Thank you gorgeous lady. Do you have a video on how to export a pattern from WinStitch to Pattern Keeper? Also In WinStitch, is there an option to zoom into a certain area of a pattern?
Thanks for making this vid. It's always interesting (and scary !) watching somebody use your software 'without a safety net' :) Do drop us a line about how YOU like a color key. You never know..
The way PCStitch *used* to do, and what I loved was that the symbols had an "alphabetical" order to them. In the PCStitch segment of the video, you can see the symbol chart on the left going circle, half-moon, bowl, folded line, etc. They would always import in that order. With the new version, they threw this out and the only way symbols import in PCStitch is to correspond with the lightness of the floss colour, so you can see the design in the BW chart. That's cool and all, but there's a problem with that. My brand has always been huge patterns, with 200+ colours, and having symbols in their "alphabetical" order on every chart was a huge feature of my patterns. I've switched pretty much exclusively to WinStitch since this video, because PCStitch was awful for my drawn patterns (which is the majority of them), and now the symbols on the chart are basically how they're going to be unless it decides to put two nearly-identical symbols close to one another for big sections. For my iOS customers, this is less of an issue on both counts since I do push Markup pretty hard with all of my patterns. But for Android customers, every single chart has the symbol key in a different order, whether it's charted with PCStitch or WinStitch, unless I want to take several hours per chart to put them back into the correct order. It's such a small thing on the surface, but knowing that the triangle will always be one of the first colour numbers on the chart makes it easier for the stitcher to know where to find that floss. Then when the question mark comes up, the stitcher knows that's going to be one of the very last numbers in their box. When there's that kind of consistency in the charts, for 200+ patterns that someone might have downloaded from my Patreon, it adds up to a lot of saved time looking for floss. It also translated to cohesion across sellers. In the past with PCStitch, you could download just about any large chart from Etsy, and if the seller used PCStitch, you'd already know the alphabetical order of the symbols. But now with PCStitch throwing out this feature, and WinStitch kind of just throwing whatever it wants at you, it's a bizarrely big disruption to the workflow. It's such a small, weird thing to get hung up on, but man I miss it. Regarding the printed page itself, on top of this, it's just so big. A single colour takes up an entire row, so even on the smallest font, my colour keys are like, six or seven pages long! Having a condensed key with four or five columns of just symbol - colour would be so much nicer for stupidly big HAED rivals.
@@MadXStitcher Interesting. Sent you a direct email with a few ideas.. Also, that last bit about the key.. have you tried the Thread Sorter? That sounds exactly what you suggest here.. 2, 3,4 columns with just the symbol and Number..
The dithering looks nice on paper, but it feels like it would be hellish to stitch! Still, it looks like it would be a better color conversion even when dither off.
Hey there Milesy. Great video I've been looking at winstitch and pc stitch. I enjoy your videos! I was curious, I've had a lot of ideas that I've been sketching out for patterns and eventually I may (possibly) want to see if my patterns would fly on etsy. Would winstitch give me all the tools needed to create sellable patterns? Thanks so much!
Ugh, I wanted to like KG-chart, but my god the attitude of the developer gets up my nose. I can't stand software that exists just because the developer wanted something their own way, and then is charged for and doesn't take any suggestions or criticism.

I'm not associated with them in any way. Can't help you, sorry.
@@MadXStitcher Hi. Just checked.. I see you got there in the end. :) Thanks!

Yes, WinStitch has a few different export options, and even has written into their TOS that their software can be used for store owners.
If I buy this and download it to my computer, what happens if I buy a new computer, will I be able to download it again or will I have to buy it again
It's registered software, so if you buy it, you get a key tied to your personal info. You can use that key to unlock the software on another computer.
Thanks for this video. WinStitch is very superior to even KG-Chart.
