You know I've been a drummer at my church for about 2 years now, and this is the best drummer I have ever seen on TH-cam. Better than basically anyone on drumeo in my opinion. SO clean and SO from the heart. Love your chops and blessings to you, thank you for encouraging me!!!
Thank you for not overplaying! Very tasteful. You should have more views, this is the best cover of this song on youtube. You also have a great approach to the verse section in the beginning. Sounds great.
This is the best cover/tutorial of this song on TH-cam. I love how you paid respect to how the original parts were written and performed. :) Most drummers tend to overplay this or add stuff that tend to be abrasive to the music. Anyway, can I get some insight on how your snare is tuned? Details about the snare would also help. Thanks :)
Evan Schippers Thanks for watching and for the kind words! Our cymbal set up looks like this: Zildjian 16" K Dark Crash Thin (TOP) // Zildjian 16" A Custom Projection Crash (BOT) Zildjian 20" K Constantinople Ride Medium Thin Low (primary crash) Zildjian 22" K Constantinople Ride Medium Thin Low (ride cymbal) Istanbul Agop 20" Sultan Crash (right crash)

Ludwig all the way. Don't get me wrong, C&C is a great company, and they have great people there, but Ludwig is where my heart is at. They're so consistent, easy to tune, record EXTREMELY well, and translate well live through just about any system.
Michael Manley Many Many MANY concerts I've been to, wether it's Christian Rap or worship, 95% of the time they're using a C&C kit and it sounds absolutely stupid insane, I'm seriously trying to decide between C&C or Ludwig, I've never liked Ludwig but the sound of these in the video are seriously grabbing my attention, there's no where that I can go to test out either one of those 2 kits, so ordering one or the other is going to be extremely difficult
Your snare sounds great. It's got that fat, warm tone. How do you get that tone? I see you have a remo CS head and a drum ring? Do you have any tuning advice?
quick question. how do everyone practice songs with just instruments and no vocals? I always have no idea where I am when practicing with the worship team and I get scolded. lol. do you count every single 1+2+3+4+ or??? and I'm not very good at Memorial lyrics so that probably doesn't help..
Mo L some people do a click that let's them record there voice to it to tell them bridge is coming up or chorus I think you might be able to get that on some smart deuces not sure
Hey Man! Those hats are 16". Its a K/A crash combo with a K Dark Crash Thin on top and an A Custom Projection Crash. Been using them for 2-3 years now and I absolutely love them. 14s have their place, but for the current sound of worship these days, 16s feel and sound incredible. Make sure you pre-mix them well ;)
Paul Mabury hats! Same ones that I rock at church. It's nice to have several options in the same sizes. Cheap, vintage, doesn't matter as long as it sounds great.
Nope! Everything you hear drum wise, is from the kit and what the mics are picking up! There might be some percussive stuff like tambourine hits or a shaker buried in the track along with it, but there wasn't any post-production sampling or triggering on the drums.

Gonna have to by a Ludwig kit!! What kit is this??
Ludwig Classic Maple. It's by far one of the best kits you can buy for the money you'll spend. Thanks for commenting!
Michael Manley bro I love it! Would you recommend spending the money on C&C or This Ludwig kit?
Ludwig all the way. Don't get me wrong, C&C is a great company, and they have great people there, but Ludwig is where my heart is at. They're so consistent, easy to tune, record EXTREMELY well, and translate well live through just about any system.

Also where can I get one of those beaters?
Please share the specs on that snare? Sounds great!
Thanks for the kind words! It's a Ludwig Black Beauty, 6.5x14 with a Remo CS on top and clear Ambassador on the bottom. Lovely snare!
Thanks for the reply. I thought that was a BB - such a unique sound and my favorite by far. By the way - the entire kit sounds great!
Your snare sounds great. It's got that fat, warm tone. How do you get that tone? I see you have a remo CS head and a drum ring? Do you have any tuning advice?

How did you get that sound from the snare?
quick question. how do everyone practice songs with just instruments and no vocals? I always have no idea where I am when practicing with the worship team and I get scolded. lol.

oh, I find it difficult to play on the toms in the bridge
It looks you’re starting on the second verse, hitting the rims. Is this correct?
I found the official instrumental of this song go on to MusicBed you will find it
what size are your hats dude?
Hey Man! Those hats are 16". Its a K/A crash combo with a K Dark Crash Thin on top and an A Custom Projection Crash.
