Before the fashion industry turned them into "fanny packs" us outdoors people called them "hip bags" to carry our necessities. I graduated from a College that was Outdoor oriented, Wildlife Biology, Forestry, Outdoor Recreation, Environmental Law, what was a great school in Maine called Unity College. When going into the forrest of into the mountains for field trips we used hip bags to carry snacks, what ever tools needed along with hooking our Nalgene bottles on. I used one many times on geology, ornithology, dendrology, etc field classes or labs all year round because hip bags were just the right size and easy to carry on our waist then hauling a backpack. I still use one when I just need something small to carry my stuff without filling my pockets or carrying a backpack 😀
Yes. In 1982 the term EDC wasn't used, hip bags were loose and baggy and very functional. At 57 I still use them, albeit a cheap wal mart $15.00 Outdoor Products pack that is indestructible...not really into these name brand pricey ones with funky names. I call mine a purse...I'm cool with that man.
I am a diabetic with low blood sugar so I need to carry something at all times so yeah I use a fanny pack and I don't care what people think it fulfills my needs
Oh man, you missed the CCW hook and loop panel in the main compartment. That’s where I put my Vanquest holster. I actually wear this as a fanny pack in the front - yeah not the coolest looking, but sling-ing it moves around too much when I’m hiking. I actually love it and use it all the time. It’s basically an EDC organizer pouch that you can wear and carry a CCW
That’s a good call. I didn’t even think about sliding a pistol in there. My standard is an M&P so when I saw that space I didn’t even consider it for a smaller one. Good catch!
Yep, I have both the large Dendrite's and carry a pistol in the hook and loop panel via the Vanquest holster, you can purchase seperately. I carry mine as a sling bag, on my walks. I carry a small 12 ounce plastic "Coke" bottle filled with water in mine, along with an Olight SR1 Baton, CCW and several other items. I have the back/charcoal color one, as I prefer the grayman look over the camo/tactical look. I also have the small Dendrite, but haven't used it much.
I like that bag it's the best size for going into the city, and not attracting to much attention. I will be carrying it over the shoulder similarly to how you displayed it.
I’ve always carried some type of Fanny pack or murse ( man purse ). I always carry my EDC items including firearm and extra mags. I live in Miami, 99% of the time the attire is gym shorts and a pull over and I like to carry all my stuff. Had a Fanny pack, currently have the rush push pack and now going to upgrade to this dandrite bag. BTW I think you for got to mention and point out some feature. Great firearm bag.
Man my buddies and I have been searching for multicam in stock and when you posted this, I really thought vanquest lied when they said they’re out of stock until 2nd quarter 2021. Blue balled
i like sling bags. there are too many occasions where a couple simple tools could have sped up the day not completely inconvenienced me. carry a small stream light flashlight and a para 3 knife works really well, but i see this bag as something i either have hanging in my office at home or in the trunk of my car. most tasks that require tools don't demand an entire floor mounted tool chest and $500 power tools. for me, this is something i like to have handy, but definitely not something i'm wearing to walmart to get groceries lol
I have the same multi cam and I like it alot, Vanquest makes sturdy packs, this is the new style in wearing the pack, you wore it exactly how I do , front or back depending what your wearing, great video and thanks for sharing
When I wear a fanny pack, I wear it on my waist and position the pack on my side. Let the strap be a little loose, so the pack hangs a tad low, like a holster. This method allows me to drape my untucked T-shirt over it and also minimizes it from bunching up my jacket. Plus it is still forward enough so I can guard it against pick-pocketers. I really advise against wearing the pack at your back where you can't see or feel if someone is opening it. In addition, I don't like the idea of wearing it across the shoulders with the buckle at your back. That's too easy for someone to pop the buckle for a quick grab and dash.
I wear one in front of me, easy to get to in every situation even seated in a car and can throw a jacket over it and it just looks like a stomach. Keep a few things like a battery bank with cable, small first aid kit, change organizer, wallet, lighter, keys, small multitool and flashlight, earbuds, reusable grocery bag and a conceal carry handgun
I use to hate the idea of fanny packs but its very practical. Now i can get all the stuff our of my pockets and there’s absolutely no reason now not to carry my ifak. Cat 7 , chest seals bandages, scissors etc
I like the 8-15 L sling bags for casual use. I carry briefcase daily to work that can fit my laptop, planner, and edc. This is a more casual version that is much easier to access than a backpack. Patagonia Stealth is a nice one and they make a fishing version that has a water bottle pocket and some shoulder strap storage.
Might be my German heritage, but, I've been rockin a Helikon-Tex Pussum, as a chest sling and sometimes waist pack, for a few years and, I'm a convert. Don't knock it till ya try it! Thanks for the review. Bless ya bro.
Merry Christmas Tim! Great video. This dendrite large hands down one my best purchases ALL year. It’s fabulous. It’s great on the trail as a simple Fanny pack. Mostly wear as a sling. Makes me really prioritize what gear I EDC. Love it!!!! In main pouch there is Velcro for CCW if that’s your thing, love the locking zippers too...
I wouldn't know style if it hit me in the face, so I'd be comfortable wearing it in any position if it were comfortable and practical. Might have to drag out my old fanny pack and give 'er an edc spin. I had only used it for traveling in the past. I typically carried it in front, not on my fanny. But that guy looked good when you slung it.
I would never wear a fanny pack. I am ok with. it as a sling. In the summer when your wearing light weight shorts a sling may not be a bad idea. Something small, subtle, even covert if you would.
I have been looking for a “Fanny pack” so that I can take it on more of a EDC role vs a back pack. I just don’t carry enough gear to make a back pack a everyday requirement. I love vanquest but ultimately went with the Vertx offering for the CCW dedicated back pouch. I do carry a firearm all the time and wanted this for an off body option and just did not like how Vanquest situated it in their offereing.
I like the alternative carry method you are doing but I do have to admit ever since Aaron over at Gideon's Tactical promoted the Helicon-tex fanny pack, I have also been wearing mine during hiking here and there. I wonder what's behind the name choice of "dendrite"? Does Vanquest think it to be an "extension" or "branch" of our main person or our regular EDC bag? I can appreciate the "gray man" idea, but what's the selling point if not getting the famous Vanquest organization within the internal compartment? I'm a little meh about it, personally. Thanks for sharing the video, brother. 👊
Nice vid, looks like a good lil pack for a more minimal edc. I'm currently working on a adding one to my edc rotation, (cheapo from Wal-Mart) if I like it enough I might have to grab one of those.
Been wanting one of these in multicam black but they've been out of stock for months. So at this point who knows if I'll ever get one. I know pandemic supply issues but I'm fairly certain I could source the material and sew up my own before I see this product back in stock.
LOL. I feel the same as you with men wearing fanny packs. Something's just not right with that almost the same as men wearing sandals with no socks LOL.
Hi Tim, great review as always. Have you checked out Cannae Pro Gear? They also have a "fanny pack", called "The Belerian". They also have a whole line of packs, bags and accessories as well. Happy Holidays!
@@moeilijktedodenkrijger2611 not necessarily Hollywood vs RL. You could have an opportunity to counter attack but if ur bag was gone so is that oppurtunity
I think they are useful. I mean they are not going to carry a fifty pack of TP on the way home from target on your skateboard while fighting off deadly zombie ninjas no it's not ! But it will have your back on a dispensary shop mission on your bike heading home fighting off zombie crackheads yes it will ! And remember warriors keep your blades sharp and ready keep your arms lock and ready it's a safe world out there's and may the force be with you all !

helikon tex possum all the way☝🏾
i just dislike how these packs in general have a too short belt.
all the way up on my chest...
who makes that jacket ur wearing?
Was wondering the same thing.
nice pack. But, Vertx has the new SOCP Tactical Fanny Pack. It has a lot to offer. But this is one is also very nice. I'm debating which one to buy.
Great information on the fanny pack. What is the fleece jacket you area wearing? I would like to get one.
It’s from Pentegon and available at Military1st.

Hey first time watcher on your channel. Great review. What jacket are you wearing in that video?
Welcome. That jacket is from Pentagon and I picked it up at Military 1st.

.... "ROCK IT.... ROCK IT.... ROCK IT...."
Does this have Velcro inside?
Do you think this can be modded to be a chest pack as well or would it be awkward?
What type of jacket are you wearing?
I was wearing a sling bag once and a street bum yelled out asking to borrow my gun. To him carrying a sling bag meant you have a gun in it. :-(
The multicam black is made out of 500D cordura
Can it fit my fire he ten?
LOL. I feel the same as you with men wearing fanny packs. Something's just not right with that almost the same as men wearing sandals with no socks LOL.
Seems neat but I don't think I would be able to carry enough stuff for my tastes also i don't use the maxpedition fanny pack i already have.

I haven’t checked them out but thanks for letting me know. Have a great day!
I like it but the strap needs to long enough to let hang a little lower 4 me anyway
what if your at gun point and somebody demands your bag

Why is it always that anything camo costs more?BS
The multicam is cordura instead of the poly blend
And I think multicam is copyrighted so you pay a premium so the manufacturer to pay their dues.
