It was ever a confusing class the SUB, the original domed end's like yours to the more traditional slab ended and all through the class evolution, many were built and rebuilt on existing units with the older SUB's some being converted from LSWR steam hauled stock which were rebuilt and reused with some the frames and bogies going into SR's own EPB's I do believe.
I saw Hornby have a 4SUB at its old factory in Margate I read somewhere, would love to get down there and see it, I visited Hornby in the 70's as a kiddie and remains one of my finest summer days out in memory :D

Thanks, yes indeed a lot of re-use went on, the 51s were my basic traction and yet much of them was far earlier :) happy days

I'm in the process of building a stabling point utilising many of the Tri-ang EMU's I've amassed. All are currently being resprayed. I'd dearly like to know where you acquired all the decals used on your models.

Hi, these were done a long time back and sadly now dad passed away. What decals are you interested in? By the way I put all new content on Model Railways Unlimited now

@@MikesMovies I subscribed to your other channel a while ago. Your father was a modeller of the finest order.
I can only just remember the older units similar to the SUBs/BILs/HALs etc I never actually drove one but was trained on 4 SUB's in '81 whilst a driver at Selhurst.
I'm looking to get some decals such as small coach numbers in the font which has some type of shadow on it. Also, I've drawn a blank trying to locate 1's to go on a few doors. There also appears to be some numbers bottom left of the guards door. I think the colour is referred to as Sunshine yellow?

@@THEINSANESOCIETY Ah a fellow driver, I just missed the Mary's and 51s were my basic. Now the numbers you refer to were made up of individual numbers from a transfer sheet dad had, the 1 1/2 ton came from the shame sheet as I recall. The 1st class came from another. I really can't offer any more than that, I have an idea to see if the transfer sheet is still around but I have a great deal to worth through. If I find it I'll pass over the details. Cheers. Mike

Hi Mike....bloody great video! Liked & enjoyed very much. Superb results....I'm well impressed! never thought about using an ultra-sonic bath before....do you really think it's a good thing to have/use? I have subbed & thanks for yours too. Kind regards, John.

Hi John, many thanks :) Yes the ultrasonic bath (jewelry cleaner) with IPA in has saved many of my older locos. I also use it for my Lima super clean up @watch?v=X6UfgdFzR7w I'd say its very important, along with a nice smooth controller to keep motors happy , thanks again for the kind comments. Mike
