Continuous addition of sugars to fed batch fermentation is done to - obtain antibiotics.... Not purity of enzymes ..

Starch cannot be used for ethanol. Yeast acts only on sugars. Thats why grains are germinated before fermenting. Germination releases Amylase which convert starch to sugar. Then yeast acts on the sugar.
