I got it to sink to the bottom of the transmission case. It was easy to get it down to bottom. It does hit something sorta soon after sticking into hole but was easy to get it past that obstruction. From top of neck mine was 16.25 " or so to the O-ring on filler cap, my fingers sorta big so that's not exact. If you could tell me your dip measurement from bottom of wire to your oil level, I'd appreciate it. Especially if it's right after you did a service and it's showing near the top of the site glass. My site glass is on the left side behind where there's a slight cutout at the bottom on the vertical tranny tunnel. Some are forward from there below the clutch pedal. Not sure if that'd give me an accurate enough dip measurement, so prefer if yours is back behind the clutch pedal too.
    I discovered a leak and not sure how much I've lost, leaked onto gravel. Not sure source of leak yet either. Somewhere up centre of tractor about inline with where the filter is. I need to use the tractor to clear some snow but can't get any UTD 2 Super fluid yet. I need to clear snow to get out to purchase it. It'd be great to know my level is just shy of it showing in bottom of site glass. I've jacked right side up a bit and still not seeing it yet in site glass. If mine is too low I don't want to risk damaging the hydrostatic drive.
    (I know it's hydraulic fluid, not crankcase oil).
    Thanks much if any of you could help with this 👍

    Looks like you had a stack of logs in the background. How does the L2501 work for that? That is the primary task I am seeking it for.

    • @therichisonstreefarm6085

      It worked well but sometimes struggles with more than one large log. The new tractor has more lift capacity and handles them better but of course it is a larger tractor.

  • @garrytalley8009
    @garrytalley8009 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't know why you did this video. You did not really mention the tax benefit that made you decide to get another tractor. I can see that if one got a good enough break with the business an upgrade would possibly be a good thing. A larger tractor can do a bit more work in a little less time. I think implements are tax deductible as well and you might have been better off with implements all with quick hitch hook up and perhaps a rear remote and a 3rd function set up if you didn't have one already. I did not see a grapple and you could use one with that lumber, a wood chipper would be nice too. That bigger tractor will require more expensive implements as well. Not to mention the regen process the larger engines require. Good luck with what you are getting. You may need that bigger tractor if Christmas Tree sales go up. I hope for your sake the cancel culture doesn't cancel Christmas. They have been trying for years.

    • @therichisonstreefarm6085
      @therichisonstreefarm6085  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I sure hope they don't get their way. Christmas will always happen here for sure! This tractor had been depreciated out on the taxes so instead of buying more implements all at once and then getting a new tractor in a few years I decided to get a new tractor that is the size that fits our farm and then buy the implements to fit it as time goes.
