It’s amazing how being a parent changes everything. Changes our perspective on all things, even Star Wars. As a dad, I teared up many times as well. So great to see you do a reaction with a parent lens. Congratulations on your new family
He brings up a great point about being more emotional after having a child. And having a child definitely puts everything in a different perspective in everything we do but definitely when we see a child on screen.
Absolutely. Since becoming a dad a few years ago I've noticed changes at the psychological level in myself... Things that would not really register that deeply with me before now elicit strong emotional responses...
"Sacred" is the perfect word to describe this post Ep.III - pre Ep.IV canon timeframe in our collective fan mindset; there's no way to not feel wave after wave of emotion when watching today. And for those of us who were kids when Star Wars first came out and who now have kids, to see Leia portrayed at about our age? Waterworks were opened.
As a father of a daughter, i really responded to the Leia scenes. She was so well cast and the dialogue, acting and situations seemed so 'right' for what we've come to know of her. The scene with Bail was beautiful. It's clear their bond is immense, she clearly idolised him and in turn, she is the absolute apple of his eye. I think her force ability comes via her insight into people's hidden motivations. I also loved the Lawrence of Arabia esque photography. I was hoping for something like that. I appreciated the Sith eyes on the Grand Inquisitor too.
I have lots of critiques of these episodes, but watching your joy and love watching this reminded me how to watch with an openess rather than with jaded reservation.
Seeing obi so broken after everything. The prequels, the clone wars, it breaks my heart, I love him too much to see him throw in the towel. I'm glad Bail was there to nudge him into action
I'm with you 100% of the way! Having that recap at the beginning of this was a great touch. It really pulls at the heart strings of Star Wars fans. It added to the hype and anticipation. Literally no franchise gets me on edge quite like Star Wars. I was constantly checking the runtime, hoping I wasn't near the end, wanting so much more!
I think this series makes it almost a 6-hour movie. This means they can afford the slower pace in this first episode and really allow us to see the level of depression and PTSD that Obi-wan is suffering from. I felt this was an amazing introduction to the series and the actress that is playing a young Leia is spot on. Flea now being Star Wars canon is a cherry on top.
I was watching this video with my 3 year old brother and the first thing he said was "is that store" (thor in his language) and he started swinging his thor hammer 😂 love the reaction!
Only after two episodes I'm enjoying this more than any other Star Wars content as of late. Can't wait for next Friday, this might just be the best Star Wars show that's been created yet.

I know what you mean about getting emotional watching John Williams conduct. In 2009 I visited Los Angeles for a ceremony at the Hollywood Bowl. We were surprised by several guest performers, such as Roger Daltrey soloing a few The Who songs, which was fantastic! But the finale of the evening was the best part. John Williams came out and conducted the LA Philharmonic in a medley of Star Wars music, while fireworks burst overhead. It was magical and something I'll never forget. I love Star Wars and so far love the Obiwan show. You are one of the few star wars commenters who aren't being overly critical and spewing negativity, and I appreciate that. Man watching you react to this actually got to me a bit! The impression I get from the series so far is that it is being made by people who actually love Star Wars
Quote of the day/for next intro: "For over a thousand generations the Jedi were the guardians of peace in the galaxy. Before the dark times. Before the Empire." Also, I did NOT make that connection of those younglings being the ones they see in ROTS. Good eye! Great reaction as always!
@@coreymoore2719 Yeah, at the very least that was definitely a different group of younglings. The ones in ROTS were hiding in the council chamber, these younglings were nowhere near that part of the temple and, as far as I could tell, seemed to be much closer to the main entrance on the lower levels.
One thing I like about the grand inquisitor is even though Rupert Friend didn’t watch rebels to learn more about the character he still managed to replicate Jason Issacs sarcastic tone which the inquisitor had which was nice.

I'm with you a 100% about the remark about seeing the Star Wars universe differently after you have a kid. I have 2 girls, and they like to sit and watch with me when I watch Star Wars, but being kids, they don't sit still for very long, lmao. But it's the thought of them enjoying what we enjoyed as kids, and still do to this day, and sharing it with your youngling that makes it even more special.
It has been so long... Very amazing reaction, for me also it was a realization that Obi-Wan Kenobi finally has his own focused story. Thought that it would be a movie, but a television show. I mean... Hayden Christensen, Ewan McGregor, even Jimmy Smits. Their back together. The characters and all, so amazing, and it's been so long! It's been long and this reaction to everything is awesome to witness. Epic to see others being impressed and amazed by it. I have so many questions too... Qui-Gon, what is going to happen to Luke, how about Leia, are we going to see the Empire's influence?! All these questions and Galaxy wide excitement, atleast on our part... Wow. All else I can say is May The Force Be With You and we shall see where Obi-Wan Kenobi finds himself!
Another thing to consider is that we've been told by Grogu talking through the Force to Ahsoka that he was in the Jedi Temple at the time of Order 66 and was rescued, possibly by Quinlan Vos or another Jedi that survived the massacre.
I agree that we should have seen a few more clones overwhelming the Jedi, but that wide shot of the temple with just a few lightsabers staving off the blaster fire... oh the feels. Everything about this episode hit me in the feels. But Leia, and the amazing actress Vivien Lyra Blair who played her... warmed my heart so much! Just like you, seeing kids, and especially her reminded my wife and I of our niece. She is so much like a younger version of the New Hope Leia - they really did an amazing job with this episode. I cannot wait to see the story unfold. As for the Inquisitors, they were always a much lower threat than the sith - we see that in Rebels too. But they are the perfect vehicle to steer Obi-Wan on his collision course with Vader. I think it was a brilliant move to include them, personally. And like in Rebels and the game Fallen Order, the inquisitors are completely full of themselves (and annoying in that respect), so that tracks well with their existing development in other media. I agree that they are respecting the existing material extremely well in this show, and we are loving it here.
It’s that time again when we get to watch a Star Wars show and then share the passion with fans like yourself. The first two episodes have been Fantastic for me and hit me right in the feels.
I think if Reva had a voice like Trilla from Fallen Order she would be a lot more menacing. Loving it so far though and its great to see someone who gets emotionally invested like I do. Awesome .
I love your emotional reaction, I really like watching your reaction, you look like a bear, I have a heart full of love, keep it up, greetings from Germany
You had a similar reaction to the Qui-Gon part of the recap as I did. The fact that they put that in there & put it in it LAST means he has to be in there at some point. I'm thinking probably right at the end of the last episode but it'll be there! I had so many tears and emotions throughout this episode.
You and Kyle Katarn are my favorite SW reactors! You guys know your starwars s***! Can you react to Starwars survivor? I wanna know who was in the Tank at the end?
Finally someone who gets the Owen and Obi-Wan dynamic. Ever since I saw Star Wars as a little boy more than anything else I wanted to know what happened between Obi-Wan and Owen (we didn't know the whole Vader is Luke's father thing yet). I hope we get a little more.
@@razorsfury6519 Yes I did. Sorry if you find it so unbelievable. He was the one mystery that wasn't really addressed in Star Wars along with what the clone wars were. At the time we didn't even know there would be a sequel so I was always curious what happened before Star Wars. I figured there must be a reason he hated Ben so much.. In my 5 year old head I thought maybe Owen was a Jedi who left the order or a someone of fought in the war along side Luke's father or even a clone that took him under his wing. Then Empire came out and we had a whole bunch of other things to think about (Including one really big mystery) so I forgot about him until they announced the Prequels. The fact that they didn't address Owen and Ben much in the Prequel trilogy was always huge disappointment for me. Now we know he's just some guy with no powers who is trying to protect Luke t the best of his abilities. This probably would have disappointed 5 year old me but it makes 30 year old me like him even more. I'm hoping they get into it more in this series.
@@njt2347 no you didn't. It wasn't even a mystery. It was clear from a new hope he didn't want luke to have anything to do with the war. This isn't a now we know situation. This is a contrived show with horrible writing used in a weak attempt to tell it's own story while breaking lore. The very idea that Kenobi is another broken man that gave up on the Jedi like they did to Luke in the sequels is ridiculous. It makes it worse defend this horrible writing. They didn't "address it" was because it wasn't an interesting story point to even explore
@@razorsfury6519 Wow. So you're an expert on what I thought as a five year old and what I think now. It must be quite a thing to be so omniscient. You're welcome to your opinion as to what you find as acceptable canon and what you think is good writing. As I told someone who dumped on me when I told them I dislike the sequels, I'm good with people disagreeing with me. That's what makes the world interesting. But don't for a second think you can tell me what I think or feel about anything. And don't call me a liar. You're not the arbiter of these stories no matter what delusions of grandeur you may have. I am old enough to have seen Return of the Jedi in the theaters. So I definitely grew up with Star Wars in my blood. I too don't know why the prequels don't get the love they should. Sure there were some cringy parts, but they were excellent in terms of story telling. You have amazing insight. You bring up things that I do not catch, so I love your Star Wars reactions. I always felt like a wimp when I tear up seeing content from this universe. So, I love seeing that I am not alone in this. Thank you for such a great reaction. Keep up the amazing work!!
My Gen X dad has come around to them as a whole, mainly only number 3, but most others his age can’t accept something that came out as a grown up is “truly Star Wars” as nostalgia is putting the perfect emotions into characters and being too young to see the flaws. It’s like me remembering the early call of duties on the original Xbox as having photorealistic graphics yet today I can see they were trash for obvious reasons. I utterly love attack of the clones since I grew up on that film, was unable to see the flaws and then fantasized what the life of Anakin was for the many years after aotc with toys and games until rots came out. Yet I have a hard time accepting some of the new Star Wars shows as “Star Wars” as it doesn’t feel “established” and I see the flaws at my age. Kenobi so far has been great and I beg God that the leftover 4 episodes are just as good or better.
@@anglishbookcraft1516 I just love Star Wars so much that I try to focus on the good and not the cringy parts. I hated Jar Jar when I first saw him, but I have a coworker that was 28 when I first spoke with her about Star Wars. She said she loved Jar Jar because she was so young when she saw the movie. That opened my eyes. These movies weren't made to make ONLY me happy. So, I appreciated the movies even more when I came to this realization. If they keep creating the content, I will keep watching with optimism. You analogy about call of duty is right on point!
I love your review & comments Fred! The younglings sequence threw me a bit because I thought at first it must have been a later attack because it came after we see Darth in the recap. But then when I saw the scale I realised it was the major attack & separated from the recap. I agree with your thoughts re a Jedi would be able to hold off a couple of clones so that sequence puzzled me for a moment. We were lucky here during filming Ep2 in Sydney to have filmmaker nights at Fox studios and Nick Gillard came one night and did a presentation about the stunts. I think Nash Edgerton also came along and producer Rick McCallum. Gillard was fascinating and so knowledgeable, yes he really left a mark and that fighting technique was signature for Jedi. All in all I absolutely LOVED ObiWan. This really felt like the real Star Wars and Ewan is perfect for this role. His voice is iconic and his acting has matured. He has much more subtlety now, such beautiful restraint & expression and it rounds out the transition to the original Guinness ObiWan. Cannot wait for more, of all the Star Wars universe, ObiWan’s is the story that continues to hold my fascination most. I also got such a surprise seeing Leia!! It was a completely wonderful show and I think after the last couple of years we all really deserved to enjoy & revisit something so loved.
So... Was Reva one of the younglings? There was definitely a little black girl there with a very similar back braid in the five that escaped. Just speculation.
I agree with you 100% regarding the lighting in the opening scene on Tatooine. The sky looked too white and the set looked like it was lit by flourescent lights. I wondered if it was because I am just too old and used to film and video that is not so perfectly clear. I feel it improved later, but I may have just gotten used to it.
I haven't seen episode 2 yet, but I must say young Leia is savage in this. Think Lady Lyanna Mormont 🐻. "You've never made a decision in your entire life and you never will. I may not have seen much, cousin, but I can see that." Ouch.

The first two episodes have been Fantastic for me and hit me right in the feels.
thx for sharing this special moment in life
i think the leia actres did a fantastic job
I think if Reva had a voice like Trilla from Fallen Order she would be a lot more menacing. Loving it so far though and its great to see someone who gets emotionally invested like I do. Awesome .
I still find it crazy that I can mimic what any character says in the OG series and give myself the chills. Great content man!
Your comments about the reserved, more sinister aspect of Sith characters is absolutely on point.
Your comment on them being the younglings obi and Yoda found really got me thinking. After watching episode 2 that is starting to make sense
i was worried i was the only grown ass man who was nostalgic and emotional in this episode.. whew.
You're not alone man
It feels so different see a reaction from a real Star Wars fans 🥹
Long have we waited.
This is a show that was made for true die hard Star Wars fans.
Been watching your videos since boba fett series
Here i sit, watching Thor, Son of Odin, reacting to the Kenobi TV series. Enjoyed the video.
I love your emotional reaction, I really like watching your reaction, you look like a bear, I have a heart full of love, keep it up, greetings from Germany
I love watching your reactions- the feels are strong with you ( btw I secretly refer to you as Thor)
You had a similar reaction to the Qui-Gon part of the recap as I did. The fact that they put that in there & put it in it LAST means he has to be in there at some point. I'm thinking probably right at the end of the last episode but it'll be there!
I had so many tears and emotions throughout this episode.
I kept waiting for Flea to call Obi-Wan "Chicken" and challenge him to a podrace like Needles in Back to the Future. 😂
The little actress that plays Leia absolutely nailed it ❤
You and Kyle Katarn are my favorite SW reactors!
Lol sure you did
@@razorsfury6519 Yes I did.
Feel free to troll away as I am sure you will after this. Its the last you'll hear from me.
@@njt2347 no, I just actually pay attention and don't blindly praise trash. Also, I don't give a flying f**k if you welcome my opinion or not. I'm still going to call your bullsh*t. You don't like then don't post in a public forum
I love watching your reactions. I am just as emotional when I watch too. ❤❤❤
All mighty dear Thor, thank you very much for your true and emotional reaction 👏🙌. Knowing that our dear and beloved BIG Leia has left us and seeing this incredibly cute little Leia, who wouldn't tear up. You are a true fan and may the force be with you always!! 🙋♂️🙋♂️
No shame in crying. I cry for emotional scenes in Star Wars too. And I don't have a kid.
Always the first reaction video I try to find
I had the exact same thing happen once I saw my child be born my emotions are just 100 fold
That order 66 scene at the beginning was just amazing! I think it’s the first time we have actually had clone troopers that weren’t CGI!
The beginning is totally Order 66 from Reva's POV.
Skyman your reactions always touch me. It's like seeing myself react.. the beats are almost the same! This is a beautiful story unfolding.
Hello there ! That was awesome and so emotional.
The Leia chase scene was ridiculous! Lol :)
RIP Colin Cantwell what an amazing person you were.
I felt like Crying while watching this, so far this series is amazing, Ewan is just incredible as Kenobi… ❤️
This series is the worst I’ve seen yet. Just my opinion. In really disappointed thus far.
I have a son and a daughter myself and I agree, you see things in a whole new way after having children.
I love your love of Kenobi 💗
"Skip recap? Who on earth would do that". I SAID THE SAME THING!
