I made a turtle neck sweater with same method, wool yarn but you can use cotton too of course. Look for it in my playlist named CROCHET ENGLISH

Can you tell how to adjust for L/XL size.
in this case the only solution is to join when you have right size for armholes and then increase stitches for the right chest size
