I really enjoyed this video on your greenhouse set up. I use the same heater paired with a Vornado fan. Clearly you get a lot of nice blooms in the winter. 😊
@marylalone7104 thank you!!!😅. And thank you for watching! I will upgrade to that fan. The plastic blades are way better and the gusty breeze is exactly what l want!😁
Oh, you want to know about growing with northern exposure? Yea, challenging! I grow indoors in an IKEA Milsbo Tall cabinet, on top of that cabinet, and in a DIY built wooden grow box. I use Barrina T8s for my vandas and cattleyas and Barrina T5s for everything else. I get blooms in all my mature vandas, phals, cattleyas, and oncidiums multiple times a year in the summer I put some on my balcony and I have to use a shade cloth or they do burn… I feel like they grow better in perfect conditions in the IKEA cabinet. Oncidiums and their long spikes are very challenging inside! Happy Holidays
@OrchidMarcus those grow lights are diesel!!! As they have to be with northern/lower light! That's actually what l miss most about indoor growing. There was way wayyyy better control! Every year l lose plants to freezes, or little accidents in temp control here and there. It can be a nightmare ..and thr humidity swings are a beast. The greenhouse thing was a way to separate my plants from my kids for a little ...but sheesh.....it ain't easy 🤣
@OrchidMarcus oh yeah!!! I had to put little tiny mesh near some when my son was a toddler....then the cats....they would bite the leaves! It is always something!
@loriwoods1393 Depends on the type of orchid. With the vandas....l have dedicated a few videos to those. I should probably make a video to discuss the rest. I generally use a blend of media for each individual plant to fit their individual needs. Each phal isn't potted exactly the same, Same goes for the cattleya, dendrobium....etc.
Deep Dive into all the lighting l use:

What is your growing medium for your orchids?
