Today has the turn of ex-JWs to give their side of the story. Monica and Eydis call in from Oslo with an update on today's court proceedings. For captions please see • Video
Thank you. Bear with us as we iron out the technical challenges. We're broadcasting from Norway on a phone via a cellular connection intended for the USA, through the studio in Australia, and back out LIVE via OBS. The quality isn't going to be as good as a studio show, but we hope you're finding it okay :)
We avoid the term "cult", although we understand why you would identify Jehovah's Witnesses as being one. "Cult" can convey different things to different people, which don't always apply to Jehovah's Witnesses. Instead, we use the term "high-control group" which describes exactly what the organisation is. Thank you for your visit to the channel and for taking to the time to comment. We appreciate it very much.
Thank you. I can see this totally back firing on the Watchtower. JW's, talk to your disfellowshiped family and friends. If elders reprimand you, point them to this court case. The Watchtower can't have it both ways.
That's an interestesting observation. We wonder how many JWs that attended the court will see the discrepancy between what they've been told to believe, and what they're hearing as a "defence" in court.
I am just wondering, how can the witnesses, who testify, have a clear concience and lay their head down at night, knowing that you did not tell the truth under oath. Really it would kill me to know i wasn't honest. How can you live with that and you had your hand on the bible swearing you would tell the truth.
They don't think of it as lying. It's spiritual warfare. They feel they are lying for God and the courts don't deserve the truth if they are trying to persecute God's people. If they ever wake up . . . that's when the things they've said in court will keep them up at night.
This is true, but I always felt like I was just bending the truth or protecting the reputation of the org. Some of the things said in this trial are outright lies, completely opposite to the truth. Someone must be uncomfortable with what they're saying.
Thank you for your support, whereever you are. If you've not already done so, and you feel able, please take the survey at stopmandatedshunning.org/survey. The data will be used in conjunction with our new Roehampton Research Project, to accumulate qualatitive and quantative data on the prevalence and effect of mandated shunning by control groups-not just Jehovah's Witnesses, but other groups too.
Although the money is important to the Governing Body, I think the fact is that if they lose, then as a business they would be obliged to open their accounts to scrutiny.
Thank you all for your courage to stand up against this oppressive organization!!! Thank you from all our heart ❤️ I’m being shunned for leaving the organization, although I’m not disfellowshipped. But my adult daughter and I “woke up” at the same time and left with me, so I’m not alone 😊
@madamecurious it's just my adult daughter, her husband and their 2 yr old daughter whom I've not met who are shunning me. Thankfully my son woke up 1 yr ago, and I have him back.
The problem is that if they change the law, the law itself will not uphold human rights given that Norway knows that some religions infringe the rights of members.
You're right... having a law and enforcing it are two different things entirely. However, at this stage it's not about changing the law. The law the government currently has is fine as it is. It is the basis for their refusal to grant state funding and registration to Jehovah's Witnesses. The JWs are in contravention of that law, but still want their money, hence why they are appealing. All Norway has to do is stick to their guns (and their current law) and reject their appeal. The original decision was correct. Since then, Watch Tower has made a few minor changes to their disfellowshipping policy, mostly semantics, but they still practice mandated shunning, including that of minors. Even if Watch Tower had completely overhauled their shunning policy, the appeal hearing is not for hearing new information. They have been very clear about that. The appeal hearing is to determine whether the original court made the right decision, based on how Jehovah's Witnesses were conducting themselves at the time. What should happen, if things are handled correctly, is the appeal court will uphold the ruling to deny state funding and registration. It will then be up to Jehovah's Witnesses to either comply with the law as it stands, or take matters further (eg. the European Court of Human Rights). It's possible that they actually want to lose this round, in order to be heard on a bigger stage.
Thank you for doing this for us all❤❤❤
You're welcome. Thank you for supporting the channel. More updates coming soon!

WOW!! It's great to be an ex witness👍
Yes, it is :)
Never stop exposing this evil! Have multiple friends who took their lives.
We are sorry to hear that. Several of our team members have also lost loved ones to suicide. Please accept our condolences 🙏
Thank you for your honesty and hard work your doing to help people wake up from this poisonous distractive Cult 😢😢

We were thinking the same thing!
Exactly, and we know because we used to do the same thing (theocratic warfare) as instructed by Watch Tower.

Thou should not bear false Jehovah's witness
I wish I was there. From Australia 😊

The watch tower Cult ruined my family 😢😢😢
Sadly, we hear this so often 😢

Who knows? Anything is possible with a high-control group.
I am being shunned cause I chose to leave the high control WT cult and attend another Christian denomination. I'm from NZ.
Thank you all for your courage to stand up against this oppressive organization!!!

Welcome to the channel. You should be allow to leave freely and not face these consequences. This is a sign that JW is a high-control group.

@, I’m so happy for you, that your son is out also and hope your daughter will wake up too in time. Sending a hug to you from Florida, USA 🌴

If shunning is as fluid as they lied about, why not also show the same situation but with normal family interaction?
Brilliant observation!
Can you enable captions for this video? That’d be really helpful for non-English speakers like me. Even English captions would be useful. Thanks!
