Thanks for a great tour around a lovely place it gives a real feeling of how it may of once been.
And be good for you to do an overnight stay video in one of these places if possible
No problem, and it will happen eventually...
I was at this place during the summer looking forward to going back
The beauty still remains but , the hurt of the abandoned situation is still unclear. Wish it could be solved.
See my other reply. . There was no hurt. The school etc was simply no longer needed so they left it. When state education came in. I am in Ireland and we see this in every town . Large empty schools with chapels. Empty and left to rot. The nuns went to one of their other convents.
@@islanddweller3674 thank you for the info. God bless 😇 you and the rest of the Nuns.
Think the chapel the the highlight for me as the rest of the school was dark due to the boarding
How sad. Such a beautiful building.
There are 10’s (if not hundreds) of former religious buildings in Ireland, that have been abandoned in the last 25 years.
If they’re not within the limits of Dublin or Cork, then they stand no chance of being saved.
I got to explore one of the exceptions, Ballyfin (a stately home turned Christian Br school) before it was thankfully saved and completely restored into a millionaires resort, about 10 years ago. It would have been an Urbex-ers wet dream, if it was still in disrepair today.
The design of that chapel is so cool. Awesome video, I subscribed! I make abandoned videos too
Cheers pal!
Thank you for sharing - the main staircase was a lovely space and there were some nice details in this building.
There’s been some terrible stories of stuff happening in the Catholic Church in Ireland, I think it contributes to the people leaving the religion and the subsequent general decline of these buildings.
It would be great if you could get your hands on one of the VR 180 cameras to film with.
“Nightscape” was loaned one to use (...but he has more followers...!)
A lot of lovely details in the convent, your welcome :) we will hopefully do something like that in the future but as of when I’m unsure
Love the design of the abandoned chapel on the inside cuz , mostly there all antiques and cost a lot of money that, intruders must have gotten what they wanted and sold them. Couldn't that be true?
Potentially they might’ve done, in terms of the pews and any other religious pieces. The remaining design is still extraordinary
THE HISTORY OF THIS PLACE HAS BEEN WELL SWEPT UNDER THE CARPET
As Irishman knows the hurt the church did to this country but a country with out faith has no soul like were living now. No communities, fear, darkness in music, movies, tv programmes, adds, books, 24hr news 24 horror. We lost our compassion don't look out for 1 another. Sexualized sleeping around no commitment many many homes with no fathers. So sad were we are today consumed by everything else faith gets lost or disappears. 👍🇮🇪☘Godbless 🙏
Are you sure this was a school, I dont recall seeing any of these numerous classrooms you mention. Maybe I blinked and missed them.
Yes it is a school, just a one that’s quite old. Although I don’t think they recorded many of the classrooms. More footage was of the corridors or chapel.
The blackboards on the walls in the small rooms, and the kitchens were where food tech class would take place :)
Fred Jones It was a school for many years run by the Sisters of Mercy.
Beautiful scenery of the abandoned Chapel . But , WHY ?
Who knows :/
Mary Rosary A Wood Convents close. They are usually huge buildings and they are just left to deteriorate.
The Catholic church is in decline in Ireland, there are fewer and fewer men and women joining the religious orders, especiallygiven the scandalsaround them that are still coming to light. Therefore the religious orders do not have the members to run such schools,& they either close or the school passes to secular control. The chances of this chapel being saved are slim to zero.
@@patm8622 am very sorry to hear that. I am a Catholic myself and, it hurts me to know the declined or people that declined this.
Someday, they'll realize how much they need GOD AND THE CHURCH. God bless 😇 you Sir.
Good ole ireland
Gem of a country
Many folk do not realise that schools and hospitals were set up by the church and religious orders as they were the only people with the education and ability to do so. When they had set them up and they were running well, then they handed over to the usual authorities. So it was not a sign of religious decline but of a country being more able to run schools and hospitals thanks to the church. I am in Ireland and this was the case always. Without the Orders there would have been no education or health care here . So it is not a sign of religious decline that these places are abandoned, simply of progress in a society/country. Also, remember that in those days the only folk who were educated were the priests and nuns! And they gave of that skill generously and caringly. Then relinquished it to the society they had helped create.
my old school :(
where is this?
Somebody needs to salvage the good leftovers out of that place before it’s to late.
Nice video. Catholic architecture is not a thing and makes no sense! It would be better for your channel to not always have an overdub but some real live commentary, dont be afraid to show faces! Really good channel very impressed with content , however be yourselves, show the journey more, blog more and keep up the good work. Amazing
