I love ❤ all of those anime that you mention thank you.
He mostly included isekai animes that had a plot that was non generic whereas I can say some of the animes you have listed are quite like the one's mentioned in the video.
I have watched all the animes listed there otherr than the first three , Dog Days, Wise Man's grandchild, Isekai Cheat Magician and Outbreak Company they are enjoyable and fun but they are not that memorable like you would not recognise the characters after watching 2-3 seasonal animes but the ones listed in the list are the animes that are mostly remembered quite well by the fans who watch it.

@@petrinagraham7981 Actually I watch them at Animension. I'm not sure if you notice, Muse Asia anime has some edited out parts in their anime. I noticed it while I was watching Skeleton Knight in Muse Asia. I already watched it in Animension before but when I watched it in Muse Asia I noticed some missing parts. Also one reason why I watched it in Animension was because I also like watching the english dub version. I know some would not like the english version but for me, I had been watching anime since 1990s so I sort of wanted a change of pace instead of always watching it in Japanese dubs. But I watch only english dubs that are good dubs and closer to the original Japanese dubs. Like for me I like Japanese dubs for Konosuba instead of the english dubs, but all the anime I listed I enjoy watching in english dubs.

You have no idea how happy I am to see Twelve Kingdoms in this list. It was what got me into isekai and what made my standard on what I expect from an isekai. That's not to say I don't enjoy the now-common op mc in isekai genre but man, Fuyumi Ono's work is just something else. Yes, the anime leaves a lot to be desired but if you can get past the often inconsistent art style, it really is an enjoyable series imo.
You know, for a while this was considered the best Isekai... Then came along the Slime one and people began to put it as the best Isekai, arguably!
It is the same for me when i see the top notch world building they put twenty years ago im always hella pissed when i dont see an Isekai anime without the generic j rpg fantasy Isekai patch

Konosuba, Re Zero, Mushoku Tensei, How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord and Uncle from Another World are my favs.
There are also some Manga/Light Novel only isekai that are also worth mentioning, such as Parallel Paradise, Creature Girls, Into the Deepest Dungeon, Magical Explorer as well as I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire.
Those are also worth looking into.
That demon Lord one is really funny Mushoku tensei is my number one fav konosuba is alright too
You should try watching dungeon only I can enter to train in secret to be the world's strongest its really good but its not isekai

But 2 other Isekai, that most people never even think about when talking about Isekai, but I also like very much, are Digimon and Inuyasha.
I think this list is pretty good! I see like 99% of these lists always put RE: Zero at #1 but I felt like Mushoku Tensei beats that out for my own list. Rezero is like a top 10 for me personally.
Solid list. There's a couple that you overlooked, but still a solid list
Couple that he overcooked as well. Eminence higher than Slime is truly a wtf moment. In fact, it's way too high in general.
Thoroughly enjoy watching and rewatching Slime. Shield Hero and Mushoku have really good moments too. But Grimgar and Re: Zero very quickly made it to my list of all time favorite anime series.
Based on those i would recommend giving Ascendence of a bookworm a watch.

How is overlord and slime not in the top five? Crazy. Good list though.
I'm honestly shocked and offended that Grimgar was so low on the list. The show is so underappreciated and underrated.
It lacks the power fantasy OP characters with their flashy spells that draws many people in. What it does have is probably the best character and world building in the genera.
Most shows are focused on the characters, the world be dammed. Grimgar is about the world that the characters are in. There's no plot armor to make things easy on our cast. Never have i seen any show covey so much weight to each and every action that our cast takes.
The show may not hit everything on our Isekai checklist, but what boxes it does check, it's an 11/10, best in the industry.
Please please make a list video about kingdom building anime, this sub genre is really underrated in my opinion.

Is Reincarnated as a Sword good? I couldn't get in to it and even gave it a few episodes. Same with Skeleton Knight, seemed too... White Night-ish. I have a distaste if the only thing you can do is save women being sexually assaulted and you do it multiple times.
How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord was fairly good.
Digimon is actually top 5 if we're talking old school Digimon.
Shangri-La was touted as being amazing but it didn't keep me. I admit there were some cool things about it but it seemed contrived.

Agreed, Re:Zero is peak. Gotta say though, special place in my heart for the first season of SAO. It was very different at the time and it hit a lot of good spots with good animation and music and a compelling enough story where I only had to suspend my disbelief *a little more* like twice.

I love how Re:zero, because of its premise, does not shy away from hurting the protagonist. There's a lot of times when you'll be like "surely he'll survive this somehow" and then just doesn't

The writing and ghe jokes are impeccable, and not at all as dated as people make it out to be. It holds up better than most shows from the era

I love Cautious Hero, The Devil is a Part Timer, and Eminence in Shadow and Shield Hero, and especially Arifureta which is my favourite on this list
The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic it in my top of list Isekai. The characters are wholesome, the Isekai heroes aren't OP from the start, and it's hilarious. Bonus of Colleen Clinkenbeard being a VA in it.
Re:Zero is near the bottom of the barrel for me. Also, you left a lot of isekai off the list like Log Horizon, Inu Yasha, Knights & Magic, Black Summoner, Solo Leveling, The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic, Parallel World Pharmacy, By the Grace of the Gods, Trapped in a Dating Sim, Restaurant to Another World, and many others better than a lot on your list.
Campfire Cooking In Another World With My Absurd Skill should definitely have been on this list.

My top 5 Isekai's: Mushoku tensei, Ascendance of a bookworm, Overlord, Reincarnated as a slime, and Re:zero.
Honorable mentions: Konosuba, No game no life, Eminence in shadow and Log horizon.
These ones I could rewatch any time of a day. I just love me some good Isekai.

Juuni Kokki (twelve kingdoms) is superb, the books are very immersive, the anime adaptation is very well crafted.

Totally forgot about How a Realist Hero Rebuilt a Kingdom, and now I wish there was more. Show was surprisingly good, though the harem aspects get annoying (like with half of these shows).
Another underrated one is Re:Creators. Being stuck on Prime Video didn't do it any favors, but the animation & soundtrack were really memorable.
I can forgive that you didn't put log horizon here. It not that popular, even I think it has one of the best depiction being trapped in a video game (unlike SOA, Overlord for example). But that you didn't mention hack? That's a sin.
you are not alone many have the same love of Log Horizon. Its end song was my corporate ringtone and no one dissed but asked the source
I would even argue that SAO isn't an isekai, since their bodies (and basically also their minds) are still in "our" world, it's just that their minds have been imprisoned in a virtual space, that also exists in the same world, no transportation to other "worlds" or universes/dimensions have taken place. Whereas Log Horizon is different, because they aren't just trapped in a virtual world.
@@TigonIII this is up for debate, but for me this is a highly overrated Anime. They should have made a 2nd season of accel world, this was way better.
The realist hero is such an underrated gem, not an anime for fights specifically, but the social and IQ plays make it enjoyable for me. Hopefully when we get into next season they do the demon lord justice!
Hope we get another season of "So im a spider, so what?" loved it.
Slime and eminence in shadows needs to be higher
Personally, I see Arifureta and Cautious Hero way higher on the list. They may not have that good of a production value, especially Arifureta and the quite horrible CGI, but they arent that typical, blend or simple as they may seem on the first look.
Arifureta in my eyes has its fair share of parody regarding the isekai genre, e.g. on the harem theme. There somehow is arguably a harem, but its actually always negated to be one and that the protagonist and the female lead are the actual and only couple, just dragging the others along. And for me, I really really like the revenge story and the sarcastic, dark attitude of the protagonist, not giving the least bit of shit about most of his former comrades and only sticking up for his selected group of people dear to him.
Something I miss quite a bit about Shield Hero, wich for me became almost "lame" in this regard. It is okay, that the four heros evolved in their relations, but the cool aspect of shield hero for me was always that kinda bloodthirst-driven style of fighting, overcoming the consequences and feeling the family like warmth of Raphtalia and Filo. Also i would like an even darker shift with "reincarnated as a slime", like the demon lord evolution due to the deaths of his citiziens but actually keeping it dark and revenge driven. Maybe there will be a twist in upcoming seasons, but right now, "slime" is a bit too... happy and pure good for my taste... A taste that seems to enjoy the "revenge subgenre" quite a lot ^^'
One thing i can totally agree on is, that "Drifters" should get a sequel. It's a great show with a lot of epic action and still it is enjoyable, comedic and even slightly informativ to learn about the various historic characters from all over the world. I really dont understand why it never got immediatly another season and i sure do hope, there will be some sequel somewhere in the future.

almost all of this anime's need new season! i like almost all of them! by favorite jonra is isekai and my favorite anime is the Eminence in Shadow, Cautious Hero and Uncle from Another World top 3 for me!

Top 3 are the 3 pillars of the genre for me; Re:zero, Mushoku, and Shadow. Zero for psychological, Mushoku for high fantasy, and Shadow for Parody. I would love to have SAO up there, but after the first season it departed too much for my taste, hopefully Solo Leveling scratches that itch for me. I loved Gate and Tanya as well but military isekai tend to get overshadowed by AOT.
I can't believe Zero no Tsukaima is almost 20 years old. :o

sigh... only maybe two of the list am I interested in seeing more of. I feel jaded. - mainly because I know (read ahead) what happens later.
I would have put Grimgar first or at least top 3, and it's missing Faraway Paladin, but aside from that good list.

That said all the novels are available in English, if you want to discover the rest of the series.
Yea considering it was sort of a slow burn for individual/group development and really had me invested in the characters by the end. It really deserved a 2nd season or a follow up movie.

Sword Art Online is not an Isekai BTW... Just a .hack type of anime, Log Horizon on the other hand is an Isekai!
For the anime to be an Isekai(Another World) people need to leave their world, physically.
But other than that, this is the first time in years that I see an Isekai list with actual Isekais, most of the lists around YT have like 10%/20% Isekais and the rest are all just Fantasy, Power Fantasy and plain Reincarnation. Good job dude!

Out of the top 5 no way Re Zero should be first
Honestly, I don't know that I agree with Konosuba and No Game No Life being in the top 5. I would say that SAO and Slime Dataken are more deserving. I would also say that Familiar of Zero, Gate, and Grimgar should be much higher in the list, but otherwise think this is a pretty reasonable comparison.

Vinii best video for a while now, I used to be into Super Powered and punk style anime till a friend recommended me Sword Art Online. It was my first Isekai, though I have learned I actually seen other Isekai in the past that was labeled Super Powered... But it was the first one and I fell in love with it.. Then I Watched Overlord, Fell fully in love with the show, I was drawing the characters and feeling like a kid again.. Then here recently came Death Mount Deathplay when he uses his powers and his demon style voice comes out.. Gooseeebummppss.. and now I just dont have a favorite because I have fallen for mostly the entire Genre. I cant thank you enough for the recommendations from videos, This Video has given me 4 more to check out. Thanks!

Beside missing Log Horizon and Dog Days i felt should have been on this list, but well i am a fan of them both and think they both underrated, but you for sure forgot. My Next Life as a Villainess (Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta) that show kicked that genre in to gear.
Reincarnated as a Sword (Tensei shitara Ken deshita) should also been on the list, better then some of the shows you mention.
Trapped in a Dating Sim (Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai desu) and The Dungeon of Black Company (Meikyuu Black Company) are both worth mention.
I also feel you forgot to mention that to several of the shows, have great VA casts for the characters, that did you liked em even more and highten the show, forinstance Tanya would not have been so popular if not for the perfect match of the VA voice and character.
Ascendance of a Bookworm yes it is a sort of slice of life with humor and smile, but you forget that even with the humor and such it does have the underlying threat from the nobles and those in power that give it a darker feel in between the more light heart feel.
I knew mushoku tensei and re:zero would be number 1 and two, and i think re:zero at 1 is not wrong. Very solid list, even if SAO is too high for an anime that is commonly agreed to be mostly bad.

Being depressing and frustrating doesn’t make it bad. Life ain’t always sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes you have to overcome true hurdles, even those that come from your own weakness as a person. That’s what the show is telling a story about, about truly becoming a better person. Not about being handed a get-out-of-being-a-loser free card like 99% of other isekai.
That’s the reason it’s so damn good and why people who actually care about narrative place it among the top of lists
@@SilverSaw988 Agree friend, however there is a catch here, anyone can be get better and improve if you know that life will keep giving you chances again and again, after death you can reborn again and correct the mistakes like video games.
However this getting reborn again and start from same messed up situation is really frustrating. ThankGod, Real world doesn't have this kind of system.

None of the rules are explained to him. And even after he learns that the resets are probably infinite, he still can’t control where he’ll be sent to, risking both his sanity; and making certain events set in stone, out of his control. As you said, it’s just as much of a curse as it is a blessing, feeeling agonizing deaths, being reminded over and over of your failures, remembering relationships that never happened for your loved ones. It’s a truly horrifying power.
If Re:zero was poorly written, subaru would be able to kill himself without physical or mental consequence, and he’d likely even have full control over his respawn. Thankfully though, the author chose to limit the ability for the sake of the narrative, and return by death instead is used to display not only what it takes to truly grow as a person for Subaru, but also many sides of other characters that only are possible to see in failed world lines, adding extra depths to their character. Such as when Rem died instead of Subaru in the mansion, showing that Ram truly cares for her sister, at a time when the audience didn’t know her true nature.

At first I was like isn't that one from the late '90 (when it first premiered), but no it premiered in 2000, so it would actually make the cut.
Not this century, but still a pretty epic show for its time.
