I've been saying that since 1974. He's not a large man like me but plays with the HUGE tone. I've listened to the Master Maynard for fifty one years and Lynne comes the closest to carrying the mantel Maynard himself was the most significant musician of the 20th century. I've always considered him an annointed spirit. Like Jesus or one of the saints.
Lynn ya really knocked me out at 3:23. Kinda steals the show. Lol. He perfectly pegged the Eb, D to Double C on the repetitive out chorus. Listen to it again boys! Nicholson is the master. The High Priest of Screech.
Lynn Nicholson has perfected the triple register!! Give your heart and life to Jesus, so you can play in heaven for all eternity! Reminds me of Bud Brisbois from the 70s and earlier. The wrong guy took the bow....
John, we remember you from the trumpet chat boards. You were a monster player (and probably still are)! We are grateful to you and all the health professionals.
Not sure why the universe served up this video in my feed today, but WOW, what a thrill ride! This was one of the first Maynard Ferguson tracks that I heard as a high school trumpet player back in 1978. Still gives me chills. Great tribute, and a big shout out to all the nurses that show up every day to care for their patients!
Did i noticed that Lynn Nichelson did the last meausure of the second melody (nanana na, hey Jude) all by just lip binding without changing finger positions?!
@MattYardley : Hat's off, Sir. You're precision playing was an awesome opening performance! @CarlFischer : You did The Boss proud, both personally and professionally! @Superman : We would expect no less; You're a one man stratosphere!! Sparks in Daytona
Hi Matt, I work for ITV regional news programme Calendar. Our Clap for Carers coverage will focus on nurses this week as it's international nursing week / nurses day. Please can I use a bit of your "Hey Jude" film? Thanks for your help. V
This is amazing. It shows how an online performance should be done. No one can surely give this a thumbs down unless your hearing aid isn't working properly🤣
The mix is way off. Why have trombones when yoturn them all the way down? The trombone counterpoint makes this chart. Besides, who can tell if the trumpets are playing high iyou can't hear the bones hitting the low notes. This is an all trumpet ego shit fest.
I played trumpet professionally early on and for years thereafter, but I'm not an egomaniac, so aside from those comments (lol!!)..... You're right, it needed more 'bone, especially at 1:10 & 1:28, and at 3:45 where he "should" have played those 2 measures as they were in the MF chart..... Sparks in Daytona
I love this s***. I loved discovering it during COVID, I loved it after Covid, and I love coming back to it a year or two since I've listened to it, and it is Still the absolute bomb. Now That's what This is, so I would suggest that maybe you should have another listen... with your eyes closed, man. It's all that.
Lynn Nicholson is a god

The High Priest of Screech.
Perfectly executed!! 🔥
I’ve always been a fan of extreme high notes playing right in front of the beat on a moving form. Lynn just nails this perfectly.
🔥🔥🔥 Lynn Nicholson 🔥🔥🔥
Lynn Nicholson is a gangsta😭
Anytime you send Lynn a chart you also have to send scotch tape in order for him to add his staff paper to the top of it
Lynn just mic dropped the session. ❤️❤️❤️

Yo Lynn, played this for my dog and he went berserk… fellow Blackhawk pride sir!
As a 30+ year professional trumpet player who retired to become a Critical Care Nurse (and what a time to do that!) I approve. :D

Yea! Sounds wonderful! Maynard was probably listening when you recorded your parts. :-)
What a trumpet section!

Whoever that first dude was on the flugelhorn, is he even a trumpet player? His fingerings were nowhere close to what was being played.
Looks right to me

Its in maynards style

Why so high? It isn´t musical at all. Is it a competition that only trumpet players do? Why is that? It delivers me a headache.
It's supposed to give you a headache get over it already.
I would have loved to see cat Anderson vs Lynn Nicholson playing this song.
That was incredible!! Not many people can do what Lynn Nicholson does!
It's what Maynard would do.
It's about the fun and it's still musical bruh
How about one for those brave and intelligent people who refused the jab?
