I have a question my 91 fifth ave had a dead digital cluster I found one from a 1990 New Yorker all gauges work except the speedometer and odometer they light up but don’t move or register miles I’m getting a signal from the trans input and output sensors. Any suggestions would be awesome thanks, Mark
Depends on the cluster. CCD bus clusters will light up, but not show voltage, fuel, temp, oil pressure, or odometer. Other clusters will show low temp, low oil pressure, low fuel, whatever voltage is being applied, and whatever the odometer reading is in the memory chip.
What do you do if your transmission works perfectly and you changed both input and output speed sensors but your speedometer doesn’t register correctly?
That is so odd how the voltage gauge wouldn't work! I suppose it reads the voltage supplied by a data bus? I know the older ones like in our 86 NYer, as well as the EVA modules, simply measure their own input voltage.
The 89 - 93 New Yorkers and 90 to 93 Imperials got all of their data from the CCD bus. 89 - 91 model years are interchangeable, and 92 - 93 are interchangeable. So if you put a 92 cluster in a 91 it won’t work, and vice versa.
Would a 91 cluster work in a 93? I have a 93 CNYFA and the speedometer will only display in kilometers. When I switch to MPH the display goes wonky. They are backlight LCD and I'm told the heat from the backlights ruins the cluster over time.
Mike Erickson Unfortunately it will not. In 1992 Chrysler changed to a new CCD bus, and the 91 cluster will not work properly. Nothing will blow up, but more than likely you won’t have a speedometer or voltage gauge. Others may not work, either. You’ll need the cluster out of a 1992-1993 Fifth Avenue or Imperial. If you’re dead set on making it work it could be done, but you’d have to replace all of the computer modules, sensors, and swap out the transmission for a 90 - 91 transmission at a minimum.
For the most part, yes. However it helps if you have the factory service manual because it will tell you which wire do what on for both analog and digital clusters.
I'm currently looking for a repair service for the cluster to my 1991 Chrysler Imperial. If you still have the information of where you got it repaired, I would appreciate it.
That's a cool gauge cluster. A buddy of mine had a Dynasty however the "Y" on the emblem fell off one day so ever since we just called it the D-Nasty!

The instrument cluster 7-segment figures aren’t doing the startup rolling effect.
That’s because the cluster came out of an 89 New Yorker. The rolling effect didn’t start until the ‘90 model year.
Thanks for this! Just picked up a '91 5th Ave and the panel is dark. Now I know what to look for at the lot!
Great information thank you for this !
What do these clusters to if you just apply power to them without hooking anything else up?
Depends on the cluster. CCD bus clusters will light up, but not show voltage, fuel, temp, oil pressure, or odometer. Other clusters will show low temp, low oil pressure, low fuel, whatever voltage is being applied, and whatever the odometer reading is in the memory chip.
@@LAEXMA Im looking at a car with dead cluster and evic. They claim its the bcm which I dont believe.
A dead/missing BCM will cause the EVIC not to light up, but the cluster should still light up.

Hello do you know anyone who has put a full mark cross interior into a new yorker salon ?

@@LAEXMA good info, thanks!
Where did you get that gauge cluster from
tristan jones, I just grabbed it out of a junk yard car. Cost me like $20.
Will this work in a 1990 New Yorker? Thanks
Yes, it would.
Can you put a 93 digital dash in a 1990 Imperial. My digital dash quit working
A 93's won't work. You can use the digital dash from any '89 - '91 New Yorker or Imperial.

so when you re wire the back of the cluster you just match the wires color to color?
For the most part, yes. However it helps if you have the factory service manual because it will tell you which wire do what on for both analog and digital clusters.
i have a chrysler lebaron 1990 with the same cluster.
LOVE IT !
can you show how to remove? also do you know how to pull the grill?? my lights staying mid-open i guess it could be the motor?
I’ll try to make a video on how to remove it. It’s not easy to do holding the camera. Yes, the electric motor is probably failing.
@@LAEXMA thanks for the reply
What about the gear indicator...car is in park
I got a friend of mine looking for one where can I told him to get one out
JUST HAD MINE REPAIRED BECAUSE READINGS WERE NOT CORRECT AND VRY DIM.
