Pretty pointless and futile 'interview' really. Clearly the questioner hasn't got a grasp of the concept . The title shows that - you don't believe in a god, so what do you believe in? You must believe in something.
@@therealcaldini No. that's my point. The title of the piece says 'What Humanists Believe' This shows a lack of understanding of the basic concept and the 'interviwer showed that by trying to get them to say what dogmas Humanists believe in - as if it's a religion.
@@kafka8886 Ah right. I understand. Have you listened to the interview series? They’re really thought provoking. I think “belief” in this context has a broader meaning than belief in a god or not. For example, I believe that the eternity of nothingness that happened before you were born is the same as the eternity of nothingness after you die. I can’t scientifically prove it, but I believe it to be true. Also, I believe that because of this, life is the one single thing that any of us truly owns and therefore it is the most precious thing and we should all let people have their freedoms as long as it harms no-one. Others could come to a different conclusion, eg my selfish genes are going to let me stop at nothing to become ultra successful even if it means others die for it - after all, once they’re dead they’re dead. Horrible thought, but could happen.
@@kafka8886You must have something you believe in or you wouldn't be able to function in the world. You believed it was worth leaving this comment. Why? Quite an interesting interview - I felt the answers were much better than the questions!
I must agree. I felt some questions were biased &/or uninformed, but the responses were thoughtful and informative.
