Thats exactly what happened to me, reached Diamond for the first time last split after like 2 weeks of hard grinding all days, and now Im in emerald 3 with 50% wr. I just feel like the matchmaking is horrible, half of the games Im losing is unplayable, someone on my team hard ints all game and does the imposible to lose the game. So frustrating split.

Always appreciate the quality content and grounded mindset Curtis, one of my bigger struggles is speaking with friends who just want to blame balance or teammates rather than examining their own gameplay a lot seem to more enjoy raging about things out of their control more than focussing on their own inconsistencies in their own play i.e. being coinflippy and then just lashing out at teammates when them solo rnging the entire game goes poorly. That being said admittedly with what a class system the league community imposes on it's self with the constantly shifting goalpost of "if you aren't X rank you aren't human" besides being demeaning I myself haven't been able to shake out of the habit of calling myself an X peak player, and constantly saying oh my current rank isn't my actual rank and I know it's something I myself have to work at to earn that rank again, because the more I say I belong at my peak the more I know I keep myself from being there.
I can definitely understand where your friends are coming from. I believe now more then ever, it's incredibly important to REALLY wrap your head around the importance of a process. League is getting HARDER and HARDER, the competition is fiercer, their is an abundance of educational content/coaching so the player base is evolving, Riot is updating/altering the game VERY frequently, this is not even including the adjustments made to the ranked system. It almost feels like for years people were able to get away with casually playing solo queue and a lack of a process/approach to learning, but nowadays the average player simply won't be able to mentally handle the solo queue experience without one.
Excellent video curtis honestly this is all stuff we needed to hear right now. This split has certainly been a wake up call. I ended masters 100 lp last split and was definitely starting to feel proud of the level I was playing at, but suddenly getting thrown in against 1000 lp players in mid diamond, getting stomped in lane has been rough on my mental. Even got put against Pobelter. Trying to keep my mental straight and keep the focus on learning. Your video made me feel a lot more at ease about the state of things, thank you!
What really annoys me with this change is that I dropped from gold to low silver and sadly had a very unfortunate streak of unwinnable games during and after my placements where I went on a pretty big lose streak, so while I've finally managed to stabilize my win rate I'm now genuinely playing games with people who in previous seasons never went above bronze or low silver. And I can absolutely tell, because if I'm actually matched mid lane I completely wreck the matchup. It's not fun because I feel I'm genuinely not really challenged in lane fundamentals, nor is it fun for my opponent since I'm so much better than they are. And I find it really weird I'm playing with these people because I also don't understand where else they're supposed to go in the ranked system, because if I as a high gold player is placed in low silver, are these bronze and silver now supposed to be low bronze and iron? I'm confident in that if I just fix my win rate I can get back into gold but it just doesn't feel very fair nor is it very fun to play with people who I can tell are way below my own skill level. It also leads to very frustrating games because the matchmaking is extremely uneven in general, so you can have people who were gold and platinum last season and they're just so much better than your bronze jungler who has been bronze last season. I'm sure it will improve over time but ranked is just so chaotic right now and it just isn't fun. What's even more frustrating is that I just managed to hit the sweet spot for my actual skill level where I finally felt like I had to really focus on doing my best each game to just have all my progress wiped due to the reset. They could at least have waited until the preseason.
I had a similar experience. I'm bad at the game and am trying to get consistently into gold. Usually place mid/high silver. This split I won most of my placements and got placed into low bronze 1. I feel like I'm playing better than ever, but hit a loss streak after placements (coming off a brutal loss streak last split). As a result I'll likely stop with ranked. This doesn't feel fun and I play to have fun
High plat player here. This split I'm stuck in silver 3 right now and have like a 20% winrate. I'm having the same experience. There are no fundamentals around me, and the games don't feel as competitive as they used to.
@@HamsterPants522 yeah its been rough... My bot came top and forced me mid after feeding lane and lost their tower and mine in the process in my last game and my jungler muted all including pings so he didnt see a 1 hp player hitting tower for plates right next to him

For me the game is just the game, and this is a reminder to not attach too hard to results and rank, wins and losses, but instead remain focused entirely on the gameplay.
At reset I was 2 games from emerald with a 53% win rate, I don’t have the time to improve hugely so if I have to grind out 200 games in low plat in order to get where I was before I’ll probably just choose to not play
Im literally Jim Bob :D Finished diamond 4 last season, currently in emerald 4 with a negative win rate. Granted, I've been trying new champions so I would probably be a bit higher with my main champ but im just figuring things out, having a crack. At first I was a bit confused and therefore frustrated about it, but checking the tier stats on opgg made things clearer. Emerald 4 currently is top 8% on EUW, which I believe was like emerald 2 last split. So taking into consideration me practicing new champs + new rank distribution + early split chaos, my rank actually makes perfect sense. And I'm not too worried about it. Things will balance out eventually, all I can do is play my 3-blocks, review my games and try to improve. Thanks for making this vid Curtis. I think many people are confused about the changes, and it doesn't help when they see people like Agurin struggling in low masters when he literally finished rank 1+2 last split. Definitely agree that riot could have communicated these changes better. Or maybe rather made them next season, instead of awkwardly during a season between splits.
Curtis, I appreciate this video so deeply! I did feel like it was weird how I peaked D1 and now I have to grind to even hit E2. Thankfully I tend to be tilt-proof and although it still feels like a slap in the face, I can only imagine what it's like for those who don't have the healthiest attachment to the rank ladder. I agree that Riot should have managed our expectations better for this split, given how passionate people are.
I reached Plat for the first time, then all of a sudden got placed to bronze. Reached hold 4 after 40+ games, then got into 11 lose streak. Just felt like everyone got significantly better out of nowhere, and my confidence plummeted. Stuck in silver 3. Wanting plat again but can’t even reach gold is so distressing. Depressing.
Thanks for making this, I was one of the people who had a great end to split 2 and reached a new peak rank and now feeling like I’m playing just as well or better but stuck 400 lp below where I left off. Like you said it does feel like the matchmaking is stabilizing a bit the last couple days and games are starting to feel a bit more under control
Thankfully my split's been the polar opposite! I've had a super start to the season. Finished Plat IV last split, and because my MMR was terrible, it placed me in Silver III at the start of this split. I've been hard at work and played well though, so over two weeks with a 65% winrate, I'm back to Platinum IV already! So thankful, this kind of rankup has been such a colossal grind in years past, I often get so stuck. Seeting my sights on Emerald and beyond this split! Good luck everyone, and remember to have some fun and spam some dance emotes in your games every now and then, it does wonders for your mood and mental clarity, I promise 😅
I totaly agree and thank you for this video. Honestly I thought I was just going crazy ... ended up in Emerald 2 in split 2... after the reset I got placed in Plat 2.. now all the way back down to plat 4 ... and the games first of all feel so much harder to play .. and second absolutly rank gapped.. like previous seasons golds somehow squeezed in plat 4 while enemy team is running with diamonds from split2 ... I seriously thought somehow I got shit in 2 weeks after the reset even tho I am not doing much worse then in split 2.... so thank you for explaining what had actually happend .. helped to just mind reset and get to the grind.
I was 3 games away diamond (my dream rank since the start) but failed to get there last minute. I was then put in p4 and lost all my placement games which sent me into a hyper focus on winning and "getting back what I had" so I kept tilt queuing despite efforts to stop myself. I then decided to take a week off which really helped me detach myself from my glorious 900lp drop and get back on my feet. I'm happy to say I managed to get a decent wr since coming back but more importantly I did not tilt even after loosing the first 2 games proceeding my break which is what i'm most proud of. Seeing this video also relieved a bit of pain knowing I'm not the only one struggling right now.
I havent had a chance to play this season and just played my placement games over the last couple days. Thought it was weird i went from emerald to gold 2 but thought it was no biggie and I’d climb back no problem. Its good to have seen this so I know to taper my expectations
I did notice this over my last 30ish games, as a top lane player. SOOO many games have people dying left and right, non stop for the first 10-15 minutes. A lot of time it just comes down to playing with your jungler, cause if you try to solo-carry it'll end up in either the 4 dudes in your team smurfing and winning without you, OR they get stomped and you lose before you even get the chance to play.
So true there is no clear communication. I could tell there was something unique about this split compared to the other two. I only knew about this hard MMR reset until this video
Good video and I think a lot of people needed this. Only critique is that winrate across all players is zero sum. Yes, everyone's rank started lower and this has a mental effect. Yes, LP gains are lower so it feels slower to climb, which also has a mental effect. But for every player that is 10-20 there should be a player who is 20-10. For every player that is crippled by a terrible winrate, there should be a player who is over the moon with their positive winrate.
I came back the last few weeks of the previous split after a 3 year break and climbed up to high plat / low emerald mmr before the reset… had pretty awful placements and now I’m stuck in Gold with the 45% winrate. I’ve written off climbing this split and am going to just focus on improving as much as possible to hit diamond next season.
really appreciate this video. i was emerald 2 last split and now i am struggling in gold 4, and this video really opened my eyes to whats going on and letting go of my rank. still a big stage 4 issue i struggle with, but ignoring current rank or past rank is such a big piece of advice anyone can follow.
Dude, I'm in the same boat. Reached mid Emerald 3 beginning of the year, stopped playing ranked for a few months because life happens and now I've got a 50% win rate in gold 3. Remember in previous years when your rank didn't reset until the next year? Those were the days. Hope you can get back to the rank you want
My win rate this split is amazing so far. I’ve also already surpassed my previous LP-peak. The changes that increase survivability really seem to fit my play style.
I have noticed toxicity going way up, largely due to the fact that one or more roles have a large skill gap. This makes it very easy to blame teammates when there's often a 50 cs or more gap between a player and their opponent. Riot has injected way too much chaos into the game.
I respect the idea, I wish I would have known because I would have not instantly started queueing on my main. It is insane some of the lobbies you find currently, especially the skill discrepancies. Currently stuck in emerald, pray for me lads.
As a high gold / low plat player who is stuck on silver right now; this was very helpful to hear. Do you have any advice on how… when being placed in these fundamentally lower ranks, how to not let the ELO and other players worsen your gameplay or decision making? I very often find myself knowing what I should be doing in my games but having to accommodate for the chaos and make decisions that aren’t fundamentally right to salvage plays

I got placed emerald 4 same situation but this was second season end d4 and said hell no and I will only be on Smurf accounts now I hope riot likes the fact that low elo has become two dia+ smurfs in a 1v1 instead of the actual game because no one wants to ruin their main taking away the ability for low elo to learn or have fun and I'm apart of the problem but they caused it so you get what you get and from what I can see they want a toxic playerbase
I havent noticed this yet, but I think thats largely been becauseI had this issue last split. I finished Plat IV in split 1, but struggled to stay mid to high Gold in split 2. I was hovering between Gold IV and Silver I. Now Im Silver I with a 70% winrate almost Gold IV again. I've mostly attributed it the meta , I struggled in the AP jungle + AD mid compared to more traditional control/burst mages mid with fighters/tanks in the jungle. Maybe I'm just lucky but maybe its that I'm finally accepting and learning to not anchor to a rank and instead focus on just playing high quality and good games. I couldnt figure out how I was seemingly playing the same between split 1 and 2 but had such a variance in rank.
Honestly I like the clearing of the apex tiers. I am nowhere near that but I think it’s good in the sense that it’s more competitive. In my opinion, the issue at the moment is the 3 splits being too many. I don’t feel it’s enough time to climb for people with busy lives. I played almost none of split 2 and thus I have effectively fallen 2 full ranks from where I ended split 1 to now in split 3. I shouldn’t be this low, it’s simply not fair for the lobbies I am in on average. I started the split mucking about to find out the meta picking any champ and playing fill. Now that I have started playing seriously and having some time over the weekend, I am 15/1 in my proper climb. I get riot needing to do ranked resets, but in lower elo’s and for players that can’t play tens of games per week, it’s not viable.
I was Diamind 2 last Split and were demoted to emerald 1 because of inactivity before the season ended. In Split 1 I even reached Master. Now after my first ranked games I was placed Emerald 3 which I thought is okay and I will get out easily. I was so wrong! I am now playing with Emerald and Platin Players which actually is so weird if you are used to playing with players from higher elo and makes it really hard to climb. Not saying that it's all my teammates fault - thats why I'm "only" diamond and not challenger - but the fact that it is even harder to get out of this elo now makes it so frustrating and I am actually not sure if I want to spend so much time climbing back to diamond. And I think it's not only me. I also play against a few former diamond players from last season who are in the same situation as I am. I also have the feeling everyone is getting extremly frustrated and tilted now. Every game someone starts flaming or inting and gets toxic. This is normal behaivior in Emerald but not every game... Just makes it even more anoying and frustrating...
I was both under and now above 50% w/r but I only have 34 games done. I finally got back to Emerald but Platinum was extremely horrible to go through. I mean it's not a valid sample-size but so far Emerald games have been so much easier suddenly lol. However that could be a mental thing where I was "despairge"ing in Platinum, but now in Emerald I'm relaxed and comfortable because it's my current ranked "home" (I need to get rid of that though). I will say my mental is the worst it's ever been this split for whatever reason. I've both blamed my teammates and myself the entire way 💀. My tilt-hate was rated E for everyone including myself. But honestly the main issue was my own struggle getting acclimated to Assassins rn, especially Zed. Overall power decreased, powerspikes shifted, item priorities shifted, and I've been playing sub-optimally the whole time because of it. I really hate that uncomfortable feeling of struggling and not understanding why I'm doing bad/what I could even do to win the game. I definitely am seeing a lot of people struggle to get back as fast as usual though. edit: I ended Emerald 3 last split with 50 games played.
The consequences this had on the lower 75% of the ranked population is horrendous. Sub-emerald ranks were already having a huge problem of having so many players compressed in such a small MMR interval that any hope of having an actually balanced lobby was utopia. With the harder MMR reset now the playing field down here got so hardly leveled that the matchmaking is absolutely incapacitated to find any semblance of balanced teams. Matches are more often than not a complete coinflip stomp with one side of the lobby achieving an almost "granted by matchmaking" win in sub 15 minutes. In the long run this is statistically non-influent on your journey (coinflips are by definition 50/50, so you will autolose as many games as you will autowin and your rank will be completely determined by your ability to win the ones that are actually somewhat balanced), but this happens so frequently that it ends up completely wasting most of your playtime and throwing your mental in the garbage bin. At the end of the day most of us play to have fun, and low quality lobbies are 0 fun even if by random chance (and that's the whole point) you end up on the winning side. I'm a somewhat casual player with a full-time job. I don't want to reach crazy ranks or go pro... I would like to have a couple hours a day of fun alone or with friends in a competitive environment. But right now I struggle to remember the last time I had a game in which my input was is any way decisive for the end result.
I kept getting people straight running it in top lane and ended up straight losing games. Other games every lane just steamrolled the enemy lanes and we won in 20 minutes. There's just been no inbetween. Diamond 3, now struggling to escape plat lmao
I was low master tier and lost 10 games in a row, playing well, being the ace of my team most of the games. There was just too much player disparity and tilted people. I was being queued with high challengers more often than not. I just stop playing ranked for a while and I am at 34% win rate with about 20 games, on diamond IV.
Yeah this split has made me seriously question playing this game. Currently playing 2 tiers lower than where I ended, with a negative LP gains & 53% wr all because I had a big loss streak in my first 30 games, where I actually played as well as I would expect myself to play. Essentially killing my account this split. Ofc the ''fix the account'' part. But man what the fuck is the point, I've proven seasons after season to be above this rank by 2 tiers at least. It's just miserable... My champ pool is now all sitting at close to 60% cause the games are ''easy'' minus all the coin flips unfair matchmaking game that are not organic due to everyone being all over the place - I'm being called out every other game for being a master 2 splits ago d2 last split playing in low emerald with neg lp gains.... It feels like a waste of time. And it is one. They even fucked all the LP gains when they added emerald.. and now this. I miss the old days and the consistency we had. I hate how the game is managed now and all the tests they do every split, with 1 split 2 split 3 split, new rank, new this, new that. Man FCK OFF... It's removing all the arguments I've ever used against every other games rank system. Riot used to be the shit, now it's a piece of shit just like all the other seasonal games where ranks are so meaningless. League always was the best game with it's rank system consistency. Now it just looks like Apex, where 1 seasons you're platinum and the next you're master like 50% of the player base. What a shame... Been mad at this game ever since they added emerald and what it did to the rank system...
I finished 2023 split 2 in Plat4 (Senna only), 2024 split 1 in Plat4 (Diana jungle only), split 2 in plat 4 (Ryze mid only), all that solo (I duoed a bit in 2023, but the W/L was equal, so I stopped and focused purely on my own performance). I had cca 60-70% WR but had no time to spam more games. Split 3 came with placements, whete my Split 2 Gold/Silver teamates faced Split 2 Emeralds and in two games even Diamonds. I lost 4 placements like that, got placed is Silver 2. Today, my Split 2 Gold toplaner was facing Split 2 Emerald 2 player to whom he lost T3 turret in 11min ... I browsed my recent games and my teammatws winrate is somwhete at 26-40% ... literally, wtf is that. I do not mind getting outplayer by a better player, but I mind it when one team has Gold/Silvet or even Bronze players, whilr the enemy team has 2-3 past Diamond/Emeral plaeyers.
In my experience, I actually haven’t felt the same ranked experiences as a lot of others have. I ended last split as Diamond 3 and after my placements, i placed Emerald 4. Right now i am diamond 3 with an absurd win rate, like 65%. To my experience, i have felt like there have been more trolls and people giving up then ever before. I would solo kill or win 1 team fight and the enemy mid would just perma rage roam or follow their jungler around all game. And some of these players were previous master players. Sounds embarrassing LOL. And i personally think my champ, Katarina, was nerfed. Yes the ap burst build is still very good, but not every game can you build burst. I preferred the nashers tooth with conquer build but that build does no damage anymore. Idk just sharing my experience. Storm surge and lich bane feel good tho this split when the enemy team is all squishy. Just sharing my experiences :)
Amazing video. I have been struggling this split really hard with 37% in E4. I am not blaming the system or anything but it defiantly felt harder to claim the ladder. I played a game where the other sup was master S2023 S1, even tho my peek in my main is d4 that year. and I think it's an opportunity that I be ready and working on my self till the system get fix. Also I don't care about the WR I peek masters with 40% year ago and every game my teammates they will type " gg 40% ff 15 " 🤣🤣
I don't even blame riot, I turn to myself but this split I lost all confidence from negative winrates and low rank which has never happened to me ever. 😢
I think the three split idea is horrible for psychological toll on the player base. When it was one, even two a year - We would lose ~400LP and then be expected to climb back up. I'm an active player, its fine. The issue is three times a year now (ONCE EVERY FOUR MONTHS) you lose HUNDREDS of LP to try and climb back up for...and this split I fell from E4 to G3 with a positive WR. Nooo shot I'm putting that many hours in. They totally should have done this reset in the beginning of next year. This was too early.
Something that I have always wondered. Ive played league for years. When I was actively trying I managed to climb to Plat 2. Since then I have not been able to get plat again despite the fact that stat for stat I def play alot better than I used to. Obviously this is dude to the average player skill going up. What it meant to be plat several years ago is not the same as now. With that being said though I often find myself wondering if rather than facing a traditional climb, if im dealing with a system that deems me to be a certain elo because I havent ranked seriously in several seasons. Several seasons of casual play has me finishing splits as Silver-Gold. I wonder, if I was on a fresh account, and say compared results over 20 games. I sincerely wonder if the system would place me higher than if I had started the split on my main (which the system already sees as a silver/gold account) This isnt an excuse for being low elo. I am simply saying that if it is possible, that the system sees a person who regularly ends in masters, as a master tier player, so much so that it would put them there even with a neg win rate. Is it really so hard to believe the inverse is true? The system sees you as a silver gold, and even when you start winning the system doesnt promote you as quickly (mmr wise) because its wanting you to prove its not a fluke.
Im finding it extremely hard to believe it was easier to climb in the previous few seasons, I have the max or higher end penalty for my losses even if i've been on a win streak, wins i'd gain 20-23 lp where as my losses would be 27-30lp regardless if I played good or struggled a bit was on positive win rate, roughly 60-65% win rate until I finally climbed out into bronze, and now my quality of games have plummeted and sadly after a string of losses despite being on a 6-7 win streak previously the pendulum has swung harder the opposite way and I'm again for the 3rd season in a row stuck in Elo hell, its infuriating cause I feel like im the only player on the team that tries, everyone else is only here to troll and ruin the games for everyone else, whether its by diving constantly into their lane killing themselves repeatedly before lane phase has even reached 10-15 minutes or they've had a volcanic meltdown in the chat, I'm expected to 1v9 every game and its exhausting, after a while it becomes very tilting and every game afterwards is only harder than the last.
btw: many high elo players are suspecting that augurin is soft inting atm because the struggle garners him more views actually^^. Other then that I personally truly dislike the 3 splits. It results in pretty much 50% of the year being unplayayble in soloq because you have these HUGE skill differences for the first 2 months. I just think its toxic. THere should be AT MOST 2 splits
I think the harder MMR resets took only place in the apex tiers. Was last season master and now im currently in emerald 1. Due to the harder MMR reset affected the apex tiers they seem to be overlapping now with the lower ranks below apex. So my lobbys are a mixture of Last season emerald 2 - Master 100 LP players which makes the games really stompy and weird in a way. When I hit masters last season the games were way more homogeneous with a similar skill level and in general an enviroment that felt more competitive. Now I see people checking out mentally way more often than in the last split. Hopefully riot does something about it.
I swear they implemented it in the last week of the split just finished. I was playing the same, but for some reason my mmr just tanked even though I had positive winrates on all my champions. So screw riot. Im moving to toplane instead of mid.
Matchmaking feels like a complete coin toss and the games feel WAY less structured and people seem to have no idea in comparison to S2. Then there’s the entire problem with our ranks getting reset yet again in 3 months. What’s even the point if this is how it’s gonna be? I don’t even have the time to work towards a rank because in 3 months it gets reset and I have to go through this all again. Why couldn’t riot stick to 1 season per year, or at most 2 splits. 3 just feels impossible to keep up. Especially since the game quality isnso shit for the first 3-4 weeks, and then again at the end of the split the game quality dips for 3-4 weeks. So we really only have 8 weeks of quality games to try climb while having fun in.
I played the last two seasons on auto-pilot and I got emerald 3-4 I’m trying harder than I’ve ever played league before, and I can only get gold 1-2 hahah I play the game for fun at the end of the day, but it does surprise me how much harder I’m working this season and I can’t get out of gold lol
I think people should be less worried about their specific rank, and more focused on just playing against people of their same MMR. Just because that MMR range is represented by a different rank, doesn't mean people suddenly got better it worse overnight.
Ive weirdly had a good split 3. 2 was hell. So many people tilting off the face of the earth, trolling or ruining games on purpose. Split 3 hasnt been perfect but it has been ALOT less trolls in ranked, so split 3 has been fine for me thusfar.
I thought i was super shit so i gigga practiced and now im about to break 50% overall winrate in bronze with a 65~ win rate last 20 games in this season. Ive never been higher than silver and i just thought bronze players were insane. I watched my replays and looked ONLY at my enemy and learned like that.
Not sure where the struggle is at. I was D4 and rank reset im at E4 with 3W-2L. Last rank reset was the same. I know eventually I will be D4 again. prob will take 40 games if lucky, but tbh i think i will take 60 games to hit D4. Hardstuck D4 player for life, I accepted my fate.
tbh its kinda got back to where it was in season 8 and 7, were ranked was so much harder, also ith promos should be braught back, they were exciting and climbing to a rank you feel worthy
Managed to get to Plat 3 after playing for about 4 years. got placed Gold 4 after placements and can't seem to climb any further right now and I don't know how I'm playing any different.
At the beginning of season 14 Riot shifted gold and platinum players into low Emerald and high plat. Now it seems they have reversed that decision and want the old gold player back in gold. So it's likely you haven't suddenly gotten worse, but the MMR scale is just very different this split and your Emerald rank was artificially inflated by Riot's changes at the beginning of the year.
Im getting rinsed this split haha. Thought it was cause im getting older and have to work. So thought I was getting worse or people just getting better. Normally hit diamond 2/3 every split/season
Seen how agurin is strugling in EUW despite being one of the best performer in our region (often rank 1) i think riot may have change more things that the want to admit.
im a bit of an interesting case, i ended gold 4 and was able to reach gold 2 within about 30 games with an incredible win rate (aboout 85%) and maybe a bit of luck LOL. either way it seems that these MMR changes effect low ELO a bit less.
Its good that curtis at least acknowledges this. I jus hope curtis doesn't eat all the cope and gaslighting riot will do in the future They will say will roll back and then just roll back one hairs breadth then push foward nd gaslighting etc etc

Probably luck , better cleaned out playerbase from ppl that got cut from grandfathering into rank while playing worse then the rank they were in and your actual skill lvl improvement. I had same situation in my progress

So the matchmaking is putting me (in gold 3) against people who are Emerald Like, normally, whatever. In my previous Plat 2 games, half the people were low emerald, BUT NOW, my team is filled with _actual_ gold players. Not the enemies thooooo

Thats exactly what happened to me, reached Diamond for the first time last split after like 2 weeks of hard grinding all days, and now Im in emerald 3 with 50% wr. I just feel like the matchmaking is horrible, half of the games Im losing is unplayable, someone on my team hard ints all game and does the imposible to lose the game. So frustrating split.
It definitely is a bit rough... I think with the recent LP changes, it hopefully will be better

I lost 8 games in a row. Just stopped playing the champ ive mained for years and years and first timing OP champs. So sad.

Always appreciate the quality content and grounded mindset Curtis, one of my bigger struggles is speaking with friends who just want to blame balance or teammates rather than examining their own gameplay a lot seem to more enjoy raging about things out of their control more than focussing on their own inconsistencies in their own play i.e. being coinflippy and then just lashing out at teammates when them solo rnging the entire game goes poorly.
That being said admittedly with what a class system the league community imposes on it's self with the constantly shifting goalpost of "if you aren't X rank you aren't human" besides being demeaning I myself haven't been able to shake out of the habit of calling myself an X peak player, and constantly saying oh my current rank isn't my actual rank and I know it's something I myself have to work at to earn that rank again, because the more I say I belong at my peak the more I know I keep myself from being there.

I believe now more then ever, it's incredibly important to REALLY wrap your head around the importance of a process.
League is getting HARDER and HARDER, the competition is fiercer, their is an abundance of educational content/coaching so the player base is evolving, Riot is updating/altering the game VERY frequently, this is not even including the adjustments made to the ranked system.
It almost feels like for years people were able to get away with casually playing solo queue and a lack of a process/approach to learning, but nowadays the average player simply won't be able to mentally handle the solo queue experience without one.
Excellent video curtis honestly this is all stuff we needed to hear right now. This split has certainly been a wake up call. I ended masters 100 lp last split and was definitely starting to feel proud of the level I was playing at, but suddenly getting thrown in against 1000 lp players in mid diamond, getting stomped in lane has been rough on my mental. Even got put against Pobelter. Trying to keep my mental straight and keep the focus on learning. Your video made me feel a lot more at ease about the state of things, thank you!
What really annoys me with this change is that I dropped from gold to low silver and sadly had a very unfortunate streak of unwinnable games during and after my placements where I went on a pretty big lose streak, so while I've finally managed to stabilize my win rate I'm now genuinely playing games with people who in previous seasons never went above bronze or low silver. And I can absolutely tell, because if I'm actually matched mid lane I completely wreck the matchup. It's not fun because I feel I'm genuinely not really challenged in lane fundamentals, nor is it fun for my opponent since I'm so much better than they are.
And I find it really weird I'm playing with these people because I also don't understand where else they're supposed to go in the ranked system, because if I as a high gold player is placed in low silver, are these bronze and silver now supposed to be low bronze and iron?
I'm confident in that if I just fix my win rate I can get back into gold but it just doesn't feel very fair nor is it very fun to play with people who I can tell are way below my own skill level. It also leads to very frustrating games because the matchmaking is extremely uneven in general, so you can have people who were gold and platinum last season and they're just so much better than your bronze jungler who has been bronze last season. I'm sure it will improve over time but ranked is just so chaotic right now and it just isn't fun. What's even more frustrating is that I just managed to hit the sweet spot for my actual skill level where I finally felt like I had to really focus on doing my best each game to just have all my progress wiped due to the reset. They could at least have waited until the preseason.
this is my first season playing more than placements ive always placed mid bronze low silver i placed iron 3 yes we've been drop kicked to the nether
I had a similar experience. I'm bad at the game and am trying to get consistently into gold. Usually place mid/high silver. This split I won most of my placements and got placed into low bronze 1. I feel like I'm playing better than ever, but hit a loss streak after placements (coming off a brutal loss streak last split). As a result I'll likely stop with ranked. This doesn't feel fun and I play to have fun
High plat player here. This split I'm stuck in silver 3 right now and have like a 20% winrate. I'm having the same experience. There are no fundamentals around me, and the games don't feel as competitive as they used to.

For me the game is just the game, and this is a reminder to not attach too hard to results and rank, wins and losses, but instead remain focused entirely on the gameplay.
At reset I was 2 games from emerald with a 53% win rate, I don’t have the time to improve hugely so if I have to grind out 200 games in low plat in order to get where I was before I’ll probably just choose to not play

Finished diamond 4 last season, currently in emerald 4 with a negative win rate. Granted, I've been trying new champions so I would probably be a bit higher with my main champ but im just figuring things out, having a crack. At first I was a bit confused and therefore frustrated about it, but checking the tier stats on opgg made things clearer. Emerald 4 currently is top 8% on EUW, which I believe was like emerald 2 last split. So taking into consideration me practicing new champs + new rank distribution + early split chaos, my rank actually makes perfect sense.
And I'm not too worried about it. Things will balance out eventually, all I can do is play my 3-blocks, review my games and try to improve.
Thanks for making this vid Curtis. I think many people are confused about the changes, and it doesn't help when they see people like Agurin struggling in low masters when he literally finished rank 1+2 last split. Definitely agree that riot could have communicated these changes better. Or maybe rather made them next season, instead of awkwardly during a season between splits.
Curtis, I appreciate this video so deeply! I did feel like it was weird how I peaked D1 and now I have to grind to even hit E2.
Thankfully I tend to be tilt-proof and although it still feels like a slap in the face, I can only imagine what it's like for those who don't have the healthiest attachment to the rank ladder.

I reached Plat for the first time, then all of a sudden got placed to bronze. Reached hold 4 after 40+ games, then got into 11 lose streak. Just felt like everyone got significantly better out of nowhere, and my confidence plummeted. Stuck in silver 3. Wanting plat again but can’t even reach gold is so distressing. Depressing.
Thanks for making this, I was one of the people who had a great end to split 2 and reached a new peak rank and now feeling like I’m playing just as well or better but stuck 400 lp below where I left off. Like you said it does feel like the matchmaking is stabilizing a bit the last couple days and games are starting to feel a bit more under control

Thankfully my split's been the polar opposite! I've had a super start to the season. Finished Plat IV last split, and because my MMR was terrible, it placed me in Silver III at the start of this split.
I've been hard at work and played well though, so over two weeks with a 65% winrate, I'm back to Platinum IV already!
So thankful, this kind of rankup has been such a colossal grind in years past, I often get so stuck.

I totaly agree and thank you for this video. Honestly I thought I was just going crazy ... ended up in Emerald 2 in split 2... after the reset I got placed in Plat 2.. now all the way back down to plat 4 ... and the games first of all feel so much harder to play .. and second absolutly rank gapped.. like previous seasons golds somehow squeezed in plat 4 while enemy team is running with diamonds from split2 ... I seriously thought somehow I got shit in 2 weeks after the reset even tho I am not doing much worse then in split 2.... so thank you for explaining what had actually happend .. helped to just mind reset and get to the grind.
I was 3 games away diamond (my dream rank since the start) but failed to get there last minute. I was then put in p4 and lost all my placement games which sent me into a hyper focus on winning and "getting back what I had" so I kept tilt queuing despite efforts to stop myself. I then decided to take a week off which really helped me detach myself from my glorious 900lp drop and get back on my feet. I'm happy to say I managed to get a decent wr since coming back but more importantly I did not tilt even after loosing the first 2 games proceeding my break which is what i'm most proud of. Seeing this video also relieved a bit of pain knowing I'm not the only one struggling right now.
I havent had a chance to play this season and just played my placement games over the last couple days. Thought it was weird i went from emerald to gold 2 but thought it was no biggie and I’d climb back no problem. Its good to have seen this so I know to taper my expectations
I did notice this over my last 30ish games, as a top lane player.
SOOO many games have people dying left and right, non stop for the first 10-15 minutes. A lot of time it just comes down to playing with your jungler, cause if you try to solo-carry it'll end up in either the 4 dudes in your team smurfing and winning without you, OR they get stomped and you lose before you even get the chance to play.
So true there is no clear communication. I could tell there was something unique about this split compared to the other two. I only knew about this hard MMR reset until this video
Good video and I think a lot of people needed this. Only critique is that winrate across all players is zero sum. Yes, everyone's rank started lower and this has a mental effect. Yes, LP gains are lower so it feels slower to climb, which also has a mental effect. But for every player that is 10-20 there should be a player who is 20-10. For every player that is crippled by a terrible winrate, there should be a player who is over the moon with their positive winrate.

I came back the last few weeks of the previous split after a 3 year break and climbed up to high plat / low emerald mmr before the reset… had pretty awful placements and now I’m stuck in Gold with the 45% winrate. I’ve written off climbing this split and am going to just focus on improving as much as possible to hit diamond next season.

Dude, I'm in the same boat. Reached mid Emerald 3 beginning of the year, stopped playing ranked for a few months because life happens and now I've got a 50% win rate in gold 3. Remember in previous years when your rank didn't reset until the next year? Those were the days. Hope you can get back to the rank you want

My win rate this split is amazing so far. I’ve also already surpassed my previous LP-peak. The changes that increase survivability really seem to fit my play style.
I have noticed toxicity going way up, largely due to the fact that one or more roles have a large skill gap. This makes it very easy to blame teammates when there's often a 50 cs or more gap between a player and their opponent.
Riot has injected way too much chaos into the game.

Do you have any advice on how… when being placed in these fundamentally lower ranks, how to not let the ELO and other players worsen your gameplay or decision making? I got placed emerald 4 same situation but this was second season end d4 and said hell no and I will only be on Smurf accounts now I hope riot likes the fact that low elo has become two dia+ smurfs in a 1v1 instead of the actual game because no one wants to ruin their main taking away the ability for low elo to learn or have fun and I'm apart of the problem but they caused it so you get what you get and from what I can see they want a toxic playerbase

I havent noticed this yet, but I think thats largely been becauseI had this issue last split. I finished Plat IV in split 1, but struggled to stay mid to high Gold in split 2. I was hovering between Gold IV and Silver I. Now Im Silver I with a 70% winrate almost Gold IV again. I've mostly attributed it the meta , I struggled in the AP jungle + AD mid compared to more traditional control/burst mages mid with fighters/tanks in the jungle. Maybe I'm just lucky but maybe its that I'm finally accepting and learning to not anchor to a rank and instead focus on just playing high quality and good games. I couldnt figure out how I was seemingly playing the same between split 1 and 2 but had such a variance in rank.
Honestly I like the clearing of the apex tiers. I am nowhere near that but I think it’s good in the sense that it’s more competitive. In my opinion, the issue at the moment is the 3 splits being too many. I don’t feel it’s enough time to climb for people with busy lives. I played almost none of split 2 and thus I have effectively fallen 2 full ranks from where I ended split 1 to now in split 3.
I shouldn’t be this low, it’s simply not fair for the lobbies I am in on average. I started the split mucking about to find out the meta picking any champ and playing fill. Now that I have started playing seriously and having some time over the weekend, I am 15/1 in my proper climb.
I get riot needing to do ranked resets, but in lower elo’s and for players that can’t play tens of games per week, it’s not viable.

I was Diamind 2 last Split and were demoted to emerald 1 because of inactivity before the season ended. In Split 1 I even reached Master. Now after my first ranked games I was placed Emerald 3 which I thought is okay and I will get out easily. I was so wrong! I am now playing with Emerald and Platin Players which actually is so weird if you are used to playing with players from higher elo and makes it really hard to climb. Not saying that it's all my teammates fault - thats why I'm "only" diamond and not challenger - but the fact that it is even harder to get out of this elo now makes it so frustrating and I am actually not sure if I want to spend so much time climbing back to diamond. And I think it's not only me. I also play against a few former diamond players from last season who are in the same situation as I am.
I also have the feeling everyone is getting extremly frustrated and tilted now. Every game someone starts flaming or inting and gets toxic. This is normal behaivior in Emerald but not every game...
Just makes it even more anoying and frustrating...

I was both under and now above 50% w/r but I only have 34 games done. I finally got back to Emerald but Platinum was extremely horrible to go through. I mean it's not a valid sample-size but so far Emerald games have been so much easier suddenly lol. However that could be a mental thing where I was "despairge"ing in Platinum, but now in Emerald I'm relaxed and comfortable because it's my current ranked "home" (I need to get rid of that though). I will say my mental is the worst it's ever been this split for whatever reason. I've both blamed my teammates and myself the entire way 💀. My tilt-hate was rated E for everyone including myself. But honestly the main issue was my own struggle getting acclimated to Assassins rn, especially Zed. Overall power decreased, powerspikes shifted, item priorities shifted, and I've been playing sub-optimally the whole time because of it. I really hate that uncomfortable feeling of struggling and not understanding why I'm doing bad/what I could even do to win the game.
I definitely am seeing a lot of people struggle to get back as fast as usual though.
edit: I ended Emerald 3 last split with 50 games played.
The consequences this had on the lower 75% of the ranked population is horrendous.
Sub-emerald ranks were already having a huge problem of having so many players compressed in such a small MMR interval that any hope of having an actually balanced lobby was utopia.
With the harder MMR reset now the playing field down here got so hardly leveled that the matchmaking is absolutely incapacitated to find any semblance of balanced teams. Matches are more often than not a complete coinflip stomp with one side of the lobby achieving an almost "granted by matchmaking" win in sub 15 minutes.
In the long run this is statistically non-influent on your journey (coinflips are by definition 50/50, so you will autolose as many games as you will autowin and your rank will be completely determined by your ability to win the ones that are actually somewhat balanced), but this happens so frequently that it ends up completely wasting most of your playtime and throwing your mental in the garbage bin.
At the end of the day most of us play to have fun, and low quality lobbies are 0 fun even if by random chance (and that's the whole point) you end up on the winning side.
I'm a somewhat casual player with a full-time job. I don't want to reach crazy ranks or go pro... I would like to have a couple hours a day of fun alone or with friends in a competitive environment. But right now I struggle to remember the last time I had a game in which my input was is any way decisive for the end result.
I kept getting people straight running it in top lane and ended up straight losing games. Other games every lane just steamrolled the enemy lanes and we won in 20 minutes. There's just been no inbetween. Diamond 3, now struggling to escape plat lmao

I was low master tier and lost 10 games in a row, playing well, being the ace of my team most of the games. There was just too much player disparity and tilted people. I was being queued with high challengers more often than not. I just stop playing ranked for a while and I am at 34% win rate with about 20 games, on diamond IV.

Yeah this split has made me seriously question playing this game. Currently playing 2 tiers lower than where I ended, with a negative LP gains & 53% wr all because I had a big loss streak in my first 30 games, where I actually played as well as I would expect myself to play. Essentially killing my account this split. Ofc the ''fix the account'' part. But man what the fuck is the point, I've proven seasons after season to be above this rank by 2 tiers at least. It's just miserable... My champ pool is now all sitting at close to 60% cause the games are ''easy'' minus all the coin flips unfair matchmaking game that are not organic due to everyone being all over the place - I'm being called out every other game for being a master 2 splits ago d2 last split playing in low emerald with neg lp gains.... It feels like a waste of time. And it is one. They even fucked all the LP gains when they added emerald.. and now this. I miss the old days and the consistency we had. I hate how the game is managed now and all the tests they do every split, with 1 split 2 split 3 split, new rank, new this, new that. Man FCK OFF... It's removing all the arguments I've ever used against every other games rank system. Riot used to be the shit, now it's a piece of shit just like all the other seasonal games where ranks are so meaningless. League always was the best game with it's rank system consistency. Now it just looks like Apex, where 1 seasons you're platinum and the next you're master like 50% of the player base. What a shame... I finished 2023 split 2 in Plat4 (Senna only), 2024 split 1 in Plat4 (Diana jungle only), split 2 in plat 4 (Ryze mid only), all that solo (I duoed a bit in 2023, but the W/L was equal, so I stopped and focused purely on my own performance). I had cca 60-70% WR but had no time to spam more games. Split 3 came with placements, whete my Split 2 Gold/Silver teamates faced Split 2 Emeralds and in two games even Diamonds. I lost 4 placements like that, got placed is Silver 2. Today, my Split 2 Gold toplaner was facing Split 2 Emerald 2 player to whom he lost T3 turret in 11min ...
I browsed my recent games and my teammatws winrate is somwhete at 26-40% ... literally, wtf is that.
I do not mind getting outplayer by a better player, but I mind it when one team has Gold/Silvet or even Bronze players, whilr the enemy team has 2-3 past Diamond/Emeral plaeyers.

In my experience, I actually haven’t felt the same ranked experiences as a lot of others have. I ended last split as Diamond 3 and after my placements, i placed Emerald 4. Right now i am diamond 3 with an absurd win rate, like 65%. To my experience, i have felt like there have been more trolls and people giving up then ever before. I would solo kill or win 1 team fight and the enemy mid would just perma rage roam or follow their jungler around all game. And some of these players were previous master players. Sounds embarrassing LOL. And i personally think my champ, Katarina, was nerfed. Yes the ap burst build is still very good, but not every game can you build burst. I preferred the nashers tooth with conquer build but that build does no damage anymore. Idk just sharing my experience. Storm surge and lich bane feel good tho this split when the enemy team is all squishy. Just sharing my experiences :)

Amazing video. I have been struggling this split really hard with 37% in E4. I am not blaming the system or anything but it defiantly felt harder to claim the ladder. I played a game where the other sup was master S2023 S1, even tho my peek in my main is d4 that year. and I think it's an opportunity that I be ready and working on my self till the system get fix. Also I don't care about the WR I peek masters with 40% year ago and every game my teammates they will type " gg 40% ff 15 " 🤣🤣

I think the three split idea is horrible for psychological toll on the player base. When it was one, even two a year - We would lose ~400LP and then be expected to climb back up. I'm an active player, its fine. The issue is three times a year now (ONCE EVERY FOUR MONTHS) you lose HUNDREDS of LP to try and climb back up for...and this split I fell from E4 to G3 with a positive WR. Nooo shot I'm putting that many hours in. They totally should have done this reset in the beginning of next year. This was too early.
Something that I have always wondered. Ive played league for years. When I was actively trying I managed to climb to Plat 2. Since then I have not been able to get plat again despite the fact that stat for stat I def play alot better than I used to. Obviously this is dude to the average player skill going up. What it meant to be plat several years ago is not the same as now.
With that being said though I often find myself wondering if rather than facing a traditional climb, if im dealing with a system that deems me to be a certain elo because I havent ranked seriously in several seasons. Several seasons of casual play has me finishing splits as Silver-Gold. I wonder, if I was on a fresh account, and say compared results over 20 games. I sincerely wonder if the system would place me higher than if I had started the split on my main (which the system already sees as a silver/gold account)
This isnt an excuse for being low elo. I am simply saying that if it is possible, that the system sees a person who regularly ends in masters, as a master tier player, so much so that it would put them there even with a neg win rate. Is it really so hard to believe the inverse is true? The system sees you as a silver gold, and even when you start winning the system doesnt promote you as quickly (mmr wise) because its wanting you to prove its not a fluke.
I've definitely found that around 1-3 of the players in my emerald games were previously master tier. (every game)

Im finding it extremely hard to believe it was easier to climb in the previous few seasons, I have the max or higher end penalty for my losses even if i've been on a win streak, wins i'd gain 20-23 lp where as my losses would be 27-30lp regardless if I played good or struggled a bit was on positive win rate, roughly 60-65% win rate until I finally climbed out into bronze, and now my quality of games have plummeted and sadly after a string of losses despite being on a 6-7 win streak previously the pendulum has swung harder the opposite way and I'm again for the 3rd season in a row stuck in Elo hell, its infuriating cause I feel like im the only player on the team that tries, everyone else is only here to troll and ruin the games for everyone else, whether its by diving constantly into their lane killing themselves repeatedly before lane phase has even reached 10-15 minutes or they've had a volcanic meltdown in the chat, I'm expected to 1v9 every game and its exhausting, after a while it becomes very tilting and every game afterwards is only harder than the last.

btw: many high elo players are suspecting that augurin is soft inting atm because the struggle garners him more views actually^^. Other then that I personally truly dislike the 3 splits. It results in pretty much 50% of the year being unplayayble in soloq because you have these HUGE skill differences for the first 2 months. I just think its toxic. THere should be AT MOST 2 splits
I think the harder MMR resets took only place in the apex tiers.
Was last season master and now im currently in emerald 1.
Due to the harder MMR reset affected the apex tiers they seem to be overlapping now with the lower ranks below apex.
So my lobbys are a mixture of Last season emerald 2 - Master 100 LP players which makes the games really stompy and weird in a way.
When I hit masters last season the games were way more homogeneous with a similar skill level and in general an enviroment that felt more competitive. Now I see people checking out mentally way more often than in the last split.
Hopefully riot does something about it.

I was playing the same, but for some reason my mmr just tanked even though I had positive winrates on all my champions.
So screw riot. Im moving to toplane instead of mid.
changing role will only make this harder because you loose your champ pool and some game sense
Matchmaking feels like a complete coin toss and the games feel WAY less structured and people seem to have no idea in comparison to S2.
Then there’s the entire problem with our ranks getting reset yet again in 3 months. What’s even the point if this is how it’s gonna be? I don’t even have the time to work towards a rank because in 3 months it gets reset and I have to go through this all again. Why couldn’t riot stick to 1 season per year, or at most 2 splits. 3 just feels impossible to keep up. Especially since the game quality isnso shit for the first 3-4 weeks, and then again at the end of the split the game quality dips for 3-4 weeks. So we really only have 8 weeks of quality games to try climb while having fun in.
I played the last two seasons on auto-pilot and I got emerald 3-4

I play the game for fun at the end of the day, but it does surprise me how much harder I’m working this season and I can’t get out of gold lol
I think people should be less worried about their specific rank, and more focused on just playing against people of their same MMR. Just because that MMR range is represented by a different rank, doesn't mean people suddenly got better it worse overnight.
Ive weirdly had a good split 3. 2 was hell. So many people tilting off the face of the earth, trolling or ruining games on purpose. Split 3 hasnt been perfect but it has been ALOT less trolls in ranked, so split 3 has been fine for me thusfar.
last split felt so good its weird they changed it again, i also liked the 2000 lp challenger possibility i think that was cool

I thought i was super shit so i gigga practiced and now im about to break 50% overall winrate in bronze with a 65~ win rate last 20 games in this season.
Ive never been higher than silver and i just thought bronze players were insane.
I watched my replays and looked ONLY at my enemy and learned like that.
Its like they disabled taking into consideration smurfs into match makin and disabled lots of ranked systems
Not sure where the struggle is at. I was D4 and rank reset im at E4 with 3W-2L. Last rank reset was the same. I know eventually I will be D4 again. prob will take 40 games if lucky, but tbh i think i will take 60 games to hit D4. Hardstuck D4 player for life, I accepted my fate.
they should just keep the percentages per rank similar between seasons. it's stupid that you cant make good comparisons between seasons
I swear whenever people say climbing is harder atm I climb easier, and when the opposite is said Its soooo hard for me to climb??
tbh its kinda got back to where it was in season 8 and 7, were ranked was so much harder, also ith promos should be braught back, they were exciting and climbing to a rank you feel worthy
the problem isn't accepting ur lower rank than before but half the games we play are bs and unfun that's what i hate the most.
I think the skill discrepancy is the biggest problem. My games have been extremely one sided

Main account went from floating around Plat/high gold to iron this split lol. No major change in my game play just insane matchmaking
Managed to get to Plat 3 after playing for about 4 years. got placed Gold 4 after placements and can't seem to climb any further right now and I don't know how I'm playing any different.
Finished emerald 4, now im 150 games in, losing my mind in gold 3. This split is crazy.
At the beginning of season 14 Riot shifted gold and platinum players into low Emerald and high plat. Now it seems they have reversed that decision and want the old gold player back in gold. So it's likely you haven't suddenly gotten worse, but the MMR scale is just very different this split and your Emerald rank was artificially inflated by Riot's changes at the beginning of the year.

But if someone is losing more, someone is winning more by definition. So WR% shouldn’t be discussed, what do you think?

I don't want MMR at all. Place me with people my rank, make LP gains and losses even and let the ranks sort themselves out.

Im getting rinsed this split haha. Thought it was cause im getting older and have to work. So thought I was getting worse or people just getting better. Normally hit diamond 2/3 every split/season
Seen how agurin is strugling in EUW despite being one of the best performer in our region (often rank 1) i think riot may have change more things that the want to admit.
im a bit of an interesting case, i ended gold 4 and was able to reach gold 2 within about 30 games with an incredible win rate (aboout 85%) and maybe a bit of luck LOL. either way it seems that these MMR changes effect low ELO a bit less.
this split freaking sucks guys, I'm a guy who had %63 winrate on my solo q matches last split and now it's hardly %50. sheesh

They will say will roll back and then just roll back one hairs breadth then push foward nd gaslighting etc etc
I have 60% ovrr 50 games but i finished d3 last split and started p1 when i had finished master before 3 times
its crazy how coach curtis has to give a PSA to the community and we havent heard anything from riot
its like getting promoted and then your boss says "hey we are changing your position to be lower than what you had before! good luck!"

Probably luck , better cleaned out playerbase from ppl that got cut from grandfathering into rank while playing worse then the rank they were in and your actual skill lvl improvement. I had same situation in my progress

So the matchmaking is putting me (in gold 3) against people who are Emerald
Like, normally, whatever. In my previous Plat 2 games, half the people were low emerald, BUT NOW, my team is filled with _actual_ gold players. Not the enemies thooooo
