    Glad I listened to your story again Rebecca.. thank you for sharing and thank you Dan, as always .. so helpful.
    I’ve had wrist pain on and off for a long time, last couple of years got so much better with TMS work. Recently had a “possible” injury while carrying my dog and this is helpful bc it reminds me that the incessant attention that I’ve been giving the thumb, hand, and wrist area is keeping me there 🥺🫣🫣
    I just don’t know how to determine if it’s truly an injury.. I pretended it wasn’t and did pushups and 🥴🥴
    Guess tomorrow is another day..🙏🏼🙏🏼

    Rebecca, this is a wonderful, intelligent discussion of all your efforts to heal yourself and, how you did it! Thanks Dan, for your on-going work and for sharing Rebecca’s story with us, your grateful viewers. This is gem for all of us who have tried sooooo many approaches to healing until we finally realize we are in far more control than we have ever dreamed, both in causing and ending our pain. Blessings to you both.

    Dan, I searched this because I’ve had tingling and numbness in right, arm and hand, and left foot and lower leg. I’ve had really numb hands waking up at night for months. I’ve been going to a Pilates class and it’s a lot of pushing and pulling. I know these symptoms are a lack of oxygen and blood flow according to Dr. Sarno. The symptoms are pretty persistent and have been occurring all day as of late. Even when I grab something with the right hand I feel the sharp nerve sensations, almost like a clicking. If you remember, I’ve had numerous TMS symptoms over the years. Despite all my knowledge I still go into fear mode even though I am telling myself I am safe over and over, it’s like I know I don’t truly believe it. And like this woman, I feel like I DO express my feelings but I know at some deep level I am suppressing. I wish to God I knew what these were.

    Nice to hear a familiar accent from England :) and congratulations. Your background so similar to mine. Brought up with lots of music, violin and piano to grade 8, concerts, I was leader of all the orchestras until uni. GSCE and A level music too. Meeting expectations whilst being terrified of performing and hating, even crying through the endless hours of practise which meant I didn't enjoy usual childhood experiences and play. I even did both grade 8s twice to achieve distinction. Couldn't let on Id just a merit!! I've not touched piano since and can't listen to classical music, too triggering - sets me up with anger and resentment for the past and actions of my close relatives which is a shame. (and I haven't found journaling helps either - made it worse as i remembered more and more). Then, writing up my PhD and violin triggered wrist pain just like yours. So now I realise my tms started way earlier than later events, so this video is helpful. I'd forgot about that pain and yes I tried all the ergo stuff too. Now totally different pains, and am struggling as pain is made worse by exercise and yoga which I love and are important to me for relaxation and social life (the importance is probably part of the problem!) as I don't work any more (tms..). I think a lot of pain is from muscle tension and I use breathing, gentle relaxing yoga stretches and meditation for that. I'm using a SIRPA practitioner via Zoom (as I'm in remote Aberdeen now) who is also a physio but I don't need much physio except for the fact I have less range of motion in hip and knee due to past injuries and avoiding moving certain ways, so conditioning myself for the activities I want to do is part of it all, but its a fine line as I don't see structural problems as the cause more an inconvenience which is making recovery just a bit harder. He is good for reminding me of the same messages I see here. Glad I found these videos.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the muscle tension is the result of TMS and not the cause of the pain. You can get well. Keep at it. th-cam.com/video/5SsKnAgAvnY/w-d-xo.html

    This gives me a bit of hope. I've had hand and wrist pain since 2017. I've been to over 30 clinicians, and had surgery on both wrists. Back in July I read healing back pain by Sarno. In August I started a 3 month program with Lin Health. For me too none of the journaling and emotional work has helped. I'm trying my best to not think about the sensations. Trying to focus on messages of safety, small victories, messages of kindness ect. I fully believe my wrist pain is caused by my brain, yet after 4 months of this work I have seen 0 decrease in my symptoms. I have to realize though everyone's journey is different. Everyones circumstances are different. Some get better in a few months. Others in a few years. I'm a mechanic that uses his hands all day long. I can't not work, I have bills that need paid. So 100's upon 100's of times a day when the 'sensations' are hitting and stabbing me I have to pause, and remind myself that I'm safe, I'm fine, my wrists are healed, and that my brain has it wrong. It's a battle in my brain, the negative thoughts and the new good thoughts I'm trying to learn. Any tips you two have would be great as I continue my healing journey.

      Hello, I would keep on with the TMS techniques but also think about the way you are using your hands. Are you gripping too much? Could you use less effort? I found a lot of help with Alexander technique which is training to use your body with less effort. Sometimes if you are thinking ok this is going to hurt, you tense up, hold tight, grin and bear it.

    • @tjs162009
      @tjs162009 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@risshuumusic I will look into the Alexander technique. My work relys quite a bit grip strength. I do try to focus on engaging other muscle groups when I can. Shoulders, biceps, back, legs when possible. The pain can happen with the slightest hand movement and use as well.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your brain is perceiving danger. Period. That's it. Sorry, but journaling is not going to convince your brain your hands are fine. A challenge for you is that the consequences of not getting well are huge due to work/income. This puts a LOT of pressure on yourself. And it makes it more likely that when you feel the pain, your emotional/mental reaction is going to be strong. Fear, frustration, etc. I would recommend you check out my getting started page and go through all the resources there. www.PainFreeYou.com/start

      I'm not convinced your body and grip is the issue. It's all perceived danger. That's evident by the fact slight hand movements can cause pain. Your brain perceives danger in using your hand(s).

    Awesome hearing people recovering from globus. Especially how matter of fact she was about it being stress induced. I've 100% got the mindset and I'm just waiting it out as my brain rewires. Hopefully not too much longer, not cause I'm impatient but I want to be a globus specific success story as it's on par with how scary tinnitus is for so many people. Dan, everytime I have a thought I'm questioning "am I thinking/wanting this cause of fear for some reason?" and if the answer is yes I redirect and give up on the thought. What do you think of handling things that way? I'm making sure I don't suppress the fear I feel it and choose I'd rather live for what I want and think about what I want in life instead.

  • @1STBUCKLEY
    @1STBUCKLEY 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Dan, this story resonated. Is it possible that my humerus fracture (now healed) which has left my lower arm bent (restricted range of motion)& my right hand (unable to make a fist etc)& wrist unable to supinate could be partly( if that's possible) TMS (fear of future if it doesn't fully repair). Timetable of physio quite intense (to the point fingertips feel bruised). Feel like I am always checking progress to the other hands range of motion. Can it be the trauma from the initial assault? Perceived Danger Pain.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bones have healed the way they have healed. That's structural. The message is that once the body has healed, there should be no reason for pain other than perceived danger. Limited movement should not hurt. Make sense?

    I definately resonate with this.. when I had tests done at the doctors they did say I had antibody to Lyme and Epstine Barr... Many people have severe symptoms from this and my symptoms certainly fit into what others have experienced. I still believe that I can over come the symptoms after working with Joe Dospenza stuff too. The thing I struggle with most is that the worst of the pain I experience actually come in the night .. when I wake up in the night I can be totally paralysed with pain and sometimes it continues but normally it dumbs down after meditation early morning. .. Then if I get over whelmed with things it showes up again in the day.. One night I woke up and it appeared that the bones were actually moving in my wrist and since then I have had absolutely horrendous pain if I move my wrist a certain way.. and then sometimes I don't notice it from time to time but then it shows up again... I was thinking about getting that part checked out at the doctors but as they consistantly let me down, I feel I will just head down this route even more and find a way through. Thank you Rebecca and Dan for taking the time to pass this on.

    I'm quite far down the road to get 100% free of my back pain. I got remembered about an episode of back pain when she talked about camping.
    When I was younger (I now know this was the early days of my TMS), I used to get back pain like once a year and it slowly faded away over about 3 weeks. It was painful to go from sitting to standing and vice versa. The back was very stiff and it felt like it was inflammation in the lower back. I could still move around but took a lot more energy to do so. Excercising except walks wasn't an option. It was more or less exactly the same every time I got a flare up.
    One of the times I got back pain was the day before me and 4 friends planned to go to a music festival. It was a long festival where you camp in tents close to the concerts (Roskilde) for 5-6 days. I thought back then that this was far from ideal for my back but I really wanted to go so I decided to fight through the pain.
    The trip to Roskilde was painful (I've always had the most pain sitting in cars for some reason, now that is totally gone though). Setting up the camp site was also painful with all the bending and crawling in and out of the tent and carrying our stuff from the parking lot. Then I remember having one of the best evenings ever with great concerts and meeting alot of new people, some that are my friends still today. That night I went to bed with no pain and my thoughts were that the alcohol (yes, I'm happy to admit that I had a few beers but not more than that) had numbed the pain and it will probably be back next day since this only was 2 days since it started.
    Later in that weekend I realised that the pain was actually gone. I had zero pain or any other symptoms and it felt like it never happend before.
    What I know today is that being on that festival with everything going on around me made me stop focusing on the back pain. Sleeping in a tent didn't make it worse either because I didn't focus on my back. My focus was on, which concert should I go to next? Talking to friends about the concerts we've been to and just have fun with all my new and old friends. Basically I just enjoyed life here and now :).
    So thank you for bringing back this to my memory. I remember how surprised I was that this could happen, back then I didn't have all the pieces to the puzzle so I couldn't solve what was going on. Now I can!

    Hey Dan. Do you have a video on how to talk to others about tms? Or like, do you even talk to them about it? I notice lately lots of my family members and friends have tms. They believe they have injuries that never healed etc. Should I make TMS known to them? Because I don't want to get into fights with people. I once recommended the TMS approach to a friend and she now thinks I'm crazy and is still kind of avoiding me a year later. I don't want this to happen to people even closer to me - like family members. But I do want to help them. What do you advice?

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Lead by example. Get yourself well and let them be curious how you did it. You can't heal someone against their will. If they are open, they will ask. Also, stay away from sarnos theories about repressed emotions being the cause. For new people I sometimes just say that often stress can cause pain. That's more accessible than trying to explain the repressed emotions theory. Or just send them to my getting started page and have them watch my Perceived Danger Pain video. www.painfreeyou.com/start
